  1. You are right, but beating good teams is what makes us perceived as good. Hoping teams on our schedule lose is stupid. We want them to win and be good and then beat them. We want to ultimately beat whoever we play whenever we play them whatever their record is. Beating weak teams does not make us better. Battling, beating and competing with the best the ncaa has to offer creates buzz excitement and brings attention to the program.
  2. None of those were spearing and launching. It looked like guys trying to get low. They need to tell their player to fall to the ground if they are afraid of getting hurt. Learning how to be tackled is part of the game too. Not everyone can act like Marion Barber and get away with it.
  3. Don't feel bad for any party involved except for maybe the student athletes.
  4. It helps to have utsa, UTEP, and rice and home this year. Expect higher than avg attendance for those without doing anything. Next year I would expect the schedule should get shuffled a bit with the Tulsa and Tulane departure.
  5. One thing I forgot to mention previously about the game that impressed me the most and gave me good feelings that we might could do something this season was the attention to tackling. Solo tackles and tackles in space against much larger opposition by almost everyone that got a hand on a player was great.
  6. It's the same. Sec network is espn/gameplan/espn3/abc packaged. Andre Ware probably got paid by abc/espn. Next year it should be even more obvious that the sec network is a regional espn college football broadcast.
  7. Because we all know how easy it is for an assistant to take a head coaching job on a talent laden team and win championships...
  8. Just wait until Baylor plays OU. Baylor should be the favorite to win the Big 12, and I think they would give A&M a run for their money.
  9. No, I'm not minimizing the first 4 games. The fact is we are 2-2. You know who feels just like you? Probably UTSA students. Only they have a conference win to also feel good about. Minimize them being 1-0 if you want to ignore the facts. Logic and I get along very nicely. Other Facts: Tulane: 2-2 (1-0) UTSA: 2-2 (1-0) MTSU: 3-1 Rice: 1-2 Tulsa: 1-2 Tulane has a QB who's dad was pretty good at QB. If the apple didn't fall to far from the tree, it will be a tough game. UTSA has a mobile QB with an arm and a coach that has been to national championships. Both of those guys have the arms to be able to throw over the weakest link in our defense. Forgive me if I respect all those facts and football analysis. Truth is, I'm as high on this team than I have been in the past 8 years. There are some similarities early on this year to the early 2000's. Hell, in 2003 we went to a #14 SEC team in their house and lost by 24. I don't remember anyone being as happy with that performance as people are here, now, but someone can dig that thread up and prove me wrong. I'm at every game waiting for a breakout season, but until we've shown that we can win on the road and win back to back games, I'll keep tempering my overuse of superlatives and crowning us champions, because it would make me look like a fool who ignores facts and football analysis. So I'm sorry I don't share your "confidence" in putting W's down next to games before they've been played.
  10. You obviously weren't around the last few times we played Tulsa an Rice. Had you been, you would understand the apprehension, not fear.
  11. I don't want to discredit our players either... Richt was sure his players were far superior to ours. Against most teams, I would say he's correct. We had the guys with the ability to make him pay for his mistakes in decision making or play calling. Georgia did in the 4th Q what they should have done in the first. The final score probably wouldn't have been that different.
  12. There was a 4th down coaching decision in the 4th that caused the score to get more lopsided, but it was probably because there was a sliver of hope. I probably would have punted, but they were exploiting their speed advantage in the secondary, and it was obvious we had to score to keep up at that point. They were arrogant enough to kick it to chancellor and he did what he does. Georgia fans should be angry at their coach for kicking to him. You noticed they didn't kick it to him again after that. Almost everyone we've played so far this season knows better. Richt knew, he just didn't care. On the blocked punt, Georgia was arrogant enough again to not bring in anyone to protect. The were too eager to flip the field. Again, coaching. They are right though, had their coaches played the game the right way, it likely would not have been as close as it was. That said, I was very happy to be tied in the 3rd. I did not expect that. Defense played great through the first 2 1/2. Offense made some good plays, but could string much together after coming out looking very capable.
  13. I've said this before: any poll that has us above Tulsa or Rice is simply not right. It's not that we cannot beat them, it's that we haven't.
  14. They only people that care are us. Stop.
  15. I don't know if this was written condescendingly, but I took it as such. It's all part of the atmosphere. I'm glad they're there drinking beer on the hill socializing, and not anywhere but there. The only place better would be inside the stadium, but anywhere else but the hill would be worse.
  16. Should be fun as a student. I really wish every student now (or then) could have experienced a New Orleans bowl. We'd have many, many fans.
  17. Tulsa has shown me the last 2 times we've played them. Until we prove we can beat them, they are better and it isn't even close. That would be a big win for the team.
  18. Oh, Bleacher Report thinks Houston is bad too... http://bleacherreport.com/articles/391963-worst-cities-in-america-to-be-a-sports-fan/page/7
  19. Houston is according to Forbes! (and to me) http://www.forbes.com/sites/tomvanriper/2013/07/31/americas-most-miserable-sports-cities-2/
  20. Houston is an awesome town to visit. I forget why the Oilers moved. Must have been too much awesome in one place to make a go of things.
  21. Either way, it's happy fun time for Astros fans in Astros town. How many towns have you lived in?
  22. And the Astros are staying in the cellar. But at least your owner is making $1B in profit. So Astros win, right?
  23. Thread derailed before it got started..
  24. My sister is a student and she made mention that with no union to pass through, she hasn't seen much promotional materials. Said she feels like there's no one place that students congregate at anymore.
