I think the defense was awful. Jeffries went coast to coast down the middle of the court. This is a no-middle defense folks. Couple of guys got caught ball-watching while MSST drove and dumped it off for dunks.

Some of those dudes joined the squad to be scorers and aren't scoring too much.

Agree with the defense. Agree with the offense. Maybe they need to mix in some zone looks

I feel like we have a lot of good offensive pieces…

I thought that also, but 10 games in, Edward’s is the only one who is aggressive offensively and looks for his shot. Aaron was good the first couple of games, Ruben showed for a couple more, but that’s it. Very disappointed in Buggs and Noland. I thought those two would be more dynamic offensively for us, but they’re not.

Where was Walker? I thought he could play?

  3. This offense is terrible. We simply don’t have any offensive players aside from Jason Edwards. And the offensive sets are terrible. Hodge needs to change this style of offense coz it stinks and it does nothing for these guys. All I see are dribble handoffs and passing around the perimeter. No movement towards the lane from guys without the ball. It’s ugly to watch.

The P5 transfers are all “depth” guys at their previous stops, so to assume they’re going to come here & be amazing players is hopeful at best.   There’s a long track record of guys who barely contribute after transferring here.

Fingers crossed these guys are good in Green!

You’re definitely right and I’m definitely hopeful. However, there has to be a reason they got there.

So far, I like the bounce back of securing a transfer U Minnesota RB that seems to be our RB1. We’ve added depth pieces at WR and TE. Now we just need the keys to what runs the whole thing…a qb.

Rivals shows him at 6'4" 255 and Maxpreps at 6'4" 240. This stuff is rarely every accurate by the time they graduate. If the 247 profile is created as a sophomore, I think the player themselves would have to contact 247 to have the info updated which doesn't seem to ever happen.

I’ll take after the holidays weight of 255, Alex.

You think utsa can afford a higher price tag?

I don’t think this has anything to do with price. Sorry, but Seals stats aren’t overwhelming and people are t jumping through hoops to sign him. It would be nice to have a local kid, but let’s see how this plays out.

That’s why I started with “maybe”. And, you’re right. The smoke hasn’t cleared yet. We are only at the first week of the portal, so there’s still some time.

I am a big Jason Edwards fan, but his basketball IQ is not very good. I think he will gain this. I too see the rushed shots by him, but that isn't because he doesn't get the chances. Look at his attempts per game. Right up there with starters.

What I see is he is trying to be the hero and jacking up all kinds of shots instead of looking for the best shot. Whether he will learn not to do this, we will see.

    Correct

So strange. Never got past a text message. Radio silence since and no phone call leads me to believe UNT isn’t interested. 😕

But guess who is… UTSA. 🤢I heard from Ken’s father this morning that UTSA coach called yesterday and is very interested. UTSA currently has an offer out to a different portal QB and if he doesn’t take the offer, they want Ken.

Maybe his  NIL price tag is a bit higher than what UNT wants to/can offer. Or, maybe they have a group of QBs in their cross hairs they’re keen on signing…if their price is affordable. We’ve been relegated to crumbs under the table. That hurts

TCU made $3billion from the CFP appearance? UF made $billions off of Tebow?  These psuedo millenials are out of touch with reality.  TCU total annual revenues are not even $1billion, how would they have magically earned $3billion by appearing in the playoffs.

It is kind of funny to see fans of 2nd tier P5 schools suddenly realize they are about to get left behind along with the rest of us peons.

Exactly! Second tier P5s won’t have a chance against the big boys of college football and their unlimited resources. They won’t be able to buy championships, so it’ll just be a matter of time for them to start griping also.

I'm not too excited about this yet mostly because I no longer know what it means to "commit".

At this point, has he done something that has contractually committed himself to being here Aug 31?
If so, I'm excited.  If not, I'll wait until Aug 31.

My thoughts at the moment as well. We’ve seen many flip their decisions. Kids are fickle at this stage.

Once their names are out there, programs with the financial resources will surely be waiting to throw money as the window closes. Maybe he’s here for what was being mentioned in another post…rebuilding his stock by gaining playing time to increase his NIL value as a graduate transfer.

  11. Now, could it be possible these kids are simply testing the market to find their value since they can’t hire agents? I know it’s highly unlikely, but in this day and age of NIL, there could be an agreement between the coaches/university and player. If the $$$ isn’t what they think, they can return. I see this as a way to entice younger, hopefully talented players, to still commit here, showcase themselves by playing a lot in a good, competitive G5 conference. We may not be able to keep everyone, but at least we may still have that window of opportunity before another group leaves.
