  1. I like this one http://www.meangreensports.com/PhotoAlbum....&ZID=506799 But, lemme know if that's just the beer talking, pretty sure it's not tho.

  3. Are you serious? The Mavs are on a 15 game winning streak. The Stars are playing pretty well. The Cowboys are signing new players The Rangers are in spring training The high school basketball playoffs were going on The college league finals are happening A baseball player in Grapevine died from being hit in the head with a baseball during practice. I could go on and on with bigger stories in sports than a junior day including players that might or might not play D1 ball in 2 years. Patience might be our best friend this offseason. It's a good thing we have so many other quality sports teams to watch and support this offseason.
  4. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/champweek200...&id=2789388 Sun Belt (Arkansas State vs. North Texas, ESPN2, 9 p.m. ET) You're not going to find another conference tournament as bizarre as the Sun Belt's. First of all, the hosts aren't there -- the No. 12-seeded Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns were eliminated on the road in a campus-site play-in round necessitated by the Belt's swelling to 14 teams (can't we just leave some teams out?). And anyone who took advantage of all the great seats still available saw No. 1 seed and defending tourney champ South Alabama eliminated by No. 9 seed Middle Tennessee State in Sunday's quarters; after storming the league with 13 straight wins, Team USA suffered a four-game losing streak to end its repeat dreams. That makes No. 2 Arkansas State and its star 6-3 Memphis product Adrian Banks (21.1 ppg) the higher seed in the final. The Indians eliminated No. 3 Western Kentucky last night 80-73 in a game of three acts -- Ark-State won the first and third -- which was performed for an audience of what looked on TV like six people. Dickey Nutt's squad shoots a lot of 3s and defends the paint well, and they were able to salvage a 5-6 nonconference slate with an 11-7 Belt season. Don't count out the No. 4 seed, the long, lean North Texas Mean Green, though. In a startling case of truth in advertising, the team does wear green uniforms and is quite unpleasant to its opposition, as evidenced by its 22 victories and its status as the nation's ninth-best rebounder (36.6 rpg).
  5. At any rate, Norman is only 2 hours away. And, SMU is practically our backyard. So really, we should have 8 very reasonable chances to see our mean green in action.
  6. We line up 10 wide and qb sneak.
  7. Of all people southbendgreen, you should know better than to watch one game and pass judgement on a team based on that.
  8. This Argument again? It's easy for alumns to blame the students for not having the stadium built already. But the fact of the matter is it actually is NOT the fault of the students. It IS the fault of PAST UNT students, and administrators. It IS the fault of the Alumns (none of whom are on this board). The students give plenty already, and if it weren't for what the students currently give, the operations of the athletic dept. would come to a screeching halt very quickly. There are cheaper places too Dallas Green. I don't know when you graduated, but it really isn't that much more expensive to attend classes at A&M or UT. As for Neiman-Marcus education at a Walmart price, well I don't know how you go from the quality of classes to department stores to funding football stadiums and draw a line between all 3 of them and then hide behind such a sad arguement as, "get into the real world." When I would venture to say over half of the students on campus are working in the "real world". And... If I read your statement correctly, I should stop drinking, but you can still do it? That's fair. I think all of your arguments are outdated. You should probably find some new ones. I think for the most part our students are grown up and don't need to prove it to the alumns by paying for a new place for them to bring back college memories. That being said, once I start making millions, I will personally fund the new football stadium.
  9. Are you serious? Since I have been there they have constructed at least 5 new dorms. The college inn is a dump and should be demolished.
  10. I have a friend (UNT grad) that lives just oustide of whistler. he goes there quite often and does wear his UNT garb. However, he left the country in January, so depending on when you saw this guy, it could have been him.
  11. HAHA, I'm still laughing over that. thanks.
  12. Confusion averted, I can now drive safely on the streets again. Any idea if they are going to have any athletic program at all?
  13. When you spend as much time in a car as I do, you have to keep your mind as sharp as possible. These are the questions that need answers. Almost more important than the meaning of our very existence.
  14. So I was driving home today and heard a commercial on the radio talking about the UNT Dallas Campus and I thought to myself, "I wonder how I would write that down?" UNTDC UNTD UNT-D UNT-D Campus If we were to stop advertising it as the UNT Dallas Campus, and just call it UNTD, or UNT Dallas would it have an effect on the mind of the audience? Instead of them thinking, "oh it's UNT's Dallas Campus", they would think, "oh, it's UNT Dallas." Does this make a difference or even matter to any of us in the culture and environment we are trying to promote at North Texas- Denton? And when and if UNT-whatever in Dallas gets big and decides to get a football team will there be any confusion between the 2?
