The run D tends to tighten up as the game goes on. Every single game we allow a long run on the first drive, they just don't come in prepared
And we do really well in the 5th quarter

I don't know what the hell our obsession is with going for it on 4th down on your first drive when you are in field goal range.
Nothing wrong with going for it on 4th down, but truly a piss poor decision on Chandler to go long for it. Secure the first and gamble when you have extra downs

So why did we select Memphis to be our homecoming opponent again?

That is the truth no sense downvoting or rolling your eyes at that comment. UTSA is the ONLY team in college football south of Idaho and Syracuse that plays their home games in a dome. I was there probably not like the people who downvoted and eye rolled. It was cold, wet, windy a miserable. We were a dominant running team and they were a passing team. You couldn’t have crafted a better home field advantage for us that day with 20,000 more fans showing up.
Being dishonest about our program doesn’t help it do better.
Sometimes it feels like people downvote before they even read the post. Oh well

Or maybe if the WR Smart didn’t go out of bounds which game Tulane extra time to score another TD before the half.
Anyhow, it’s amazing for Chandler to throw 50x and did not throw an INT. I recommend he ice that elbow- 3

You can’t act like Morris is a proven coach. He hasn’t proven anything. And, even tho we were competitive yesterday, we still lost. We all came in to the season with high hopes. In fact, he thought we would be competitive right away. He misjudged our talent level, and didn’t firmly institute his culture and building process. So, based on each individual point of view, we’re either underachieving, not coached well, rebuilding or a mixture of those.
Look, I want UNT to succeed. Yes, they played well and hung with a ranked opponent many view as the best team in the conference. But, we also lost to FIU and Navy.
We’ve already played half the season. We are what our record says we are, ultimately. Now, how can we maintain this trajectory/momentum if you can call it that? Can we be more consistent and play well for two halves? So, Until these questions are answered, Morris and his staff should be scrutinized. If we want to be in a big conference, we need to act like one and demand success.- 14

I have been thinking all along that Rodgers was a Senior. I just found out he is only a Junior.
How nice would it be going into 2024 knowing we have the QB position solidified (assuming the transfer portal does not strike again). Harris and his 7 year run at UTSA have been the main reason for their recent success.Anyone know the class status of our OL? Gonna be mostly a new group next year?

This game should be great for the team’s confidence. We hung with a ranked opponent, and possibly the favorite of the conference. We were suppose to have lost by 20. They were touted to have a very good defense (best in the AAC), if I heard the announcers correctly. This shows that our offense can hang with the big boys. With Chandler Rogers, we have a bonafide qb that can win us games if the defense can do its part.
Speaking of the defense, I’m proud of how they played. They made stops, created turnovers, and played big more times than any game we played so far. Could we be much better…of course. Did we give up a lot of plays and Still missed a lot of tackles…absolutely. But, if this is the effort they bring to every game, I’ll be over the moon because it gives us a chance. Do I still like the 3-3-5…he’ll no. Caponi isn’t off the hook for me, but I’m happy to see progress.
Next test…will we be consistent?- 8

Several times in the 2nd half, the announcers mentioned their defense was playing 2nd and 3rd string players, especially DBs. Was this due to injuries or just trying to get PT for lower tier players? Did this factor into our comeback?
If you were the coach, would you wait til the game was close to put your starters back in the game? Even if their coach played the bench, he more than likely put them all back in when it was at least within 14 points.

Losing on the road to a ranked team by a TD is a good effort and we should be proud. Still sucks to lose though, because it was there for the taking.
It was a tale of two halves. They need to put good halves together

Very proud of the second half effort. If we can learn to do that in the 1st half too, we will be a really good AAC team. The rest of our schedule doesn't look as bleak after this performance.
But, the receivers have to learn to sit in the zones and let Chandler deliver the ball. Those passes weren't behind them. They were in the open spots in the zone. And, while the defense can come up with big plays, they still can't consistently stop the run.
Definitely agree regarding the WRs. They should know if it’s a zone and when to settle.
I thought the run defense was so much better. Yes, they still allowed over a hundred yards to a RB, but those QB runs are what killed them.- 2

There are no moral victories, but I’m encouraged by:
- The fact that we have a QB FINALLY. There is no controversy, Rogers is your guy
- The defense showed signs of life
- Nobody is more upset by this loss than our team. I guaran-damn-ty you they believe they should won
- Thousands of North Texas alums just saw their squad go toe to toe with a squad that ended last year with a Cotton Bowl win over USC
- I now have a reason to begin my homecoming tailgate on FRIDAY!!!
Sounds like a moral victory to me

Props to the defense. Much maligned, but they kept us in the game. I hope this is how we play the rest of the season. I can definitely live with this. Great showing Mean Green! Keep your heads high!

Why exactly did Horton have permission to take it out of the end zone??
Is he the same guy who dropped the 4th down pass in the first half?

So Morris decides to pay this guy that much as a FIRST TIME DC for this? Seems like a panic move by Morris.
