  1. I wonder how this data is gathered, how to interpret this data to understand what UNT needs to succeed, and understand trends in success for schools both academically/on the field. I knew that UNT was one of the most over leveraged schools in FBS at one point. That’s why we struggle to make capital investments (audio, video board, etc) My $50 donation every month is not moving the needle.
  2. We really don’t have the luxury of dismissing any game this season. UTSA is going to be battle we can’t look past. We take this week by week. This one is a stout Memphis defense and running game. We saw FAU play a similar game and we fought like hell to win.
  3. Did anyone watch the Memphis vs USF game? Memphis looked like they didn’t even want to win the game, but they accidentally did. USF was feeling like Oprah- you get a turnover, you get a fumble, you get an interception. I’m excited for next week. It’s time to hit the hard stretch!
  4. This season has been sweet to me. I attended UH during the Herman and Applewhite years. This UNT team is healing old scars. Thank you all so much!
  5. /thread literally every thread about attendance summed up in one post.
  6. I was flirting with a good looking tree by the side of the road, but I’m glad I watched those last 4 minutes. That was hell on my heart
  7. Honestly this is from moving up to the American. More reliable schedules and consistent broadcasts. CUSA was struggling to find slots 5 days before the game for webcast only. Gone are the Stadium days. I loved watching games for free, but it doesn’t help the program get to the next step. Look at the programs left behind- relegated to playing Tuesday and Wednesday for tv time.
  8. Go beat Tom Herman! I need revenge for my Thanksgiving trip to Memphis from my old Houston days. I felt like I was left at the alter.
  9. If we lose to Memphis and Tulane but win every other game, this is just ammo for another Frisco Bowl. We have to break through the top layer of the conference!
  10. https://www.wsj.com/us-news/education/sorry-harvard-everyone-wants-to-go-to-college-in-the-south-now-235d7934# I saw this article recently about how students are attending school in the south more often when given a choice. I found the culture and traditions piece interesting. Students want to be a part of the community. Homecoming is probably the only time I really felt UNT promote their culture. I swear most of the time I thought pickles before the game and mean green tea shots were traditions. We have a fundamental culture issue. UNT lacks a personal connection with our alumni, Denton/DFW community, and students. Lots of people I graduated with 3 years ago- are glad they got something out of being here, but they don’t care about the university’s long term success. They don’t feel like they are a part of that growth and don’t feel empowered to help drive success. We make noise at the stadium when we’re 3rd and long because we want to help the team win.
  11. I went to the watch party in Houston for Tech. Great people, bad game, and very empty. I get it- midday game. We have a reservation every game, but there were more Tech fans in the bar by chance. Their official watch party was 20 minutes away. If the university wants to actively promote the school, this is an easy win. I attended an VMI watch party. They work with alumni in the area to promote events across the country. They have travel engagement personnel that make away games fun. We need a SE chapter based out of Atlanta.
  12. I agree partially with this statement. The AAC is defined by schools is medium to large metro areas. Does ECU, Tulsa, and Wichita St. reach this criteria? No Are they schools that have the financial resources to compete? Yes They are solid members that bring some fun into what I’ve seen called the Commuter School Conference.
  13. I guess that means that G5 will be characterized by regionality. P4 is relying on historical traditions to carry themselves on the national scale. Have we lost the dot on what made college football so special? Then again, UNT is playing their long time rivals- the Temple Owls. On Thanksgiving!
  14. There’s the official American podcast. They’re definitely ironing the kinks out (aka is this an American fluff piece?).
  15. NC State v. Tennessee started a few minutes after us last night. They wrapped up a full hour ahead of us. Maybe it’s because we aren’t trying to fit the TV slot, since we stream online.
  16. I agree, but we need to adjust our mindset in this era too. We need to use the portal effectively too. We built a team this year that can run and gun on offense. A DL that can hold the line. SFA clearly got P4 transfers going to their program too. There's no way they are more resources compared to us. How do we use the tools given to us to further differentiate our level of FBS from FCS?
  17. I feel bad for the folks at the game. The ref mic feedback is bad
  18. Solid student turnout! Stadium seems quiet on stream. How is it live?
  19. Tech is going to tuck us in early for bed at this rate.
  20. What's wild- UNT ran that play consistently in Mobile. The receiver hesitated and did not catch in motion. Morris is still throwing well imo. Let's get them on this drive.
  21. Love to see a decent number of Lumberjacks make it out. Hopefully they leave the axe handles at home. UNT 56 SFA 17 Attendance: 20,6XX
  22. Should the AAC add anyone? Should we expand the footprint or fill in the gaps? What criteria should we look at- large market size, existing commitment, athletic master plans, sports played, student demographics, academics? Personally, I like a 12 team football schedule. Basketball is a little funky. I wonder what the opinion is from the other sports. I would like love to add a Georgia school so I can attend a game, but I don’t see anyone worth adding unless GaTech wants to party. I feel like, after adding Army, it’s almost a given to pursue Air Force. Create a system around the service academies just sounds cool. If we dropped a school
  23. https://riceowls.com/news/2021/10/29/general-rice-athletics-launches-100-million-capital-campaign Rice has all the potential to remain competitive. However, I agree with everyone here in that I don’t see specific activities Rice Athletics can action to achieve excellence on the field. Money doesn’t mean much when you don’t know how to spend it.
  24. AAC’s strategy looks like they pick up schools that are located in major metros. Our endowments, academics, and student populations range from decent to amazing. I love our conference because I can fly in for a weekend to a game and enjoy a new city. Logistics for teams is easier than flying into places with no infrastructure. ECU is probably the only true college town in the conference. Tulsa- meh. I would support a run from anyone in the American because it helps UNT achieve its goal of financial, marketing, and athletic excellence. Watching FAU in the final 4 was awesome and inspired me to go there for a game. UTSA and the UT System is investing heavily into their athletic program https://www.utsa.edu/masterplan/pdfs/MP_Athletics.pdf. They’re going to be around for a long time. We need to get over a misplaced ego and work making UNT a destination for excellence.
