Talked with my A&M neighbor and he is almost about to get his ass kicked. He was saying they must of had a very bad game. No way UNT will ever compete with A&M. Typical Aggie!!! He loves to get my goat about NT. Thats the thing if you show as much pride in your team then everyone gives you the respect you deserve. He knows where the Aggies stand. They got lucky with home cooking and I say anytime they are ready to come to the pit we would say "Welcome". I hope the Ags have a good season to show our guys that we can compete with the mid-majors and upper teams. I think to get to ACC status that would take some doing! Can't wait for the woman to show up in Austin. That may be an upset in the making!

They are TEXAS STATE. Just like if San Angelo State wanted to change their name which they will not , they would be TEXAS STATE @ San Angelo just like a UTA,UTEP,UTSA, They were the first to do it now they set the rules for their own system. Just like UT will never become UTAustin. They are the flagship! ULL an ULM changed at the same time thus creating a UL (city here) And yes Texas State is gaining ground and UNT will have to compete with them on some level in the future since they are growing at the same rate as UNT except in the Austin/San Antonio Area. They will get to Div 1 status in the next 10 years and yes they will have better facilities. Go Texas State!

Seems there is plenty of room in Denton! Why not put a Law School in Denton. All we would need to do is annex some of the Music buildings and just like that an endowment foundation is formed. State Legislators have UNT ties. We finally field some majors that make some $. Gosh it seems like such a simple formula. Why can they not get it right. Its like the title ix. If you offer a degree in Music then also offer an MBA. If you put out teachers then also put out some doctors and Lawyers. This university offers more liberal arts degrees than NYU. Why can we not meet in the middle and get a law school up in Denton? And as far as South Dallas yea that was a mistake. Just like putting a Law School in Dallas will be and a Pharmacy School in FT worth. Plant everything in Denton and let it grow! Its not like there is no growth going that way.

I heard on a sports talk show in Austin that Patterson was the Dark Horse for the K-State job. If that domino was to fall would it have implications down the line for DD? Bennet to TCU DD to SMU? Maybe Flannigan to SMU?

Question for the experts? If there is 10 Div 1 schools in Texas and Texas has a pleathora of talent how does UNT get overlooked by potetial recruits? I guess what I am saying is why do recruits go to big 12 schools and sit behind 8 other guys at the same position? For Instance: If you play QB. Are there not 5 QB's already at Texas with Vince Young being the obvious starter next year. Also they already received 22 verbal commitments for next year. If you were a 3 star recruit why would you not want to go to a UNT or say UH to get playing time immediatly. I never heard of an NFL player that made it by never starting on his college team. It seems to me that our recruiting effort could come up big with 3-4 names every year by commiting to the player by telling him that as a Frosh he will get major consideration for a starting job. Could UT's 2nd team across the board been better than 2-9?

Furthermore the CUSA boat has sailed. No facilities at the time and SMU sucking the life out of UNT buried that idea. Turn backs on CUSA until such time they ask us to dance. I say we team with Troy or ARK state and flea the BELT.

Looking for 3 extra for Sat game. I am trying to bring my Nephew to the game. He plays for Allen Frosh team. He is 6'5" 255llbs. He may play Varsity next year. The kicker is he sings in an All-State Choir. His Mom. (My Sister) is a UNT grad. This guy is a monster. He of course went to the state fair and wants to play for UT. I am trying to convince him that UT sucks and at UNT he can major in music while beating the hell out of Sun-Belt schools. I just need to keep him away from the Eagle angels.... Did I mention he is 6'5" 255llbs.....13years old.

I think he would get an interview. Have you seen Manhatten Kansas? It is in the middle of nowhere! If they hired a "big" name. That big name would leave for a bigger program. Let's face it, K-State will not attract a limelight coach. It will attract a hard nosed coach who can stay competitive and sell kids on Silo city. A man like DD could be a fit. It is my guess that he has already met with the AD on the trip down there this year. I would love to see DD get a shot. He deserves it. Think about his success here and what facilities he has had to work with as well as the powers that be and apathy of the student body. I say Good Luck DD.

Hey, to be honest I have a part of me that is disappointed but we are rebuilding. I mean every team is down from time to time. We are a young program with Div 1 only a few years. Look at the long term. Do you really think a State School with over 30,000 students will falter. No. Just know there will be seasons like this and we are on the grow. I welcome you back anytime. Our fanbase is a good one and I like your spirit. Come visit our camp at Homecoming and let me tell you of the story of the future. The Mean Green futrure is very bright and you can say I remember my 226th post was one of angst and disdain. I was dillusional! I do love the Mean Green and will never falter again. I live in Austin and I can tell you that they are the Pro sports team here. One of my neighbors is a 27 hr community college grad and yes he sports a flag on game day of the Horns. Another is a graduate of Sam Houston and yes is a die hard Horn fan. And yes if I go to HEB and need a foam cooler I have to get one that has HEB on one side and a Horn on another. And yes I have 2 options for sports talk show. ESPN radio or "The Longhorn Station". And yes my cable provider calls me and asks for 2.95 a month I can get BEVO D channel with Longhorn sports all the time. I love the longhorns. They are why once I am done with my job I will move from Austin because it is so annoying. Austin is not weird it is just an inferior DFW. As far as hippie. Try republican NRA Truck Driving Cowboys. And yes they are #2 and will stay there. Go USC.

The way I see it. If VA Tech was ranked below USC and TExas at the beginning of the season then if they are both 10-0 then VA Tech should be third. It does not matter what the real deal is. People want to see UT and USC in the Rose Bowl. Do you people not get it. Everyone in college football want to see Texas and Calif go at it. They do not want Va Tech.

I agree. But it seems like we could schedule a A&M or OK state. Not a top 10 team every year. Then lets get home and home with CUSA, WAC, MID ATLANTIC and so forth.
