The best way to get over one game is to come out on top in another. Taking a queue from our fearless leader, it's now been 24 hours and attention should turn to Tulsa (3-8 overall, 2-5 CUSA). 1:30 PM start time with highs in the 50s and lows in the 40s. 3 wins: Colorado State UTEP LaTech. 8 losses: Bowling Green Oklahoma Iowa State Rice Tulane UTSA ECU Marshall The current line sits at UNT -5/12. I would say Tulsa is one of the teams we need to repay from the Dodge era, but we also need to repay them for the Dickey era as well. We have quite a history with Tulsa and we have a long way to go to evening up the series with them. This will be our last opportunity to play against Tulsa for sometime as they are moving on to the AAC next season. Their fans have always been very welcoming and one of the classiest groups I, personally, have ever run into. Happy to be in a conference with them, even if it is only for one year. I was making designs to travel to see us clinch the west division, but as we all know sometimes things don't work out as planned. Time to make lemonade. Despite the loss to UTSA, we still have one of the top defenses in school history which should come in handy in this game. I'd really like to see the offense get back in sync before these seniors round out this campaign in whatever bowl game we get invited to. Tulsa has historically been a very physical team when playing us, no reason to expect any different this go round.

It also doesn't help that the play calling has been crazy lopsided for the cowboys.

Will loss to UTSA affect recruiting in Texas?
MeanMag replied to Zeleny' Orel's topic in Mean Green Football
Just guessing it's been a while since you stepped into a UNT classroom. Things have changed a bit. We lose recruits all the time to Tulsa, UH, TCU, LaTech, Monroe, LaLa, Rice, SMU, etcetera. We also win some. Even from UTSA. McCarneys got a list of guys he's coached too. Your post is as crazy as the post to which you responded, except yours sounds serious. The original poster sounds like it was said as a joke. -
Nah just a kid that loves his team and school and wishes they would have played better for the win.

None of what you posted matters. What matters is that they whipped us. Any game on any given week against any team provides bulletin board material if you go looking for it.

Step 1. Believe you are better. Step 2. Prove that you are better. Can't get to step 2 without first beliving it, true or not. It's obvious ybarbo is a player and believes that we are a better team and didn't play a great game. His head is in the right place.

As with just about anything the answer lies somewhere in the middle. UTSA didn't exactly take everything, it was a little give and take. Missed opportunities from both sides.
-
That's like UTSA fans coming over here and saying they won because we fans play around on the internet. To do so minimizes their own accomplishments and doesn't take responsibility for what really happened. They prepared, played and coached better than we did.

We're not so different it seems: North Texas is a damn good football team. You did not win to a crappy team, that's for certain. We have been in the top 3 in CUSA defense all year, and a little more hidden than the numbers show... Pretty dang good on offense over the first half of the season. North Texas was a legit contender in CUSA. Save for a gifted td and another lapse just before half against Tulane, we'd be undefeated in the division. Our loss to UTSA was an anomaly. We had just come off a game we SHOULD have won (and I'm dead serious on that, go back and rewatch it) against Ohio... And the team wasn't focused at all at home with UTSA. Of all our games this season, that's the only one I see where the real Mean Green team didn't show up. We gave Georgia all we could, and Ball State is another legit team that we took out earlier in the year.

Don't make us look stupid GreenFlag.

Yes, but will they be better husbands and fathers? Somehow it's okay to issue this joke when it's us...

For all intents and purposes, NT almost is a 3rd year football program. Thankful for our seniors who have been with us for so long, but I hope they can tell you what has changed in the past 3 years of this program.

That was one of the oddest endings to a game...

This was most obvious and just strange to see in person. Really strange. -
Hahaha the U lol. Priceless. Is that the Miami?

Nah it's not impossible, it happens quite often. Clock starts when ball is set, if a team is ready to snap they can, that's why refs stand over the ball and move out of the way to blow their whistle an start the clock. -

Very amateur. And I hope someone gets reamed for that. Just incredible. -
Please. He didn't have a good night tonight, but he did get us past ball state after taking a horrible crash on the sidelines. As a cowboy fan who watched Quincy, Hutchinson, Henson, Testaverde: it's always best to be careful what you wish for.

NT03 like to pile in the disappointment. Hope all you UTSA fans had fun and are planning on leaving before the bad weather tomorrow.
-
I read the first paragraph. I agree with it. I'm sure the rest is a really good post.
-
It is a massive disappointment, but not because it was UTSA. It was disappointing because the execution on offense wasn't there. It was almost nothing the UTSA defense did. They stacked the box and dared us to throw and when we did they weren't in position to make plays: Thompson simply wasn't accurate enough. Even on intermediate throws. Their offense on the other hand executed perfectly. In fact, if I remember correctly, the only reason we got stops was because UTSA beat themselves. I feel like I watched us get beat by a Todd Dodge offense executed perfectly. They had a plan. I'm not sure what ours was. Also I'm not disappointed with Derek Thompson, we've seen him make those throws before. I'm disappointed that he wasn't able to make them on senior day in his last home game. All the seniors I'm disappointed for them. They've all been around for some really not fun times here and I wish that tonight was more fun for them.

My wife (OU grad) thought we were playing UTPA this week. That might give an indication of what casual joe football fan thinks. It's the biggest game for us this week, but not this year.
-
Same, we gotta take care of our shit no matter what happens. But if the teams we beat look better now, it helps us.
-
Well it's moot now. Rice wins
-
This. We need to win out whether we clinch this weekend or not.

Just had some Bishops Barrel last weekend. I incidentally have half a case of pumpkinator
