Who knew they had fans that dedicated. If I went to school there I would be embarrassed to say so. I'd probably even leave it off my resume or conveniently forget the South Austin part of the school name. Consider me dumbfounded that someone would go out of their way to be proud to have gone there.

I know absolutely nothing about what UTSA is. Do they have any nationally ranked programs? Are they good at anything besides having obnoxious fans? I have not met 1 UTSA alumn in my daily interactions, which makes me wonder what they do. Is there even that many of them? Obviously UTSA is not the reason our fans wanted to be in CUSA, unlike USM, La Tech, UTEP, Tulsa, Marshall, East Carolina and Tulane. It should, then, come as no surprise that our fans are not excited to see UNT play UTSA, and are especially not interested in traveling to San Antonio. Personally, I'd rather go to a game in El Paso, Houston or Ruston. I'd even be willing to go to San Marcos.

If there is only one Bowl Tie-In against a P5 opponent, the conference office would probably want the champion there.

Reports Name Graham Harrell as Candidate for UTEP Job
MeanMag replied to Cerebus's topic in Mean Green Football
Those recruiting trips have to be brutal at UTEP. While you may have to look hard around here, East Texas and North Texas can give you a recruiting trip where you can sleep in your own bed at night, if you wanted to. -
Since someone closed "Littrell" Post to new comments
MeanMag replied to UNTMike81's topic in Mean Green Football
We might talk about the distant past, Helwig trying to kill athletics, and being underfunded for 40-50 years prior to 2003. All of that might be or is true. If you look at purely win-loss, I don't think there has been a 10 year stretch worse than what was done from 2006-2016. i don't care how long littrell and co are here, it's a Breath of fresh air. -
Brad Underwood, Lamont Evans and Frank Martin all have overlapping careers at multiple schools since 2006. Kansas State, South Carolina, Oklahoma State. In fact, I just read a story that Frank Martin could be a contender for the opening at Louisville...

not there either.

There is no way.

I read that wrong. I saw your post like this: And the way SL is recruiting, he needs this to take off fairly quickly so recruiting will tick up after that. How does the game clock keep running when the WR steps out of bounds? It has happened on multiple plays now.

I am an idiot.

You got that right. All of it. SMU might go on to win a ton of games this year with those NFL talents, but its no cosolation when you lose by 20+ to a team that you should compete with
-
Aside for the Sutton non-coverage, there have been guys in positions to make plays and contest. They are getting beat by better throws and catches.
-
Special Teams are atrocious.
-
So many stupid decisions, and stupid penalties, and stupid mistakes. Sutton is good and wins the competitive plays and would probably beat us anyway, but why help them with mental mistakes?
-
I was unable to make the game, but according to the stat box, we may need to work on 3rd down conversion %. I don't know if some of those failed 3rd down conversions came in the last half, when we just ran forward, but it could be concerning.

2017 Rams Roster Preview: RB Lance Dunbar, Secret Weapon?
MeanMag replied to Tyler Maryak's topic in Mean Green Football
Dunbar out indefinitely (knee). Story -
This and kids are going to transfer at the first sign of adversity at their current school proves the point that you never promote an assistant or hire a specific coach in hopes of keeping players. You hire the best you can, all the time, every time. The kids are going to decide what they do anyway.

Grant McCasland is New UNT Basketball Coach
MeanMag replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I like having AStateFan around, like Harry, but no one is trying to hire their AD away, and we just had the option to do that too. There is no accounting for taste I guess. I am perfectly happy to leave him where he is. With the reactions he has to normal things, I could see him being happy to be in Jonesboro as long as their fans are happy to have him. -

Sounds like a pretty good farm system we have going here. I will gladly get behind money whipping ASU coaches for any sport as long as your AD continues to find good ones. -
The change could have happened anywhere from 1-4 years. It certainly should have been corrected at the end of last year, but look at the guy in charge of that at the time... I am not sure how firing a guy half way through the season is viewed in the coaching community, but I would imagine, it is frowned upon. Being a good boss that people want to work for includes treating people right. Lets say you are offered the same position from 2 competing schools, money is about the same, and one AD has a track record of firing people mid-season, warranted or not. We can't money whip people here. So making it attractive to good candidates in any way possible has to be a bonus.

WB got a pass in basketball this year, because he could blame poor performance on the last guy. I hope the search for a new coach was going on long before the season began. Realistically, not a lot of basketball coaches are looking for jobs midyear and the ones that are, probably are not worth the entertainment. Making this job publicly available at the first possible moment its not viewed as rude to do so says WB is impatient. Making the move mid season, unless you have a guy ready to go, is irresponsible unless the head coach is a total ass hat. For all of Benford's inability to put a winning basketball team on the court, I feel like he is a decent guy. I say that knowing nothing about how he treats players.

Inevitable end of Johnny Jones’ tenure at LSU will be sad
MeanMag replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I would take JJ back in a heartbeat if it meant we didn't have to sit on our hands this time of year. Edit: and the rest of the season for that matter. -
Ridiculous attitude towards players' well-being
MeanMag replied to JesseMartin's topic in Mean Green Basketball
These kids are not stupid. They know what is going to happen. They have probably already come to terms with all of it. Everyone knows what is going to happen. The only difference is the guy that is going to be the guy next year is not at work yet.
