  1. They have this all wrong. Our D is improving evey weekend and we now know that to win they have to be in condition which they should be there by now. I think Daniel and Patrick could have breakout games. Depends on the O line. Will they have a break out game is to be seen. They cannot be as bad as they look can they? I think we might see some impressive stuff this weekend. Every year we have a great game that makes the season. I will go on record as saying this could be the one. Still not enough in Ruston: LaTech : 28 UNT: 24 Maybe we will get that punt block or return to switch the score.
  2. I think you have a great point. However there is nothing like a game day experience.
  3. La Tech 31 UNT 17 Offense sucks but will get a little better. D will get beat down at the end.
  4. If you were embarrassed and need to jump teams go ahead. That is why they call fans of a team "faithfull". It is like a marriage. Some days are very sweet and some days are very hard. It is the culmination of these days, the work, the losses, the wins, etc. that bring it all worth while when the moment hits and you realize you only have 1 true team you support. My moment happened at OSU when the Green almost beat them. Referee again. But after I fell in love. It was hard being a fan against UT and A&M friends. But I hung in there. And yes I was able to say I am a Mean Green Faithfull. I got to say this when we went Div 1. When we beat TT, Baylor, Cincinnatti. When we had rushing champions back to back. When I see my friends tailgating at Denton I know who I am with. Mean Green Alumni. From the best school in The Nation. UNT. That is being a fan. If you want to be a Horns fan. Go ahead. You are free to do so. Just remember when I see a hard core fan I always ask them when they went to school there and almost always I hear. I went to " " but I grew up a "Horn" or "Aggie". Something to think about.
  5. I live in Austin and yes it is their pro-sports team. Weather you are an Alumni, student, or just live in the area you are a "Longhorn". It is like the Dallas Cowboys in Dallas. Every store has UT gear. There is a "Longhorn Radio Station." If you were raised in Austin or San Antonio. You are a Longhorn. My advice "Tune it out!" Think about SWT. They get no respect. At least SMU and TCU are small private "rich"institutions. We have no competition in DFW...except of course : Mavericks, Rangers, Cowboys, Mustangs, Horned Frogs, UTA, .... We are growing. No way we compete with Div 1 Top 10....But all you can do is support your team. I am proud to be Mean Green, and always will. No way to fight the system.
  6. give me Troy and the under
  7. My first semester after transferring from SWT. I was 1 lab hour short in my basics. I took a 1 hr MicroBiology lab. It was me a 20 yr old Business Major with 25 Pre-Med Tams students. (Tams is a program where you can take your last 2 yrs of High School concurrent with your first 2 yrs of college.) These students were stellar. Smart. And believe it or not very stand-offish to the outsider. I was on my own. These kids took serious to the next level. However I did make friends with the Lab Prof. I made a very hard "C" vs 25 Easy "A's" It was a great experience. These students excelled in every area and I must say Kudos to the TAMS program.
  8. Kevin Galbreath is correct!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats Corinth Eagle.....You win a beer or a burger.... Kevin was named Player of the Game. Patrick had a 27 yard run in that game and showed us of things to come. Thanks for playing.
  9. Ok, New Orleans Bowl 2002 Andrew Smith 24-19 Cincinnatti 3rd and 15 Cincy is rolling after being down 24-7. 3 straight scores by Cincy. One more stop with 2 minutes would be bad. Dickey call a draw and there you have why Dickey beleives in the DRAW. Hey it worked. RB? wins the prize.
  10. It happened with 2 minutes left and allowed UNT to down the ball for a victory.
  11. RB ? What game? QB? Final Score? Opponent? First one to answer wins a Hamburger at John Denver's tailgate...or a beer. This play secured a first down. It was 3rd and long. UNT was up by 5. This was a marvelous call. It shut down a team that trailed 24-7 and was chipping away at our lead. Hint: I was not there? but saw it on ESPN Need another hint.... Sorry I am bored out of my mind.
