  1. Stopping Dodge's offense isn't as significant at a D-1 level. With the amount of teams there are many many different offensive schemes you will see. Just because our defense can stop our offense doesn't mean that it can stop the multiple formations of an OU, or the running game of an Arkansas. That much is obvious. Our defense may be used to seeing a spread shotgun offense and working against a no huddle. What happens when another team just wants to cram is down our throats, or throw over our heads? It seems to me that Dodge's offense operates within 20 yards of itself, allowing for high completion percentage passes. It's a smart offense to run, no doubt, but not everyone runs it.
  2. You sure are optimistic. A breath of fresh air really. He'd have to do one hell of a job to beat some of the defenses that this school has had in it's past. Mean Joe Greene era comes to mind as a stellar defense. And, Not that long ago, under head Coach Dickey and defensive coordinator Gary DeLoach we had a defense that was worthy of much praise as well.
  3. The Tasty Greek runs the soccer screen saver at work all the time and loves talking about the womens' soccer team to anyone that happens to see it. It's really kind of creepy how much he knows about our womens soccer team sometimes. Then again... it's the Tasty Greek. Has he ever told any of you why he is so Tasty? Or why he has Greek "in" him?
  4. And I am the Shaquille Oneal of shocker joke finishes?
  5. Well, it's a good thing then, that these boards weren't around back then. PMG to be honest, I think it's really great what Hayden did here for this program. But this season is what matters to me. Stop talking like we want to run Todd Dodge out of town. It's not all tulips and Pansies for all of us. I'd like to us win this year. Focus on this year plumm. Not 5 years ago, not 10 years ago, not 20, or 30. Todd Dodge isn't reading this board, and if you believe he is then, he would understand. Because as much as we hate losing as fans, I guaran-damn-tee you, he hates it worse. We don't even come close. I think Todd Dodge is the right man for the job, because he wanted it. And, more than anything, I think he wants to leave a legacy. And his son even bought into it. They will both leave a legacy. They both WANT to be here. And, I WANT them to be here. However, I really want our defense to be decent this season. So if we are questioning some things after being 0-4, I think anyone in the whole freaking nation would be alright with it.
  6. and Todd Dodge.
  7. Way to hi-jack a thread Tasty. The Tasty Greek Jack Sparrow
  8. It's nice to be able to dream, but while it is football related, this has nothing to do with UNT. Unless we win out. And to do that we need to have petition the NCAA to allow us to put 12 players on defense.
  9. That's a nice way to start things off. Well played.
  10. Trickeration worked for Boise, and that is who we are trying to be here isn't it? Or is it SLC we are trying to be? Damnit, I don't even know who we are supposed to want to be anymore. I wish we had our own identity. We should change our moniker to something no other university in the country has.
  11. We did used to have their Defensive Coordinator... By god, you're right! We are more like Cal than NMSU. We have a reason (other than having Todd Dodge) to be happy again after a 66-7 drubbing.
  12. Time to quit talking about how it's "time to quit talking about Slc."
  13. Love how everyone glazes over this. We here at GMG.com don't care about facts. Winning is all that matters. Except when we're 0-4. Then having Todd Dodge is all that matters.
  14. It's only radio.... there's no spelling in radio...
  15. You have to admit it is a little rediculous when one can't gain 500+ yds on a XBOX in one half... And lord knows i've tried. We are giving real life teams unreal numbers.
  16. I haven't... You have a link?
  17. When Stoops' whole coaching staff has no problem laughing publicly about our defensive schemes, and calling them "vanilla" and "high school", I think that is a ringing endorsement for the thought that Mendoza is the biggest problem. Not the only one, but the biggest. You heard the players and coaches from Ark. laughing and smiling and eluding to the same things. Mendoza's defense is not good, and I pray to god he figures it out quickly.
  18. It is my opinion that most students are classless everywhere. They chanted bull shit for plays they didn't like. Happens everywhere, and it shows how truly stupid someone is. The cheerleaders were leading a chant ON OFFENSE. Our fans YELL on OFFENSE. I'll agree we have one of the most uneducated fan bases, but as for students being more classless than another school, I don't know. I'd say it's about equal. It might just be because you sit on that side, i don't know. But I'll have to agree, every single time I go, I find myself in awe of the stupidity on that side even though I like sitting there because they stand up and cheer. After the students figure out what it means to be a good fan, and after they live a little longer, hopefully they will realize how dumb they were. If they don't bother to figure out what's happening at UNT they probably don't give a damn about whats happening at UT or in college football.
