Hey, that goal is Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Results focused, and Time bound. Making it 92.3% of the way to your goal is an A.

I noticed some names appeared in the programs more than once. At some point during sign up, I'm almost 95% certain I asked for my name not to be in the program. But, it showed up there anyway.

At one point yesterday, it was mentioned on the radio broadcast that 6 of our last 12 offensive drives had ended in a turnover. We're going to need that football to score points...

There have been 5 different presidents of the university in our 1 athletic director's tenure.

rick villareal I'm genuinely interested to know

I bought one pair of tickets from U of H when UNT visited there a couple years ago. Their athletic office still calls me and talks to me like I have been a UH booster for years trying to get me to join and buy season tickets.... -
This makes no sense. You do this with a QB and an offensive line on the field with a hurry up, don't you? And you try a hard count to see if they bite.

SMU thank you, credit where credit is due.

I had a good time outside of the offensive performance. Really wish we had a usable end zone like theirs on the south side. You can have a drink, they had TVs with other games on, and you could still see the field. All for the unwashed masses.. -

You all don't think RV getting his contract extended anytime a coach of his gets an extension is an accident or coincidence, do you? -
Its time to Fire RV, Canales and maybe Mac
MeanMag replied to KingDL1's topic in Mean Green Football
Start with RV. Everyone else can be evaluated by his replacement. Then we know what type of AD we have. -
This. Everything that I have heard, indicates that money is not a problem. The guy making the decisions has a vested interest in only giving extensions, not pink slips.

Defense was okay. They made some stops and forced some turnovers which is awesome, but the LBs looked like they were stuck in mud against Matt Davis, even before they were winded at the end of the game. It was only a matter of time before he wore their asses out. The turnovers will not be there all the time, and especially not against better competition. We are slow on D. Any dual threat QB is going to give us problems.

Boise St. more morally grounded than Baylor?
MeanMag replied to SilverEagle's topic in Mean Green Football
It isn't so much the before that has me fired up. It's the after part. The investigation, or lack there of. The perceived non urgency in the matter. Baylor and Briles, Bennett, and the rest of his staff look like sacks of crap, and they might actually be. If I were an alum who supported that school financially, I'd be asking so many damn questions. WTF is with the jury sentencing too? What the hell is going on in Waco? -
Who is producing this stuff? Give that man a raise. This stuff is good.

Rob Evans offer perspective on Confederate flag
MeanMag replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
The war for independence was an act of treason. One that all Americans commemorate in every singing of the national anthem before every sporting event. The entire country was born of rebellion. It is in our DNA. That somehow through all of that fighting those two flags could fly on the same pole was a statement to the incredible tenacity to work out differences and hate each other like brothers and still stick together. Perhaps it is tough for a non natural born citizen to understand that. Cerebus wins this one, and you do not have to read a psych book to know that the symbol has been stolen like so many other things in history. -

I could not knock off of work for 2 hours in the middle of the day, but I did receive a couple of very nice calls from the AD from real people in the 2 weeks leading up to the caravan. That stuff really helps. In those same 2 weeks, I also received a call from a real person with the U of Houston Athletic Department. They wanted me to buy season tickets and talked to me like he knew me. I bought tickets through their athletic dept a few years back when we played them at their place... Nothing since. He almost made me want to buy season tickets. Seriously, the personal calls and messages that those people leave on voicemail (instead of hanging up) help. Keep it up NT.

OK boys and girls. I've been drinking a bit tonight

It's useful for a young nucleus of players to play to get additional practice and tourney experience. It's probably less useful for exposure. -
That was a fun road trip. Easy drive. Good team. Really happy to have them in the conference. Good people too.

New Voice of the Mean Green is Dave Barnett
MeanMag replied to MeanGreen13's topic in Mean Green Football
I don't know why he is still around. He is a real stick in the mud. The Rangers made a mistake by getting rid of Josh Lewin. -
Didn't one of those guys broadcast our football games a while ago? Pretty cool that he is returning to campus after all these years.

Most folk are better. UH or otherwise.

If by RG you mean Rodeo Goat, yes. RG or GTFO. Fred's has it's time and mood... but if given a choice RG gets my vote 100% of the time.

I agree with Cerebus and Harry. You guys must have chosen the wrong major. There are major opportunities for engagement with very connected alums and faculty. My sister is a current student at UNT and has many friends at UTA. She was actually thinking about transferring because UTA is VERY close to her work, which she enjoys very much. The one thing she said she could not give up was the football. I was there for the conversation when she mentioned this to her friends at UTA, and their reponse was, "Yeah, UNT has a much better student and community atmosphere and Pride about than UTA." "The students seem more engaged and connected." If football and/or basketball combined can give students a good year to care about every 2-3 years, then they are doing their job. I certainly would not have had such a good time if I did not take trips to New Orleans and Oklahoma City and Hot Springs. Even a little bit of success matters.
