  1. you have to go for 2 in that situation.
  2. Tre talked like he would be back for next weeks game.
  3. We lost to every team but one so far this year. Using your rationalization we should just give up football. Don't play if you can't win. That's a good thing to tell your kids.
  4. I'll go ahead and fix it for you. "The announcement will be sort of like an awards ceremony in which the coaching staff will issue helmet sticker for this season's outstanding achievements. " That's better.
  5. Conference change would be new to me. Add one more to the fire.
  6. I have heard more than one rumor. I have heard 3, but until after the game I don't really know which it is. So, I guess I don't know a thing about it either. And even if I do or don't know a thing about it, I drink Dos Equis.
  7. Rediculous. AND you know it, and are just trying to stir a pot. Lombardi, unlike Saban, had a certain way of stating something about the virtues of men at a very broad level in a more eloquent way than a tired and frustrated Saban wallowing and rolling in his own piss and feces after an embarrassing loss.
  8. what a prick
  9. Don't bet on it.
  10. I really hope he learned his lesson about trying to move and dribble on the perimeter. I would have like to have seen him clog the middle more, even if it meant putting them on the line a little more. His 2 rebounds could have easily been at least 5, but overall he put in some important minutes.
  11. Huge schools sharing indian name sakes are sometimes the only reminders that we have these days that they ever existed. Instead, the only time we remember they roamed this country before Europeans is by visiting their casinos, and engaging in that "vice".
  12. You didn't teach in the hippie generation, so how in the world can you compare them? In the hippie generation you were probably the young guy and as such, are assuming that is what was true for you then was true for the whole. With respect to what you are doing, I think that you still assume that what you see in your job as a CC teacher is true across all academic institutions, and it's plain wrong. You aren't going to find tomorrows leaders in a C.C. unless they are transferring out In my opinion. There will be a 'coming to jesus' for the homeboys that don't want to do anything but hang with their buds. Just like there was back then.
  13. This is no different than the hippie generation. This generation, like the hippie generation will figure out that they will eventually have to cut their hair and act right to make it. That hippie in the white house sure did perform in school and has a great academic foundation... Old guys...
  14. As far as we know, he said he 'was from the hood'. That doesn't make him a thug, and it doesn't mean he should get kicked out of school or off the team. Lets pretend that we all graduated from The University of North Texas and at least act smarter than the comment above. We don't know the whole story. We don't know what has happened. All we can do is trust that things are being taken care of, as I am sure they are.
  15. Close, he was on the team as well, but no cigar. There aren't a whole lot of people that know this bit of trivia...
  16. I know somebody else that played for UNT that wrestled and played football with those fellas... In fact, he was one of my mentors...
  17. You will be able to get tickets tomorrow at the gate just fine.
  18. I sure would like to see a run other than an option-read. EVERYONE we play can sniff that out.
  19. Using the same link as posted in a previous thread. LINK eliminate him from the SMU list... Think he'll be able to recruit to Baylor?
  20. You know, I think a lot of fans use the scoreboard to evaluate just how effective a defense is. Is it a bad thing? I don't necessarily think it is, but there are a lot of things you can know that you don't know by just looking at that metric. The only person who truly knows how well a particular player or scheme is working is the coaching staff and players themselves. I don't necessarily know what exact schemes are in place. I know we run a 4-3, but in certain situations, a player may have a different assignment, turning it into another potential scheme. Before last weeks loss to the patriots there was a story about the cowboys brand spanking new defense they installed over the off-season. I have been trying for the past week to relocate the story (I forgot where I read it). Anyhow in the story were quotes from wade phillips about how his guys were still thinking too much, and playing much more conservative than he wanted them to. He said they were so afraid of making a mistake, missing an assignment, or releasing a man too early because they were so used to getting yelled at, that they hadn't completely grasped the system. He specifically said that people were not trusting the system. He said a lot of times, there will be a guy on defense assigned to the RB, a guy assigned to the top WR and a guy assigned to the QB. So, at anytime if the play wasn't going to that guy, the defender could release and that offensive player will still be accounted for, and the defender could then run to the ball to make a play on it. This is a team that was 5-0 at that point that was still missing assignments and thinking too much, and it showed. That team is just so loaded with talent, they were able to overcome some lapses. It helps that they really haven't played a strong schedule so far this year either. There are nuances and assignments that are happening right under our noses, and unless we are involved in the playcalling we, as fans, miss out on because they aren't on the scoreboard, winning or losing. In a good defense, it would be inherent that we as fans wouldn't know, because if we pick up on what a defender is doing if a qb rolls right or left, you can bet the opposing players and coaches pick up on it a lot quicker than we do and exploit it. At which point everyone in the stadium knows something didn't work. The defense, IMO, has been improving. I went to the OU game. I saw with my very eyes how many big plays OU was able to come up with, and I have seen that number decline throughout the season. This is why, before the last game Dodge explained that we only gave up a few plays the game before. We, until last game had been losing games still, so obviously it was a few plays too many. The last game we gave up another couple of big plays in the last 1:30 of the game. So, there is still work to be done eliminating those. The most frustrating point of this season for me was listening to the post game show in Norman and Arkansas. The opposing coaches all but containing their laughter. I cannot wait until the day we can get payback after we have had a couple of seasons of stability, which I really believe is what it is going to take to get this thing truly rolling again. Dodge knows football, and whether he thinks Mendoza deserves to, or can compete on this level I will leave to him and be a fan, and urge others to do the same. Because it would get very lonely for me, if not.
  21. I thought our running game faired pretty well, myself. Our passing isn't normally what it has been. I swear, if we can get everything working for 4 full quarters it's going to be scary. Lot's of flashes of brilliance in that last game save for the last 1:30.
  22. something more along the lines of soutwest texas state san marcos bobcats.
