  1. Baylor is a nice school. I've never considered it that great of a school outside of medicine. But that's just my perception. Just about all of their programs are good. The one thing that the school suffers from besides being expensive as hell... Waco. That has got to be the worst town in the whole state to have a university in. Nothing appealing about it.
  2. Just heard that Fran and A&M reached an agreement on a buyout. I guarantee A&M already has another coach already lined up if they did. edit: However, I don't know how credible this is..
  3. Bennett is fired at the end of the year. Word on the street is they are already interviewing. Add LSU defensive coordinator Bo Pelini or offensive coordinator Gary Crowter to the list. I have it from a reliable source that one of those guys is in the mix.
  4. We sure are being a little presumptuous. We don't know what he is saying or what context it is in. It could be something good. Dodge could be pumped about the win. The opinion that Dodge is chewing out mendoza is pure speculation.
  5. We played 2 games where the odds of winning were grossly not in our favor. We have lost 5 games. I do not think anyone would consider wins against SMU, FAU, and Lafayette and losses against OU and Ark. to be a hole. To give our players a winning atmosphere at this point, we need to focus on getting wins against the 3 mentioned prior that we had a reasonable shot to win. If we were 4-2 right now, everyone would know why we had 2 losses, and no one involved with our program would be able to hang their head about getting beat by these perennials. And no one outside the program would consider us a bad team for it. And, given the circumstances, we'd have a reasonable chance at going 10-2. It would be a winning atmosphere. We will get there, and we have been there. If we were able to knock one of them off, keep it close, or have an amazingly entertaining showing against them, it helps in recruiting. I want to continue to play 1 or 2 a year, to (1) gauge our progress, (2) to give our players a chance to do something amazing, (3) to set a goal for the university to shoot for. Tell me, when you walk into a stadium and atmosphere like OU and Arkansas, that you don't want UNT to be there. It is very important for this program to be able to have that chance, otherwise we can wipe them all off, and go back to being a big fish in a small pond in D-1AA, or whatever it is called now. For you TY boys, see if you can interview a current or former player about their opinion of these games and schedules. I might be able to get you a former QB. Or maybe Quoner can confront the greatest affection of his eye and interview JQ. I doubt any player would want to wipe those games completely off the schedule.
  6. I only see one situation to use a prevent. In situations where only one (1) Touchdown win in the last seconds of the game (ex: Hail Mary) and you are worried about the offense getting behind all (11) of your defenders.
  7. We are a D1 program. We (our university, fans, players, and coaches) should want to play and be competitive against these programs. Avoiding them will not change the fact that we, along with every other non-BCS school are already perceived as not being on the same level. I am not saying we play Notre Dame's schedule, but we don't need to complain about playing 1 Top 25 team, and an SEC team in a season. It is our business to play a D-1 schedule, with real, honest to god D-1 teams. Edit: By the way, welcome to the board, good to see you posting. I'm not trying to be an ass, and apologize if my post sounds like I am.
  8. Lancaster got pulled way later than he should have been, and it wasn't for bad play. I swear he broke his left ankle in the 1st quarter, and their coaching staff let him continue to get beat up and take hit after hit when he was clearly in some pain.
  9. Please don't call it a complete game. We played inspired defense for 3 quarters, and made everyone nervous for the last one.
  10. Woe is us. We had to play big bad BCS D-1 schools. I long for the day when we don't disclaimer losses. We are also in the middle of breeding grounds for the most upper echelon players in the nation. Not an attack on you Bryan, I just get frustrated when we try to make excuses for ourselves.
  11. I get your point, I really do. Now understand what offense we have watched for the past 7 years... and what defense we have watched for 7 years... Everyone expected the O to have some growing pains. Defense, not so much. I have a lot less patience for the defense than the offense. Tonight was a horrible offensive performance, and we still won because our defense played well. This is why everyone has been complaining for so long. Tonight is proof that you win with defense.