  15. He threw for a lot of games in high school, in fact he threw a TD about once every hundred games.
  16. ... just how much do you NOT think they have? Have you seen their house? Of course we don't know exactly how much they have, but when you spend $45 million on one of 5 houses they have more money than any of us on this board can even fathom. We are very lucky to have their generosity and support on our side.
  17. I feel the same way. If RV came up to me and asked me for $30 to help fund a new stadium I would hand him the cash on the spot if I knew every other student was going to do the same.
  18. I don't know how many people know this, but it seems like not many do... EVERY student already pays for season tickets to both the football and basketball games and it is included in their fees.... Most people just don't take the time to look at the itemized bill.
  19. They do decide early what they will show. And if they can't even get video- they can decide pretty early on that they aren't going to show UNT highlights. So it IS a question of providing video. SMU and TCU almost always have highlights available, and even when they aren't doing so hot, local media will throw them a bone. With UNT they don't even have the option. If we want to compete with SMU and TCU for metroplex superiority we need to act like we want to be there and not wait for everyone to want to be involved with us which is what we have been doing for decades. Again, this is not a RTVF responsibility, it is really the athletics dept. problem. But it is a tremendous opportunity for a RTVF student hopeful to make some very important and influential contacts and friends.
  20. I think you are taking the criticism a little too personally. The fall off he is talking about probably happened long before you were a part of the program I am guessing and it is no fault of the current students. It is a combination of things that has happened over a number of years that probably add up to over at least a decade. The animosity is not completely unwarranted. The resources UNT RTVF have are not as bleak as some may make it out to be, and they certainly aren't the best. (I can name another place in the professional world where maybe the equipment isn't the best, but I contend the production value is on par with competitors.) I can appreciate the hard work the students put into their work, but a lot of the problems may come from current/past faculty accepting less than stellar or fundamentally unsound work in order to churn out the graduates. I think that maybe parts of the RTVF program have lost direction once or twice over the past 10-20 years. For what it's worth I think the 'GreenGuys' show that used to be on KNTU was a very good program. The objective at this point in a students development is to master the basics so that when the opportunity arises to work on upgrade equipment, they can excel and appreciate it. That is why those folks who worked on that show got a chance to prove themselves at the next level. RTVF is a medium that even if bad/old equipment is used it can still be an entertaining and fulfilling experience to those who don't know anything about it-"Vidiots" as one wise man once called them. (And even those that know can look past equipment short-comings). But the media produced is only as good as the person producing it, it is content driven, creativity driven. The common viewer/listener is not going to know how much work it takes to get something on the air, and if they do, then someone isn't doing their job. UNT RTVF has a very good base of alums and resources to pull from should they choose to make the relationships, partners, and friends they need to in order to take things to another level. There is no reason a college in Market 6 isn't one of the best programs in the nation. The pool of talent in that program is great. The opportunity in the market is huge. The alumni base in the field is massive, and should the program notice or care enough to bring those folks back to the university and listen to what they have to say, things would get even better. That is what I think my colleague is trying to say. I, also, would like story time from some of the older alums about how involved the RTVF dept. once was with the Ath. dept.
  21. While it's fun to play conspiracy theory and run around with tin foil on our heads, I really can't see anyone paying a recruiting service to bump up players to 3 stars as if it really makes them play better come next season. SMU has some money, but I really doubt that even they think that is money well spent.
  22. Yes, Even a broken clock is right twice a day and Dickey did find a good one here and there. But come on, lets wait to rank this class AFTER it is official, and AFTER we've seen that they produce on the field. It is okay to get excited about a recruiting class as they are coming in, but to compare the unproven to the proven is absurd. Everytime this year we get excited about recruits. Yes TD is an UPGRADE and god knows UNT deserved to have an upgrade, but let's see what's what after next season. It is safe to say that this is Todd Dodges best recruiting class at UNT ever. Don't say too much beyond that until we see how these players PLAY.
  23. The Cowboy's new stadium is going to be complete by 2009 and that is what, 90k? And it's going to have a retractable roof... 2009 is very do-able depending on when they break ground / secure funding. My guess is it would take around a year to complete.
  24. Well he was a humble Oklahoma country boy before he was a national rushing champion and NFL player... Some folks like trucks.
  25. coincidence. If that were the case they probably would have contacted fox 4, nbc 5 and cw 33.
