My fraternity just canceled our tailgate for tomorrow. Rumor is that many frats will be cancelling as well. I saw that the athletic department is giving away free t shirts to the first 500 students, however I am not confident 500 students will show up... You're not going to get students walk across miles of asphalt and uncovered areas just to watch UNT football... Tomorrow will be a day that greatly displays the negative aspects of NIMBY stadium projects and the impacts they have on collegiate demographics.

Key to win is definitely through the air. Tulane has allowed more passing yards than us (wild to look at on paper) -
UNT vs. Tulane (10/21/23 Score Predictions)
rojomojo replied to Big Z's topic in Mean Green Football
If we were playing Tulane from early season, I think we may have a fighting chance. However Tulane has drastically improved so it's difficult seeing an upset here. Tulane 44 UNT 20 Similar vibe to the Cal game -

I am staying quiet until Northern Iowa makes this page truly relevant -
Didn't we literally do a free tuition raffle for the last home game?

TONS of it is done over the internet with twitter and highlight reels.

All I am saying is if we but even just a bit more effort in recruiting in different markets, it would help us not panic every time we have a homegrown dude decommit for an out of state program. Just send a few dudes to some football camps around Florida and LA... Sometime's that's all it takes to expand your brand

Alright guys, here's why I care so deeply about this... Texas has the best high school football in America. There's no denying that and it clearly gives UNT a boost in momentum being located in such a prime market, however when you're not as developed as programs such as UT, A&M, or even SMU, it makes it really difficult to attract quality talent in your own state Does that mean UNT can't get a majority of its talent from Texas? NO! However being limited to what you see across the street will hinder UNT's ability to grow and out pace fellow instate rivals. When you recruit in new markets, many athletes first impression of UNT is our amazing football facilities and NOT the mentality that it's "everybody's second choice" I still feel like we could be utilizing the transfer portal much more effectively in this regard. Texas State is a great example of this

I am saying that being stupid and expecting you can be different from every program in America and ONLY recruit in your home market is idiotic and will lead to failure every single time. The expectation that UNT can keep top local players home instead of P5 schools, your brain is stuck in 1980. Recruit out of state, start investing in Florida, the midwest, and Los Angeles area.

Calling This Before I Can Say "I Told You So"
rojomojo replied to rojomojo's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I grew up a life long fan of Kansas basketball. I went to every home basketball game at Allen Fieldhouse until I was 18... I know a good basketball team when I see one -
If Morris beats Navy will you forgive his past sins?

Can we stop with these threads? I think I saw one of these topics last year for "if Littrell beats Texas Southern" -

I mean... I did say something very similar in regards to Morris the SECOND he was hired and I seem to be correct about that move so far -
I do not understand the confidence many of our fans have going into basketball season. What we accomplished last year was phenomenal, but to expect us to be anywhere near that level of success for this season is a far reach at best. I thought the status of our football team would give insight into how the men's basketball would perform this season, but apparently not. I am not saying to give up on reaching for the stars, but don't get your hopes up too much - We've been decimated by graduates and transfer portal action - Haven't replaced any losses with players that are at least on par with the players we had last season - While I respect Hodge, he's a new head coach and those can always be unpredictable heading into a new conference - You're not battling JUST UAB or FAU for conference titles anymore... You are also playing far more established programs such as Wichita State and Memphis - UNT struggled last season with consistency and with an injury prone Rubin Jones, and an untrusted shooter with Matthew Stone, it's hard to see how this squad fares against improved competition Talk all the trash you want, but I will be coming back to this post in early December given the evidence for or against this post Final prediction: UNT finishes in 5th place with about 4 games above .500

Makes TOTAL sense now

While only being a margin under 1k, the ACU game managed to draw more fans than the Cal game (according to ESPN.) While it's great to see attendance didn't suffer after the Cal disaster, does this bring more concern than optimism? I mean who could've guessed before the season that our FCS matchup would gain more fans than against a power 5 squad?

North Texas vs Navy (10/06/2023) Score Predictions
rojomojo replied to Big Z's topic in Mean Green Football
UNT will struggle to contain the triple threat offense. I think our offense will make it interesting for a half, but overall our defense won't be able to give our offense any breathing room 48-31 Navy wins -
