7-5 in the AAC is a good season coming in lol. 7-5 in CUSA is debatably bad sure, we never even won CUSA… how can some have such high expectations that a winning season isn’t viewed as a positive this year

Who is your sleeper player on the 2023 UNT roster?
Coltonw83 replied to Jonnyeagle's topic in Mean Green Football
I like Kaylon Horton, he go zoom. Predicting him (based on hope) to lead the AAC in return yards, 1-2 returns for a TD, 500+ all purpose yards on offense. -
Not sure AAC schools are excited about us joining
Coltonw83 replied to Ross Hodgeson's topic in Mean Green Football
I’m really not out here trying to defend FAU, but he mostly cares about basketball and he tries to say they had countless super seniors lol. FAU basketball is incredibly young…. He says UAB is the only threat when we just beat them to win the NIT lol. He simply doesn’t know anything about the new teams and I really hope his precious basketball team gets its ass kicked by these legit basketball teams we have coming from CUSA. -
I grew up in Cooke County and first went to college in California. I absolutely bombed it, I was a great test taker and did well in high school, but I was extremely lazy and had no study habits or drive to be a good student. Also, right after school started there was a tournament in a game I had gotten good at and I went to LA and won some money, then turned it into a job for 4 years. With the gaming stuff I most recently played for "Complexity" which is the esports team associated with the Dallas Cowboys and Jerry Jones, got to eat around the players at the Star's cafeteria so that was cool. I got lucky that randomly fell into my lap and my winnings/salaries paid off the out-of-state tuition I accumulated before dropping out (1 1/2 years worth, should have dropped sooner) but my GPA when I left was like a 1.8. It should've been a much more punishing experience for me than it was but oh well. Anyhow, the gaming thing wrapped up and I moved back home to give college another go at NCTC to get my associate's degree. Thanks to finding a more suitable major and some great professors, I started to learn how to study and I began to enjoy learning. I found that I actually wanted to continue school and UNT was perfect because I could commute and my garbage GPA didn't keep me out. I am graduating with my Finance degree today, but while I was here I took Professor Engler's business law class and really enjoyed learning about the law. That spiraled me into learning about law school over the last couple of years, and ultimately I will be starting at Texas A&M Law in August. UNT let me in and provided me with an opportunity I wouldn't have had in many other places, and I've met so many people I respect and want to keep in contact with. I will be close enough to continue to come to basketball and football games and I am very grateful for this university. Sorry for the long read, GMG

Flying worm apple green is my favorite tbh. But standards as you describe is good too

College degrees are going to be more necessary assuming AI and robotics continue to advance and become more efficient. Completely unskilled labor (not talking trades) seems more likely to be to shrink in size than the need for a college degree. UNT also just had its highest enrollment ever, so I don’t think we’ll be hurting in that department.

At least for like the last 7 years the Rangers didn’t get your hopes up anymore. Compensating for their 28-3 Falcons moment. Can’t say I’m not excited for them so far this year though, stress > being so bad you don’t care

Might be able to attend today. I love watching Horton with the ball in his hands on offense, not just special teams. I hope the new staff still calls his number a decent amount of times this year on jets, screens, handoffs. Not sure he can be a pure wr but his speed and quickness remind me a lot of Darden, exciting to watch

This made me google because I’m too young to recognize the father, that brother is pretty good too lol

No more clock stopping on 1st downs?
Coltonw83 replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
Should help run first teams in theory right? -
Joe Greene went on to the NFL and is debatably the best to ever play at his position… (Though I guess most would say it’s Aaron Donald now)

The social media presence makes it feel more involved and up-to-date for us fans. But also, social media is incredibly important for recruiting and it's important to recruits so yeah, it's a breath of fresh air and really exciting.

Breaking: SOC DB Kerry Williams commits to North Texas
Coltonw83 replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
That gives us 4 commits from SOC right? Can’t argue the Texas connections in recruiting aren’t already being flexed lol -
Officially Announced: GM the HC for TTU
Coltonw83 replied to Travis's topic in Mean Green Basketball
You guys aren’t upset at the way it was announced or the timing lol. You’re upset your last hope of him actually staying has been crushed. Be appreciative for what he has accomplished and support the team and coach that we have going forward. He left us better than we started and he is taking advantage of an opportunity that should theoretically help him and his family. -
Man I love Tylor Perry, so damn clutch
-
Yeah I mean he set and broke just about every record and is responsible for all our biggest wins. Grateful for him no matter what
