Who would improve the defense? Has firing anybody at your job ever helped you do your job and the other guys job for 3-6 months better? I rather get the most out of a bad situation. Caponi can do the admin work on recruiting, approve job reacquisitions at UNT, and continue to ensure our players are sticking to the regimen (class, training, diet).

Because we choose to drink the green kool-aid! We have to believe or no one will.

I would look to Houston. Holgerson didn’t leave much, but they have a solid defense. Bradon Hall at OU. Decent record at DC. I haven’t even looked at FCS coaches. One of the pros of UNT, we’re near so many Power 4 teams. One of the cons, we’re near so many Power 4 teams.

The real question. Do we have a problem trusting our kicker? This is UNT. Those are some of our best players!

I think we got some defense transfers, but preseason injuries took off the DL depth. Also, we needed to restock on offense. We got picked clean on that side.

Army and Navy are the grim reaper in the conference. If you have a flaw, they will exploit it and break your moral. UAB and Temple might be the dregs of the conference, but you can see the mental pain on their faces during the game.

But let’s pay him, overextend the staff, and start a scramble while there are still games to be played. Succession plan and continuity matter in an organization. Rock the boat too hard and you’ll tip over. There is a time and place.

The players put on weight, learned the scheme, and really try. But as a unit, nothing seems to come together.

I agree, we have stopped Memphis on what could have been a short drive. We really excel at stopping the screen and congested pass.

The just past the glory days

Ahem, you just said it without saying it.

I think there is more to talk about. Someone talked about the size of our supporters. I agree it’s built person by person, win by win. However, is North Texas putting its money into telling anyone we won? I remember seeing UH, Rice, and UTSA billboards in their cities. We have them going into Denton county. Aren’t we the school with the most valuable TV market because of the metroplex? Is the Alumni Association effective in its mission of promoting the community postgrad? How many people are casual fans that wear a UNT shirt on Fridays into work? Why does @Matt from A700 have to make the Mean Green Infantry to promote road games? I love the spirit of the UNT faithful and I want us to succeed, but are we setting ourselves up for continuing success? I’m having to watch the Tulane game with their alumni group.

I love that we made the move to the American, but how do we make our conference more fun? My thoughts- 1. Texas Triangle Trophy- UNT, Rice, and UTSA. Most wins across all programs 2. 50 shades of Green- UNT, Tulane, UAB, Charlotte, and USF are all green colored schools. 3. Booty Bowl (49ers vs Pirates)- Charlotte vs ECU 4. 3 Owls- Rice, FAU, and Temple 5. Crawfish Bucket (Gulf Coast Rivalry)- Rice vs Tulane 6. South Plains Native Nations Recognition- UNT, Tulsa, and Wichita State 7. Discount tickets for Veterans when we play Army or Navy. Sell tickets at the VFW. Flyovers, salute to veterans, and ROTC recognition. 8. FAU vs USF- Florida rivalry 9. Temple needs to embrace the carpetbagger/Yankee persona. 10. Memphis vs Tulane- Riverboat Rivalry

I feel this post. I’m in Atlanta. I’m riding on a prayer trying to find a place to watch the UNT game this weekend on ESPNU. I’ll come up to Philly for Temple basketball next year hopefully!

I love the coverage on the audibles and play reads from the players perspective. It really shows how this is a team sport. Seeing that we have smart players all over the field, it really says a lot about how we develop and recruit.

The UT System is actually pretty supportive. Look at the funding mechanisms for UTSA, UTEP, and UTRGV’s athletics. Austin is in a good position and knows that, if we want to rival the UC system, the other schools need to improve. I believe that’s part of the reason for SFA takeover and Prop 5 passage. It’s time to invest in Higher Ed before the bubble pops with student loans.

Put us in the Armed Forces Bowl you cowards! It’s in the metroplex. The American has a tie in. One of the largest employers of our alumni sponsors the event. It’s on a Saturday! Please make some noise on social media and let’s go to a bowl that matters.

Man, we are up there, but let’s see where we are at the end of season!

We didn’t come to the American to play weenie hut junior football. We want to play games on Saturdays? We have to compete. College football is getting harder, budgets are tighter, and it’s hard to find a bar in Georgia to watch ESPNU during the same time slot as Texas vs UGA.
