Tell us you are an idiot without actually telling us. Congratulations - you just did. And the living in mom's basement hit home Lol. Your rant described you to a "T". A grown man Hoo still lives at home playing tough guy on a message board. Pure comedy!!!! - Never allow facts to get in the way of a great story. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Edwards is a 2 guard - not a 1. UNT runs a 3 guard lineup not a 3 PG lineup. Why does it feel like we arguing with each other but agreeing with each other at the same time? I am agreeing with darn near everything you are saying. - Never allow facts to get in the way of a good story.

Again no conversation can be had without a reference to your God. That is annoying, arrogant, and hypocritical as he is at K-State. The going with a good story went over my head. Absolutely no idea what you are attempting to say. How about I keep my tag line & you ignore my drivel. Tough guys can always be found in mommy's basement hogging bandwidth. - Never allow facts to get in the way of a good story.

Define on fire. If I am 6 for 12 can I shoot #13? - Never allow facts to get in the way of a good story.

No one is absolving anyone. But allow me to retort. Starting must mean something because we are now at 4 close losses and the starting lineup has not changed. The unofficial definition of insanity comes to mind. I'm so new to UNT that I am not sure if the following is true, but if so God help us. Once UNT decides on a starting lineup it will only change due to illness/injury. Someone please tell me that this is myth. If it is true - Houston we have a problem. Starting means something when you bring your leading scorer off the bench. Why not be up 13 at the half instead of 12? Why purposely keep your weapon on the bench? Losses by 1 - 4 - 5 - 1 make me question this strategy. As for minutes played....they lead into your stats & makes/misses. This was already covered. He isn't a part of the offense (someone asked earlier 'what is the offense'). He shoots whatever he can get because he has no idea if or when he will get the opportunity again. I called those hurried & bad, but I understand why even if I don't agree with it. Someone other than me noticed how the PG doesn't pass to him. He suggested bad blood or no trust. Irrelevant - PG needs to do his job. Find and hit the open man! Today you got decent splits from #2 and a PG that was not so good. I am basing my opinion on experience & what I am seeing. I did not like every guy I played with. It happens. Up to CRH to figure out how to handle it. I saw it - someone else saw it - and if it continues then others will see it. Then what? Missing that last shot happened & will happen again. Instead of wishing for a miracle shot at the end of every game, how about wishing for a lead greater than or equal to 4 on the final possession. Make that 5 because we committed 3 fouls on made 3 pt shots vs Boise State. SMH - Don't let facts get in the way of a good story.

Why are we consistently in those (close game) situations? The starting lineup needs to change. Rubin-Scott-Buggs-Allen-Stone. Allen for reasons a blind man could see. Stone because you need a player that does the dirty work. More than adequate scoring among the other 4. Sub Rubin, Buggs, Stone/Allen depending on foul count. The sub package needs to include someone other than Edwards/Sissoko/Noland. There must be someone on the bench that is capable of not giving up middle & making a shot. - Never allow facts to get in the way of a good story.
-
You mean Allen/Sissoko, Buggs, and NOLAND simply doesn’t replace Abou, Kai, and Perry. These replacements bring the level of play down compared to years past. Edwards does not start and cannot nor should not be compared to last years starters. Boise State - Buggs 0 Noland 12 (1st Half 10 2nd Half 2) Fordham - Noland 0 Buggs 8 (1st Half 6 2nd Half 2) My new signature line for the season "Never allow facts to get in the way of a good story!"

Hello Edwards Mom or Dad, I've asked this same question. Don't allow the down votes to get to you - it is more than obvious. There is no bad blood between the players as they barely know each other. Rubin has "waited" his turn and the last thing he is about to have happen is another small guard come in and steal all the glory. This is Rubin's team and it will be shared with A-Scott and A-Scott alone. The JUCO kid needs to go back to JUCO. Rubin will turn the ball over before giving it to Edwards. Not sure when you first realized this, but I dare you to go back and watch prior games armed with this opinion. You think you are "wondering" now - you will be pissed because a couple of those losses will become wins in your mind. "Never allow facts to get in the way of a good story!" - Professor Radojavic

8 games in: what do we now know of the Hodge era?
HoosMeanGreen replied to greenminer's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I agree & disagree. As a basketball junkie, I watch too many games and the first time I saw him I immediately knew his "problem". It "looks" like he just jacks up shots. So I found some of his prior games and is was eye opening to see the difference between then & now. They ran sets for him at his last stop. Here - not really. That's was why I stated earlier that I think his shot selection is horrible. I stand by that. But I also think it is because they don't run anything for him. So what does he do - he jack's up the first ball that hits his hand. Ala a HORRIBLE selection for a shot attempt. Shot attempts are up there with the starters because he is taking bad shots. If you ran no sets for me, then best believe that when I get it, I am shooting it. Hmmm - maybe that's why I always get picked last at the outdoor courts. LOL!!!!!!! I think if he becomes a "part" of the offense, then his shooting splits will return to his last stop. 50% from the floor and 40% from 3PT land. *Today vs Fordham he went 5-10 FG and 3-4 3PT FG (It appears as though he is starting to learn.) 351 teams in Division 1 men's basketball - 5 teams have their leading scorer coming off the bench - UNT is 1 of the 5 #GMG #GoHoos -

