  1. I think so, I would expect to see just as many UT fans make that trip as USC fans really. They still have alottment of tickets and such, although I'm not sure what the numbers are. I would be willing to bet it was just as easy for a UT fan to get a ticket as much as the USC fans. Make no bones about it, when those 2 schools are in the National Championship there is no shortage of BIG time $$$ involved and those types tend to do whatever it takes to be there.
  2. Just got back rom Denton myself, Accumulation on bridges and grass started just as I was leaving. Some sleet some snow. Lewisville is still really dry. 80% chance over night tonight, predicting 1-2" predicted overnight temp is 22 degrees with windchill around 15
  3. Why don't they give UNT the 50 mil to build a stadium they can play in? We just have to schedule a road game for that weekend.
  4. I'm not going to be as bitter as some on this board. I honeslty wish we had more of those Klingons and I don't mind if they are fans who only root for good teams.
  5. You guys act like this has never happened before. Kansas St. played OU in the Big XII championship at their own stadium... in manhattan... Or maybe it was in Kansas City, at any rate, Home game
  6. I hate OU the most, then TT. TT has always struck me as the most pompous thug school. I grew up in Austin, going to UT games as a kid. Nothing but love.
  7. This is not only a question for you, but for the rest of the board as well. Does your Out of conference win negate a loss in conference? If we lose more than one SBC game I consider the season a loss, I don't care about OOC record. If we beat Texas and lose an SBC game or two, our win over Texas is considered a fluke, but does get us recognition. It says, Texas is overrated more than it says North Texas is underrated. I would rather lose to Texas and win every game we are supposed to. In a perfect world, we win both and it is what we should be striving to do. In my opinion, we beat the teams we are supposed to. (That is how lowly I think of this conference.) If we were to win every OOC game next year and lose every in conference game, our season is a fluke. I care about winning OOC games, but I care more about not losing the conference games because our conference mates can't beat out of conference teams either. And I'd be happy with just winning every conf. game next year with the backwards step we took this year.
  8. To use it to express his point really isn't that much of a surprise though. HS football in Texas is king. It's embarrasing, yes. But the statement that HS's are better than UNT's stadium doesn't reinforce it as much as you would think. It's bad we all know it, and we all realize there's better HSs... BTW, talk to NFL guys and see if their colleges have better facilities. I can tell you from personal experience that most colleges probably have better facilities than the Dallas Cowboys. And the cowboys are supposed to be a cash cow with merchandising and promotion... In fact I've heard I think an Oregon grad in the NFL complain that Oregon had better facilities.
  9. Wow, I can't beleive after the gross turnaround in North Texas' direction you would think of bringing up years past. We've all seen how much can be accomplished or not within 1 year. And I think OU was GROSSLY overrated both of those seasons and backed into the NC game BOTH years. There were many, many teams that were better not only at that time of year, but throughout the whole season had better wins and better losses. Who loses to Kansas and still expects to be in the NC game? This will be the best NC game since the Miami-Ohio St. game because it really is 2 undefeated teams going at each other for an UNDISPUTED and sole possession national title.
  10. I said I agreed with most of your post, Fouts is not what I would call a dump, but it certainly is an embarrasment to the standard we are trying to bring ourselves up to. Much of the sunbelt plays in similar conditioned stadiums. There are those who call UofH a hole. I've heard Tulsa, while they don't quite have the student attendance we have, is bad. WAC schools, Idaho in particular has a horrible stadium. Hell, I think the Independence bowl is dumpy looking. I do get that when you say it's built for the kids you have good intentions. I just don't necessarily think it's the right way to spend that taxpayer money when there are space shortages in districts that build these stadiums. Building an incredibly nice stadium while having to wheel in portables for classrooms I think might be associated with a misappropriation of funds. But it is built for fun I guess and kids do use it. So I guess in that respect it is built for the kids. But I tend to think its a status of wealth symbol a community points to when trying to recruit business and residents. Not to mention Administrator and City Council peoples egos.
