Breaking: North Texas has Landed 5 Commits today.
GoGreenBeans replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
I’m not well versed in UNT commits of the past, but I’d have to assume he’d be the highest rated commit in a long time, right? Just hypothetically asking of course -
Breaking: North Texas lands 2 HUGE Commitments on D
GoGreenBeans replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
We lost a few WRs and have brought in so much more with the portal/commits. I think outside guys saw how electric this offense was and they want in -

JJ Jean-Louis is an all-time name right there. No need to watch his tape, I’m sold -
North Texas RB Oscar Adaway to transfer to South Carolina
GoGreenBeans replied to TripleGrad's topic in Mean Green Football
Good for him. I’ll always hope for Oscar to succeed! Gonna be tough if Raheim Sanders joins him there (seen as a top 3 RB heading into this season) but I hope he thrives no matter what -
Cal lands North Texas QB transfer Chandler Rogers
GoGreenBeans replied to cousin oliver's topic in Mean Green Football
I knew Rogers was skinny, but 6-foot 195 is INSANE. If he goes to the NFL, you’d have to imagine teams want him to switch to WR -
Does Rodgers have any legitimate offers?
GoGreenBeans replied to Jonnyeagle's topic in Mean Green Football
On the topic of Rogers and his commitment to Cal…it seems that maybe Ja’Mori Maclin is interested in following him out west -
I love UNT, but it’s quite confusing on why people expect this team to just magically become a powerhouse seemingly overnight. Why is there some expectation for Morris to have this team as a NY6 squad when he just got here? Us fans need to have patience. I’m not trying to beat down the university…but what makes people believe we’re the premier landing spot now after years of middling? This whole thing can’t/wont be built over night

Not sure if I’m going to say it’s just a UNT thing. To me, I think it’s an issue for all schools that are like UNT, where players will come to us from smaller schools, but we’re just a place for them to get a step up. Seems to be the new thing all across college football, not just happening in Denton

Miami and Nebraska are landing bigger fish apparently. Have seen reports that those schools are projected some big name QBs. Miami connected to Cam Ward. Nebraska connected to Kyle McCord and even 2024 5 Star QB Dylan Raiola. With so many names in the portal, and big named recruits too, maybe Rogers had to act quick on an opening.

Obviously going to be 5 Star D-Lineman Walter Nolen from A&M🙏

Rodgers was great, but it seems clear that UNT was always going to be his stepping stool. Hasn’t posted any thank you to UNT, just his transfer announcement and his highlights. Maybe I’m just reading into it too much, but doesn’t seem like he bought in to UNT

What should our priority be: QB or Defense?
GoGreenBeans replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
Obviously both, but defense needs to be higher on the list. It’s been our biggest issue for years now. We produced a good offense with Aune at QB (different regime but still, it’s possible!) -
The number of portal entries isn’t great, but if UNT were to begin to lose a high number of commits, is that when alarms get sounded? I get that we’ll lose a few commits here and there, that’s just the natural cycle, but if it’s an elevated number, do we have to wonder if there’s a genuine issue at UNT?

Final college year. NFL prospects aren’t incredibly high (this isn’t hating on him). Going back home seems more than reasonable for him and I hope he thrives if Ark State is his landing spot!

8 games in: what do we now know of the Hodge era?
GoGreenBeans replied to greenminer's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I'm still very confident in Hodge. We knew there would be growing pains with such a young HC taking over. This year won't be perfect. Just need to see growth from Hodge and the team when it comes to the final stretch of games. Having Perry and Hamlet spoiled us for sure, but we need our team to close now, we can't rely on a single player anymore to take over -
We'll never be able to compete with a program like Colorado with the portal, but you do have to get concerned if we can't compete with Texas State. We have to wait and see, but if we fail in the portal, it's time for some alarms.
-
Obviously I’m overreacting, but losing our promising freshman to the portal after also losing like 90% of the starting offense would be…not ideal to say the least. Straw that breaks the camels back type move
-
Somebody lock Landon Sides in his room until the season starts. If we lose him, we’d be better off just shutting down the program
-
Players are leaving all mid-major programs at unreal numbers, it's not just a Morris thing. On a Morris "glass half full" take, you could say that his offense catapulted Rodgers, Maclin, Adeyi into being considered for higher programs. It's just the state of college football now
-
Seth came in the year after UNT was steamrolled by Portland State and made this a serviceable program. You don't have to love him, but Seth was great for UNT. It was time to move on from him but he got the job done

The gap in CFB is reaching Grand Canyon levels. Sad to say that outside of a handful of programs, a lot of schools are merely stepping stones now
