I like what Dodge had to say about the QB's. He said whoever is at qb will be very talented and very well coached.

Darrell R. Dickey Football Practice Facility
MeanMag replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
While what happened to Smith was a tragedy... I don't think anything beyond a locker should be named after him. Put up a plaque or a picture or something in the athletic center, but he didn't do enough while he was here to warrant the type of honor naming a facility after him brings. -
Helmet Project Has Updated Some Older Nt Helmets
MeanMag replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
I agree. How many big 12 / big east / SEC teams wonder what their helmets are going to look like next season? -
U Gotta Luv Those Trash Talking Hillbillies Muts
MeanMag replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
This doesn't at all make any sense... -
He posts on here sometimes. It's an internet message board, why would he care to be fond of a message board that talks about what he does everyday? It shouldn't matter to him. We don't even know if he is fond of it or not, and if you do (know) that he doesn't like this board, I'd like to hear how you know. Aside from him liking the board or not, our money is still GREEN. This could also go a long way to making him fond of the board, or the people on it.

As long as he's good I could care less how many stars he gets. If only they rated by black holes...

Scout.com Reports Another 4 Star To Visit
MeanMag replied to Charlie NT 73's topic in Mean Green Football
You know, all kidding aside. If we catered our stadium to (among other people like fans) media.. we just might see more of our games on TV. What do I mean by this?... Add a sat dish to the press box, or fiber lines out. Leave room for camera nests throughout the stadium with lines for cameras already run to a connection box where a remote truck can just pull up and plug in without having to run cable. There are many things we will be able to include in a stadium when starting from scratch, I really hope to see this as one of them. Anything we can do to differentiate ourselves from the other guys, I think we should take a serious look at. -
What Might Attract A Recruit To S M U ?
MeanMag replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
It is funny, because at fouts his mother would be sitting so far away unless she had the PA mic, he'd never hear her. -
Great Story About Coach Hayden Fry
MeanMag replied to Green Means Go!'s topic in Mean Green Football
With all do respect to you PMG, and Green Means Go... I don't know what giving more money to the program than someone else has to do with a discussion about a SMU and Ford Mustang myth/story/fable/truth/whatever. It also kind of bothers me that you would bring it up, I always thought of you as a gentleman. Also, Green Means Go, honestly... I don't doubt that you and Fry had a discussion about this, but as to it's truth... I am still skeptical.. If wanting to learn more about history and the truth makes me a F'r, then consider me Ron Jeremy. Oh well... EDIT: It also doesn't bother me to be called a F'er... I've been a fan of this program during the Dickey era... -
Middle Tennessee Should Make A Conference Switch
MeanMag replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
It probably is... Montana loves that rivalry. It seems like everyone in that state attends both of those teams games, no matter who plays. They are as close to pro as any team in Montana comes. -
The part that bothers me though is not only do they leave off the Co-championship title, they just say championship, like they were they only ones. They ALSO have losses to the other teams, head-to-head. So it's double meaningless. They talk about their 2 pseudo-co-championships like they mean as much as winning it outright like we did for 4 years.
-
Love those ideas.

Well, those penalties definitely sustained drives against us and set us back into punting situations, and that was the most annoying thing in the world. They were always perfectly timed to get the max frustration.
-
Just a guess here... Fan base was building, and then the 2005 season of suck-fest began and folks lost interest. Coming off of Jamario's freshmen year, the year we had back to back national rushing champs and a 4th straight New Orleans bowl appearance?

Is there a source for this statement?

I read the whole post and it said that we did accept his donation... How did we mess that up? I'm ready to accept money for whatever cause it is, but if we can get it to fill a more immediate need- do it. Now if you want to debate whether or not we need a new football stadium, or a baseball team first... that is a good discussion topic, and probably one more worth while than this sad sack of crap that was already discussed in a timelier manner, when it happened.

because they don't know wtf it is they are talking about. they report rumors and speculation. journalistic integrity has been thrown out the window in regards to the stadium. I have not once anywhere, from any credible, reliable source, read that the stadium would be completed in 2009. The athletic dept has never, to my knowledge put a time frame in stone on anything related to the stadium. BTW, does anyone actually know that Alan Goldfield was going to fund baseball by himself, or is that just here-say as well. I want the stadium as much as the next guy, but i'm not going to fool myself on a mythical timetable for completion, until it comes from the school and ath. dept. itself.

Wonder where Brian Waters ended up...

Yea, You're right.. but it doesn't affect my point any.

I would say that San Marcos is a really nice area, and it does sell itself. BUT... Let's not forget where we came from. It wasn't too long ago that we were a big dog in D2. We were in their position along with Boise St., and many many others. There is no telling that they would pass us by, unless we sat idle and let them, which I don't think is happening. Other schools to make the jump recently are Troy State, FIU, and FAU. Troy State came from a very good situation, and has done well, but I wouldn't say passed us by. Another school that has massive potential is FIU. Enrollment is HUGE, and they have a decent budget. There is just no telling what will happen, but being so close to the river can't hurt recruiting.

Could be satellite or microwave. Internet video quality just isn't viable right now.

Actually, we do need more bandwagon fans....

Excellent news Jim. Good to hear NTTV is taking a proactive approach in bettering itself and the athletics dept of UNT. Nothing but a win-win situation if you ask me. BTW if you ever send out highlights again, just let me know and I will stop by the RTVF building to take some highlights to channel 33. You don't even have to drive anywhere now...

For Television: Very good Rangers game in the afternoon on Sunday. Mavs' first home playoff game of the season, and they lost it... Byron Nelson is on the way. And Football season is 5 months away. As for the Papers: I really don't know why they can't send a scribbler up to Denton to give us a little love, but honestly... I didn't even know we had 5000+ people up there until Monday night. What story is there anyhow that doesn't exceed more than a paragraph? There is still a long way to go.

No, I love it and green helmets too, if it were up to me they would be interchangeable and alternate uniforms