  19. Well, it's always surprising how many Texas haters there are to me. This proves that OU can lose, and Texas always has a chance. I would love to see OU beat again because I kind of like laughing at fans who cry after a loss.
  20. For those of you with these lying around
  21. I could care less what he wears. He is building a winning basketball program.
  22. Your sig Plumm, seems to suggest that we are either with you, or against you and TDodge. Because I question what a HS DC can do at the college level doesn't mean that I am not giving Dodge enough time. To answer your question, I would give him 4 years. He is definitely livening up our offense, but it just doesn't make sense to have the same defense from last years team and do worse. I don't know what the answer is, but I know that Bliel has got some ideas. Mendoza, IMO, needs to be picking the brain of every college level DC who has had any success at this level. In the first 2 games we weren't putting our defense in position to make plays. In the last game, what hurts most of all is that I had seen a marked improvement in what the defense was doing. They were calling out plays before FAU ran them. It just still wasn't good enough. I respect the hell out of you plumm, but you can piss in DD wheaties all you want. You can blame him for losing to FAU, a D-1AA team. He won more than he lost that year, and we have more wins in the record books because of it. Dodge hasn't beat FAU either. It's a fact. It doesn't mean I'm giving up on him. Just try to be fair in your judgment of our current players. It is a fair expectation to expect at least the level of production from last years team, plus some. We have too many good athletes and smart guys on this team to settle for a "honeymoon" year. These players against FAU played very, very hard. Harder than I had seen them play for the last 2 years. That is a testament to Dodge's ability to motivate, and the best intangible a coach can have. All of us here are on the same side, and for you to have that signature suggests that people who post on this board are giving up on him. All of your arguments and problems stem from speculation and reading between the lines of what people are typing. STOP MAKING ASSUMPTIONS. I think your signature is a joke, and you should consider taking it down, because I haven't found one person on this board that has a horribly sinister plan for Todd Dodge after one year. Not ONE person has said they will give him 1 YEAR. Find me just one person who wants Dodge's head at the end of the season. JUST ONE. I don't think anyone is being unreasonable. To go from middle of the pack defense to DEAD LAST wasn't expected. For our pass offense to go from DEAD LAST to 3rd wasn't expected. So, because our defense is moving not just backwards, but waaay backwards, is a problem for some of us, you think we don't support. It's kind of insulting coming from a guy who has preached we should raise expectations and move the bar up. Todd Dodge said himself that he doesn't want to be involved with a program that doesn't have high expectations. We can be happy our offense is moving the ball and upset that our defense can't stop it. I am very sure the two are not completely dependent on one another.
  23. I know I posted this in another thread, but what are our reasonable expectations? Which teams left on our schedule can we expect to beat? Monroe 0-3 FIU 0-4 MTSU 0-4 Lafayette 0-4 WKU D-1AA Troy? ASU? Navy? Ark.?
  24. I know that Dickey had been here for a while, but can we stop with all of the Dickeyball bashing? I know it doesn't count for much in some people's eyes that he took us to 4 straight bowls, but he did. And that is a long way from where we are now. I am no Dickey apologist. I think I'm not the only fan who is of the opinion that Dickey isn't half as respectable a man as Dodge. And, I'd be willing to bet the players think the same way. But, what I can respect is that Dickey took us to those bowl games during that time, and it could have been a lot worse. Think of the fan base now... My first game to go to was in 2002 against USF. We lost that winable game and I still came back. Why? Because I saw something in that defense that got me excited. I remember feeling safe knowing our defense was on the field and that they would come up with a big time play or stop. I am not the only one who jumped on board during the Dickey-era. TTG has also expressed his involvement now as being attributable to those teams. This board was installed during that time and it might be a coincidence that it was, but in looking around on other teams' boards, we have a damn nice place to post. Maybe the admin can give some insight as to why it was, during that time, they felt the need to create this board. Maybe because, as a growing fan base, we needed this. Dodgeball might be fun now, because we aren't used to seeing it, but you know what else is fun? New Orleans and beyond. And, having a defense that could create big plays. As for the start: Which teams left on our schedule can we expect to beat? Monroe 0-3 FIU 0-4 MTSU 0-4 Lafayette 0-4 SO, if we suck less than all the other un-feated teams on our schedule (all in the Sun Belt Conference), we might finish with 4 wins. If we can look forward to winning at Western Kentucky, then 5.
