FW*Telegram NT planning to build on progress
MeanMag replied to OldTimer's topic in Mean Green Football
obviously you haven't seen research park... I don't know of a nicer building in the UNT system. Besides, they just built a new Chemistry building, and a new environmental science building, which is very nice. I do think that a brand new business building should be tops on the list. -
You know, if Babe resigned just cuz they are on the ticket now, who cares? I don't know who thought he would be a good fit anyhow. Norm and Brad would be killer IMO.

Designers selecting mascot for Dallas campus

I would never run out of Diet Coke if that were the case. -
My expectations of our record- Beat SMU, don't get womped by Tulsa. Win the Belt. This is not Dickey's metric to be fired by. That is a judgment call. I say a winning season. That is not to say I do not want to beat everyone on the schedule. That is not saying I like mediocrity. I hate losing, but if there is one thing I hate more it's sore losing. And to me that is what this boils down to. I don't need to defend myself against being mediocre, for those that know me, it couldn't be more false. Do I think a 9-2, 10-2 or whatever record you guys are expecting is realistic? No, but maybe in a couple years I'll be there with you, certainly not after a 2-9 season.
-
Your expectations are unrealistic considering the season we just had. I cannot believe with all of the experience watching football you say you have that you cannot understand there are rebuilding years in college athletics. It takes time to build a consistent winner. We took 3 or 4 steps forward and 1 step back. Granted, it was a big step back, but you cannot expect to leap forward like that. It would be nice, but I say as long as we don't get whipped like we did last year to mid major OOC teams that DD is doing an alright job. I can accept a loss for what it is, and if you are that sore and bitter of a loser you probably shouldn't be watching or playing sports. Sure everyone hates to lose, but some do it with class, not by screaming bloody murder at the top of your lungs just because you don't get your way, can type and have an internet connection. As long as DD is not embarassing the program by cheating, trying his hardest to win every year and makes adjustments to correct last season there is really nothing I can dislike about him. What do you want?! Stop complaining until you want to buyout Dickey's contract and pay the 5 year salary of the Mac Brown or Pete Carroll you so desperately call for. A 2-9 season is hardly something to get so upset about that you post every day of the off-season about it. The reason there is so much of this filth clogging the boards these days is because the loudest ones on here are the ones calling for DD's underpants. Every level headed individual that frequents this board just passes over this tired crap waiting for the season to start and never responds to any of it while the others just stand in a corner and talk to the wall. Where is the can-do attitude that so many other offseasons are and were filled with? We will never win any fans or donors if they keep reading the kind of crap you keep throwing on this board. We should be looking to improve situations, not tear everyone down who is actively involved in building a program. Affect what you can and realize what you can't. Where did everyone's sense of humor go that made this board so enjoyable to visit in the past? And I will again jump into the shadows while the same 4 or 5 bitter old people respond to this post to tell me that I am a DD apologist and I love losing and am very happy to be mediocre.

2 women were arrested a couple weeks ago in a bar in Irving. These women were from flower mound and were in an upscale bar and were not even being loud or anything when they were arrested and made to strip down infront of a male officer in jail. They spent 11 hours in lockup for going to a bar. Tell me how that is 'fair'. They weren't even given a field sobriety test. Watch your local news casts tonight, there is sure to be more fallout. In this situation, I think the arresting officers are the ones to be bad mouthed. They are the ones with a power complex. They are the ones actively seeking out people. I for one think TABC is a joke, and this "operation last call" is a joke. These officers stepped way over the line, and it has happened other places too. Write your congressmen and women. There really shouldn't be any room for a judgement call to be made in this situation. It should be written in black and white.

For those MLBaseball season ticket holders out
MeanMag replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
I would assume that most of it is unoticed and unrecruited talent just because of logistics purposes. I look for that to change quickly with the WBC. Oh, and they make good money to play ball in Japan, and they're superstars over there too. Anyone else seen the security guards with AK's in the dugouts of Cuba? Think they wanna defect to come play ball in America? I will say that some of the best baseball I've ever seen has been in the playoffs the past few years. This one game stuff doesn't do anything for me. -

Ah, so they did play South Korea I stand corrected. (I am on spring break) Well, hopefully someday they will get here and take the huge contracts away from everyone else so that we can hear a different group of people complain about money. That will be fun. It isn't going to stop just because they are from a different country. PS. As average Joes, isn't it fun to call professional athletes lazy and overpaid? -

Those Korean players will be playing here in the MLB soon. Playing the rest of the american teams on a daily basis just like the rest of the world does. These players realize that if they show off in the WBC it will lead to more money and dreams (in the MLB) than they could possibly imagine. I just don't understand your hatred of MLB. It's like mixing up the MLB teams and having country names on them instead of american and canadian city names. -

Rick, can you not handle that sometimes America doesn't always win, in more than just baseball. People better realize that the rest of the world is catching up. Fast. Just about all of these guys are the best of the best in the world. It takes a lot to make it to the bigs, and any team can beat anyone else on any given day. FYI: the US didn't play South Korea, but nobody has beat them either. They werent even supposed to beat Japan. They just have good chemistry right now. -
Funny, that is where I am and have been all week... Great Spring Break so far.
-
Yea, I'm kinda T.O.'d cuz she hasn't sent me a full body shot yet.
-
I really am, i am out of my freaking mind!
-
Don't be jealous I've been sitting on the beach chatting with hot babes all day....
-
I am going to have to say I really wouldn't mind T.O. here in dallas as long as he takes a shit on the eagle at midfield when we play them. He would be the single biggest asset added this season. His market price is going down, no doubt about that. The cowboys can get a probowl caliber wide out for dirt cheap, half the other teams dont even want to talk to him. He would love to get a chance to play the eagles twice a year just to throw it in their face. Bill Parcells is a no nonsense coach and Jerry is a smart enough man to say, "you mess this up, we pay you nothing."

The ONLY way i know to get those is to join the cycling club at NT. Actually, this is common too with other schools. A&M is the same way.
-
That has got to be the gayest idea ever, and I'm not at all surprised it comes from Oklahoma.
-
To add a sense of seriousness to this thread... I wonder if Dale Hansen will take over the broadcast. Hopefully Babe won't be back
-
The Suns are good. Stoudemire isn't going to be what he was or could have been after the injury from what all the experts are saying. There are other ways to beat Shaq as well. I think the Mavs have a legitimate shot this year, even after dropping 2 in a row to the highest ranked teams in the west. It doesn't really matter how they are playing now, but it does when they get to the playoffs... and they will get there. If they lost credibility with you for that, I don't know what to say. Did the Spurs lose credibility when they got spanked by the Mavs earlier in the season? Or when Phoenix lost the previous 2 times during the season? This is a quote from ESPN's Power Rankings: "Mavs were due for a couple Ls. The greater disappointment is that now, no matter what happened before SA and PHX, they'll be subjected to all the old criticisms." Didn't take long to hear all the old criticisms I guess.
-
I would think it would benefit not only the BCS powers but it would also show the rest of the schools who they have absolutely no shot at recruiting, so as to not waste resources.
-
I might agree with this line of thinking if kids didn't get hurt and have bad grades in highschool football. I just think it is too much of a risk to sign a LOI with the school, unless there are provisions for injury and academic performance. A lot can change in a year.