  11. Wow, Maverick, I didn't see anyone ripping highschools for having nicer stadiums than us. Why would they? I agree with everything in your post, donors need to step up. but you got defensive from the get go, and I can't really put my finger on why... And this might be a news flash to some, but Fouts isn't the only field in D1-A that doesn't have as nice a stadium as highshools. I would also be curious as to what school this person graduated from. My guess is it's a BCS college with a huge endowment. Edit: And your comment about building athletics facilities for the kids is lost on me, when there are more kids who don't play sports in HS than those that do. I realize these school districts want to compare johnsons and athletics is the most visible way to do that, much like colleges. But don't tell me that they spend money on it "for the kids". They do it because people donate the money for it to have their name on the side of a stadium. Or because a community wants to be taxed to build it. This is not ripping HS's for having better stadiums. I went to HS once too, and I went to every single football game. It is also much easier to tack on a bond election to the end of a mayoral race or proposition when paying taxes, not tuition, is a MUST for anyone in the city. The stadiums school districts build are usually used by more than one team regularly. This is why it's easier for a district to get funding for a stadium.
  12. I still see Venables as being the leading candidate for that job.
  13. What Ole Miss was 3-8, have they fired their coach yet?!?! They must not like to win.
  14. It really is important for the next President to need to be a pro athlete, and I didn't know the BoR were already pro athletes...
  15. So true, The survey is BS. If they really wanted accurate opinions they'd solicite more survey results, and not stop until they got the number they think portrays an accurate picture. Not someone voting their opinion on 100 different machines. They'd pass out surveys in classrooms and get a much more accurate reading I think. For the most part, I think the majority students want to see the athletic program do well.
  16. If someone were to go write Bobby Ray a check for 10 million dollars to spend at the athletic department's discretion and the one condition was that part of it be used to hire a new coach and the rest on a new stadium. Do you think he would do it? I would hope so. Does the $$ need to be higher or lower than 10 mil? I only ask because that is the only way I see this situation changing before next season. And if no one has that kind of money, then I kind of don't see how we can ask for Dickey's head on a plate at this point. I want to tell the athletic department and administrators what to do as much as you guys do, or more. But, I'm not going to expect them to take me very seriously until I pony up the big $$$. So big spender, how much are you willing to spend to see Dickey gone?
  17. I don't understand your point I guess. Are you suggesting that UNT had a shot at Vince Young, or a Brady Quinn? I'm asuming you are being sarcastic. Although, I don't know who said we need to give Dickey credit for QBs he didn't sign... I am truely lost as to what point you are trying to suggest.
  18. I understand you want to protect your sources. But, until they speak up or share their names, I really can't say I trust those rumors you present in that statement. I'm sure I'm not alone in that respect. Until then, I am not going to base my opinion on someone elses unsubstantiated and uncredible source's opinion of what should happen to Bobby Ray and Darrel Dickey. Maybe "they" (the recognizable names) are ready to throw a monkey wrench into the athletic department, just to stir things up. If "they" had such recognizable names, why do "they" not have the "gonads" to step up?
  19. I must be lost...
  20. Duplicate post...
  21. Yea, it would. First off, we had Scott Hall LAST YEAR. There was no gaurantee that Andrew would be starting last year. However, he would be this year. And QB play could have contributed, with how many close SBC games we were involved in, Smith could make things happen. We wouldn't stall at the endzone, and get as many field goals as we did. We would probably have gotten touch downs and Quinn and jackson would have been a bigger threat. Teams would have to worry about a QB who could throw, run, RBs that could RUN and catch, and WRS that could catch and run. I don't know how you expect to run a wide open offense with a freshmen QB at the helm.
  22. JJ doesn't have a facility to complain about. The SuperPit as a facility is lightyears ahead of Fouts. JJ came from a winning program before he got here. He is a proven coach. Dickey doesn't have many skins on the wall, and the ones that he does are disregarded by many on this board because it's not big enough of an acomplishment I don't know why slinker has been here for so long either, but I don't know a whole lot about the womens bball landscape.
  23. That's what happened to the Balor basketball team isn't it? Coach got fired, players transferred to other B12 schools and didnt sit out one play.
  24. HAHHA, that's the funniest post.
  25. I know of several anyones who have gonads that big... Every little thing that happens in this program is over analyzed on this board to the point that it creates a mountain out of a molehill.
