First home game against a "real" recognizable, and not new cusa opponent. I think that has to count for something.

A simple phone call aught to clear this up.

Kind of a stretch there...

We will beat Rice, and beat them easily - Prediction thread
MeanMag replied to UNT90's topic in Mean Green Football
Disagree. If we throw like we did against USM we lose unless the running game works as well as it did against USM. Got to get rid of those INTs or Rice will make them count if they get them. -
Good point. I just put it on my calendar.
-
And how many fans on their message boards point out that a fumble or int here or there can really be the nail in the coffin against Oregon, FSU, Bama, Baylor, Mizzou etc.? Get over it man, it's football and turnovers are a huge part of it. There 10 other threads on this board right now that are all positive. I think a harmless observation post is just fine.

The only one getting pissy around seems to be you. Just sayin'

Beyond the Green Observations this Season
MeanMag replied to TheColonyEagle's topic in Mean Green Football
Completely agree. We were top 3 in scoring defense one year and always around the top 10 for 3 straight years. -
I saw him there.

I think it's strange that I'm getting to the point of déjà vu on this board. I guess seeing topics about things that have been discussed as naseum before is a sign that we are adding new fans to the board, which can only be a good thing, right?

There are many of fish in the sea. I hope this kid is able to be a standout for TCU, and it sucks to lose a committ. Personally, I just couldn't get behind wearing purple. It's an odd color.

I Propose A New Forum
MeanMag replied to UNTLifer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Ah I got it. You were using a stereotype of women to insinuate insult toward men who are sensitive. Can we go back to posting pics of half naked women and dick jokes again? -
I Propose A New Forum
MeanMag replied to UNTLifer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Wait, now I'm really confused. Being a woman is good, or bad? Because I'm okay with either, I'd just like to know which it is. For future reference. -
Actually, if it's men's basketball your are referring to, there's no recent history of this yet. I'm all for affording people the opportunity and time to succeed, but our sample sizes have been more than generous in the couple of cases I can think of. Neither of which have been men's basketball related. To be honest I've only ever known of one men's basketball coach being here, and an extension in that case may have helped with recruiting and contract risk mitigation, but it did not help in the retention of the coach. I sincerely doubt that recruits who were being offered in Dodges 3rd year did not have an indication of what was going to happen very soon. I would imagine Players are smart to that type of thing. It's important to be decisive and quick about things for all parties involved as soon as the direction is obvious. In the case of coach Mac, it's fairly obvious that he will not have to worry about the length of his contract from us if he continues on this trajectory.
-
My problem is not necessarily the offering of contract extensions to show commitment to recruits. My problem is the reluctance to get out of bad ones.

I don't mind the early conservative play calling. Our play book opens up throughout a game according to the situation and what the opponent is doing defensively. Some early execution on some of the plays against defenses designed to stop that specific play call would really allow for an expanded playbook early in a game. I look at our early play calling as us poking around to see what they are doing and what is working. Ultimately it's been up to the defense to keep us in that game until we figure it out. I wish we'd have the offensive play calling figured out at the very beginning, but at least it adjusts, which is more than I can say for previous coaching staffs. The defensive execution seems to indicate the same thing on that side of the ball. Come out trying to execute the way you want to play and then figure some things out and adjust to what they are doing to shut them down. The huge change this year has been our defense stops at the end of games and our offensive red zone ability to score tds instea of previously missed FGs.

I mentioned after week 2 I thought Baylor might be the best in that conference. After watching a&ms defense, they (Baylor) might be the best team in the state.
-
This scenario was played out with Boise and TCU both going to a BCS Bowl. They played each other at the kids table because the other conferences didn't want to lose to either one, so they fixed it.
-
Can anyone tell me what they are eating on the way back? I'm only taking answers from people who have called to confirm.
-
Very strange. I don't and I think you are the only/first person to ever mention such a thing. They are in Waco which is kind of its own region in texas. There is open space between dfw and Waco where there is not development. Lots of it.
-
I agree the players should lose scholarships and if it's so bad that the players don't want to play, perhaps they should drop football permanently.
-
Grambling Football looks like it is just the most visible results of budget cuts across the entire state. The entire state has a mess on their hands.

transfers/ walkons/ scout team?
-
Recruits don't wear jerseys or hold up signs on the sidelines. In fact they probably aren't on the field during the game. You probably saw backups, redshirts, or injured players and maybe a combination of all 3.

Brett Vito: Student’s Twitter action heeds McCarney’s plan
MeanMag replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Same with me. I hate trying to watch football on tv at Halloween. Now I have an excuse to not be at home.