  12. I'm happy ULM's band made the trip. Makes for better atmosphere. Bands play songs, sometimes at the same time. I doubt the band director will write a letter demanding an apology to ULM's director because a fan thought it was rude. The image I have of the band "getting dissed" by another one is laughable. Even more laughable, is that we would whine to a school that paid money to send their band to our stadium to add to our game day atmosphere and support their team, demanding for an apology. I'd like to think, and know, that we are more gracious hosts than that.
  13. HAHAHAHA I feel OUR FANS are retarded. Screaming North Texas when we are on offense with 2:25 left in the 1st half was STUPID. Our cheerleaders and fans need to be smarter about football. I and others around me could care less about 2 bands playing at once.
  14. The offense hasn't been horrible for 5 games in a row either.... The Defense took a huge step forward today in gaining confidence. HUGE. If they keep it up, they might play like that for 4 full quarters one of these days and have a good game. Being reasonable: ULM isn't a great passing offense, and we saw why... They are a rushing offense, and when we can play to stopping a run and force the other team to be one dimensional, then we can pick some passes. Also being reasonable: our D LINE gets game balls. Pressure all night. Miller and Stevensen played great. Forced some bad decisions. That is good news. Mendoza still has a long way to go to impress me. Our defense was awful with 2 minutes left in the game. Play to the whistle boys.
  15. It makes sense that if you happen by practice and want to watch no one will stop you, but why in the world do you want a fan's event to take precedent over a JJ run practice where he needs focus? Show your support on game day and let them practice when they get the most done without distractions.
  16. You have to be kidding... Practice is an event? I hope there is much sarcasm in your post.
  17. I think what he thinks.
  18. There's something I can agree with. Looking forward to Dodge solidifying the offense next year with some great recruits coming in. The OL looks to get a BIG boost next year. It is very encouraging to see what Missouri has done in the short time running that offense. I do think we have "the man" when it comes to offense. I am also looking forward to seeing how this safety we have coming in pans out. Hopefully he will be a force. It looks to me as well that we are recruiting more speed this year, which is a welcome change.
  19. Ah, yes. I was thinking down by ten, a TD and a conversion leaves you down 2. wasn't even thinking about using this chart AFTER the score. Just thought of it differently, I'm retarded.
  20. I don't really know why someone would go for 2 if they were 10 points behind.
  21. It also implies that you don't expect to score more than the other team. Or that you don't trust your defense.
  22. Don't leave out the option pitch directly to a LB in between him and the RB. Lets not forget the fumble at the goal line, that was luckily covered up by Stickler before the missed extra point. The first half of the game and in particular the 1st quarter was the worst display of offense I have seen this season. Good thing it is all behind us now. I think Vizza will settle down.
  23. He was also a little bigger than Vizza.
  24. I REALLY think it should have been a flag. It should have been a flag in the Texas/OU game. It was kind of obvious, but I can take a no call, and so can Vizza. It is Dodge's job however to get completely irate at something like that, much like Mac Brown. Mac Brown has been around the game for a while, and he was livid about it. And, I'm pretty sure he's seen a few big hits. Big kudos to Dodge for showing some emotion. And even more Kudos to Dodge for keeping the playbook strapped to his wrist instead of stuffing it down his pants.
  25. Rick, I completely agree. I have been saying that I don't buy the "no talent" excuse. They (these same players) have already proven that they have what it takes to be better than they are now. There are no excuses for being this bad on defense. As for the LaLa game, I wasn't able to notice who the CB's were. Did Dominique Green play? I know Roman played a little (whole game?) and had a couple pass break ups and overall I think he did a nice job. Miller played a good 1st quarter. So, maybe someone who has a little more defensive football knowledge than I do, or paid more attention to that side of the ball can explain where our weaknesses are on defense. Are we just that slow across the board? Lacking an entire team speed factor? Are we still missing tackles when we are in position to make plays? It then, makes sense that we ran with 4 lbs last year, and only had 3 down.
