I had higher hopes but it's only because I really didn't see our schedule as being that daunting. Tulane was the king of close games, Memphis was a good team but not great, and UTSA had a huge drop off on the offensive side. If you asked me again to pick the record prior to week 1, I'd say there's 8 wins on the schedule if you can just steal 1 from a good team.

Where I'm excited is the future looks bright. The offense seems set for years with Morris. If Cash McCollum does sign here, he'll redshirt behind Rogers next year and after that, I think he'll take over with a veteran Sides going into his junior year and a plethora of young offensive weapons looking for their shot. The defense had a bunch of young talented freshmen playing meaningful snaps this year. Get some big talented transfers on the DLine and linebacker spots and let the secondary feast.

Next year, we get South Alabama and SFA before heading to Lubbock to play a vulnerable Texas Tech with questions at quarterback. It'll be a huge opportunity to make a statement early in the season but I know Morris will have the guys ready to play for his homecoming. I'm sure Cleveland is looking forward to it as well.

We know the offense will keep us in game, so it’s all on the defense next season. A repeat of this season is disastrous to Eric morris and this program

We averaged over 190 yards rushing per game, and a conference leading 5.1 yards per carry.  And we threw for over 300 yards per game... best in the AAC. Sure, Rogers & backs did some of that with pure athleticism, but we have to give the O-Line credit too. My biggest knock on the O-Line is the number of sacks they gave up this season.

    That’s exactly why I didn’t give them a D

If I remember correctly, our yearly ESPN payout from being in the AAC should be over $6 million more a year than CUSA. Some of these questions are probably Googleable, but:

    1. When do we get the money?

    2. Does the money go to the whole institution or only athletics?

    3. What are we going to do with the extra money?

Are we sure we’re getting the entire sum? I remember reading during the time of our entry into the new conference that we would be receiving $1.5-$2m the first year or two. I had asked Vito and another media guy on Twitter, but they didn’t have the answer. Either way, it’s triple the share from C-USA.

  4. I think you’re a tad bit generous with the OL and TE grades. TEs were terrible, and OL could’ve been less soft.

    TEs = F (never utilized)

OL = C (decent run blocking, pass blocking issues)

WRs = A- (dropped balls and poor blocking).

Offensive coaching = A- (slow starts)

Defense = F (all the way around)

    What a statistically wild season.

For the first time ever, we have a 3,000 yard passer, 1,000 yard rusher, 1,000 yard receiver.

Today we gave up 506 yards, which beats the 473.7-yard average that had us in last place in FBS.

But we also gained 643 yards, which goes way above the 482.4-yard average that had us in ninth place in FBS.

I’m looking at it in a glass half full perspective. We were rated #1 in defense against.