  12. Come on Rick V. lets get this straight. This is a no brainer. Nobody likes hall moiniters. And what's up with the cop thing. Maybe they will arrest my 3 yr old. Or maybe I will stop coming to the games. I get so pi$$ed when I hear these stories. Tortillas are part of the culture! Its like a draw play. You look forward to it.
  13. Good Idea. Now go get your Masters from SFA and enjoy 1-AA football.
  14. UNT is having a banner year so far. No OOC wins and one sunbelt victory! We all said this would be a tough year with such a young team and QB questions. Not to mention our defense had 4 returning starters. LB all 1 yr starters at that! So why all the long faces. We will contend for the Belt again. But keep in mind what UNT is trying to accomplish. Growing. WE ARE GROWING. With the size of DFW on the move we will be at 40,000 students in the next 7-10 years and that will push us upward in all areas. Sports being one as well as fan base. With the FW corridor filling in with houses we will surely become more sports minded. We have to have patience and get a new stadium built and continue to foster young Mean Green fans and get the Alumni base stepped up to the next level. This has been a tough year so far. Very frustrating! Keep in mind the future of UNT. It is very BRIGHT and GREEN. Beat TROY
  15. Sure would have been nice to see Boise ST and Fresno ST at Fouts. Not to mention the great Road Trips to Hawaii. I see that cost would have been enourmous.
  16. Whatever will be will be...But after last week, I don't like what I see in Dickey. The Tulsa game was a debacle. Growing fan base wiped out like a mobile home in a tornado. With K-State we have some speculation that this would be Dickey's "Dream Job". Well we will see how he fares this week. Will this be a job interview. How will he react in Manhatten. Look at the facts of Dickey's tenure. He has shown great ablity to recruit but has this jaded him. Always having to develop the 3rd tier player looked over by BCS teams. He is ready and primed for the "next level". I think it is time for UNT to ask for a Head Coach that wants to stay here. An ex UNT player perhaps. We need to go to the next level and Dickey may not be the guy. If he fares well against K-State then everyone will say he could go there next. If he blows OOC again this year this board will look at what went wrong. Alumni at Div 1 need results and so far I don't see a win/win situation however we do against K-State.
  17. Did UNT turn down an invitation to the WAC? A Co-worker said we did. Is this true?
  18. K-State 27 UNT 28 Yea I said it! Dickey has been practicing his game plan since after ARK STATE last year. Since he did not seem to prepare for Southern Miss, MUTS, or TULSA one can only assume he has been saving it for this.
  19. I think I would take UNT for sure. I think this week could be a big turning point in our season and don't think we are that bad. Look for K-state to put 38-45 on the board. The question for the betting guru is will UNT put up 14-21. I would say yes but then again I picked UNT over Tulsa. Hey even Rice put up 10 on UT. Every game is played a little different. K-State will rest its starters in the 4th where Tulsa only had 1 string. Good enough. 2 late scores were flukes and my God we have a week to find our offense. Take UNT and the under. No way these athletes will let themselves get embarresed again. Plus Dickey has been preparing for K-State for 2 weeks anyway. Apparantly!
  20. Hey eagle D. I live in Austin and still have dialup. IE my internet connection to the radio is bad, very bad. I will check in once in a while if you could post a score that would be great. I have a 2 yr old what can I say.
  21. To get in the top 25 would take a whole season. 10-1 (loss to LSU) would give us 20-25 status IF we win the Bowl after that then perhaps 18-25 possible. If we lose to K-State there will be no way to crack the top 25 unless K-state wins Big 12 North.
  22. If this happens then Homecoming would probably be moved a week later to the Lafayette Game on NOV 5th.
  23. HOW IS UT RANKED #1? 0-5 vs OU. Make them win a few before putting on the crown. Let's face it UNT is preseason pick because we deserve it. 4 Rings.
  24. As far as sports wise...The revenue loss is a definate Killer! Take it easy on the newbee.
  25. Big Picture this is a good thing! Football is a sideline to what is important. Maybe UNT can put in a home game with a Div II down the line. Get ready for MUTS