Until he does. The final 2 critical score possessions (down 4 or less) had shots taken by Buggs & Nolan (air ball). The last drive to the basket by Edwards with less than 5 seconds remaining meant nothing as there are not 5 point plays. You want a closer, then give him the ball. I for one would like to see him become a part of the offense and stop standing in the deep corner. Most of his shots are horrible in my opinion. They seem rushed - hurried. It’s like if he gets it he has to shoot it because it may never come his way again. The lone 3 he hit was a designed play (I know the play because we ran it when I played). I couldn’t believe they never ran it again. The craziest of things is that he is the youngest & least experienced of the 8 man rotation AND he is not received very well here. YET, in his short tenure, he has put up equal to or better numbers than your God Tylor Perry in his first season at UNT. Only exception is that your God was a true Junior! Nothing wrong with having favorites. I admit Matt Stone is mine. But not seeing the gem we have in #2 is just odd. True validation to the phrase “We can be in the same place, at the same time, watching the same thing, yet see totally different things.” My first introduction to UNT was when Virginia missed the NCAA and played in the NIT. Your God couldn’t save you that day. 5 of 13 shooting 2-7 from 3 and 4 TOs. Played 45 minutes and produced 16 points to a bad UVA squad. #2 has to play 2 games to get to 45 mins. This was your God’s 32nd game of Year 3. Ease up on #2. It’s been 8 regular season games - 8! The way the roster is currently constructed, I could see him follow in the same footsteps as your God. AAC 6MOY and hit the portal. He’s already done enough to show he can play if he isn’t hidden in a corner while the team plays 4-on-4 basketball. -

8 games in - Thoughts - Heavy is the head..... Really wanted to see 10 games, but technically they have played 10 (closed scrimmage & Exhibition). However, my thoughts are subject to change with another 2 data points. Here goes..... CRH is learning on the job. Heavy is the head that wears the crown. He's the head guy now. The seat is different, and if you ask him he will say the same. This isn't JUCO where he had the luxury of having really good teams and this isn't the same as being an assistant. I loved how he took accountability for his coaching lapse in last night's game. Post game pressers tell you nothing while telling you everything. The immediate outlook on CRH remains high. The team or shall I refer to them as the pieces - they are in Oz now. Decisions must be made that could spell success or lead to a rebuild. Individually they ALL bring a vital needed element to the game, but they are not meshing. I've tried to put my finger on it and I want to be wrong - so very wrong for what I "think". Kai, Tylor, and Abou are gone and the reigns have been handed over to Rubin & A-Scott. Sissoko has been asked to continue his "March Madness" level of play. A-Scott is the "draft prospect" and Rubin is the heir apparent. Step back 6 months and none of the guys were asked nor expected to lead this team. Heavy is the head.... It takes stones (no Matt 'my favorite player' Stone pun intended) to take shot clock beating, game tying, game winning last second shots less more deliver on them. There is a lot of pressure to continue what they (carry over coach/players) started last year. I see that pressure or so I think I do. I also THINK (and I yell THINK) that a player is seeing "ghosts of players past". And that is what worries me most and I don't want to be right - I need to be wrong. Only time will tell. The pieces need to check egos (stolen from another CRH presser) and to play to win as a team at UNT and not play to win individually in the portal. Once the pieces do this, they could be a team to be reckoned with. Until then, they will remain good pieces that can play well in spurts, but don't have an identity to win meaningful games. Quite a bit to unpack from last nights game, but the OP inquired as to thoughts on the first 8. -GMG -

They actually have played together 8 times under this coach - but your point remains valid. -
Inability to close games = bad team/unlucky/bad team

Really - Hoo needs reminding? We lost to Wisconsin on Monday as well. And don't forget to toss in them fact that we were the first ever Overall #1 seed to lose to a #16 seed. #StillWonItAllLater

I actually got a chance to meet Stone over the weekend. I enjoyed watching him play and he has quickly become my favorite player. I too thought he had a solid tournament. -
Emotions over logic. Maybe because my undergraduate work was at a multi-bid conference that I developed an us vs them mentality. I never found myself cheering for our conference. Going to have to get used to cheering for other teams. The learning curve here is steep. I’m up for the task. About to head into the final game of the tournament and cheer the team on with the other 22 UNT supporters that made the trip. GMG!

Sorry but all I care about is UNT. Win the conference and we are in. I lose them I root for whoever you play. Sorry, but not sorry!
