He likely does have a few names already picked and ready and allowing them to finish out at other schools. But while at the same time allowing these current coaches will get an interview, along with you don’t want to be announcing new coaches undermining the current staff either

This thread is nothing but old guys yelling at clouds… the player sat out, who knows really knows if this was planned and communicated to the team before or not… the kid did way more for UAB than he got back, and taking him on a flight to the Bahamas, and that is not costing the team anything since the bowls put up the costs of the rooms etc… the dude laid it out on the field this past year and ran the ball and took a damn pounding. Allow the guy to enjoy the Bahamas… plenty of other people on this board have done things to take advantage of situations on the way out, so stop being upset over soemthing that does not affect anyone remotely close to this board edit—just to add on as well.. no college football team is required to keep these guy each year, these guys compete each year for a 1 year renewal of their scholarship… the university can drop them at any time.. the idea the guy getting his body beaten up and taking a pounding, while a bunch of forum posters complain about a college kids free Bahamas trip, what a joke

Give him some time, he is doing a full on blitz I would think in terms of solo recruiting a few guys and doing interviews with current staff… I would expect a full on press for staff etc once we get past signing day and the window freezes. also, he has talked about adding HS coaches and I would assume he is looking at ones in the state championship first

Just to expand on this… we are a 40K+ campus I believe now… 50/50 live on campus or in Denton the other half commute into Denton.. the idea we should be able to pull 20-30k is laughable. If we have 20k on campus, you have to also figure they are working on weekends, etc… maybe knock it down 50% of the 20k on campus… of that 10k, you have to find ways to bring them in. Sorry but sitting out in the 100+ summer heat, sun in your eyes etc… we can say oh SEC/UT etc kids do it but those are schools giving students reasons to go, social events and mom/dad paying for school. if you want to embrace and drive students to going find things to get them into the stadium, food, entertainment, etc… hell do a random Dorm/Greek themed games or something

Games were marketed and emails sent about tickets… they could do better with Denton businesses yes but students for the most part get posters for game dates etc once they move into apartments off campus or atleast I did

I would prefer an experienced OC that called played but if getting E Jones with the title OC, helps this university on the recruiting trail then do it and figure it out down the road You have no idea what Morris contract is lol for you to assume Saban 2.0 would have signed for less 😂 let alone if Saban 2.0 ever got a look… we can say SABAN 2.0 would have taken less but that’s because he never got a serious look it looks like right now

Do you have any info of potential staff with Morris like it had been rumored with JF?

I would want a proven play caller at OC to allow Morris to focus on HC roles, but with that being said… I would be fine with Morris calling plays if it allowed for someone like E Jones to come from TT to UNT, because his recruiting connections are that good.

Honestly, I have no idea Carthel leaning in terms of Offensive/defensive HC but I would be fine with something like this. Carthel with his connections and track record at HC would be a solid help to Morris, and Carthel is also someone who if Morris has success and is gone in 2-3 years that could step in and continue what the program is potentially doing

While the SL 2.0 isn’t a sexy label, it’s a honestly something we should be happy with. SL took us from garage pile to into an interesting G5 job… if Morris can develop this roster (mostly at QB since that can cover up a lot of other issues) and get us to bowls consistently.. it will be a home run hire. Where is this idea coming from that players did not want to play for Morris and left because of him?

No doubt someone like Morris, would call the plays I assume… but I was asking if Jones has had call them players before, because if he has not that would likely force someone like Morris to do it, or hire another offensive coach to do it.

It absolutely has to increase not just because of the program stalling out, but because of jump in the conference we are moving too. i hope JM/NS do not nickel and dime this, give Morris the $ he needs to go build a staff of proven recruiting coaches and guys with track records. Bring in a proven play caller and someone you can develop as well.

Has it ever been answered if Jones ever has been a play caller? If jones hasn’t, I assume Morris has and that would be a plus in terms of getting someone like Jones to come here

The question about how would it be an upgrade… the 3 coaches names are the 3 spots on offense that produced solid to productive players for this position groups. We need to see improvements at QB and WR and just overall play calling. i feel like depending on the staff, Morris is likely the one to call plays, which I think will ne an improvement over our past.

I think it would be wise to keep the 3 you named for what they did with the OL, RB, TEs… also it would hopefully keep guys those position groups from losing guys to the portal potentially.

Fuente likely has a higher floor, and track record.. Morris has extensive ties to Texas and track record of offensive success that people wanted in Riley… it’s not an apples to apples but Morris I think has an on par, if not better resume than Riley

Why would they want to leave? We had a top 20 offense by the numbers and Morris had a Top 10… Morris developed on of the top QBs in the nation in Ward, and had a top10 offense.. he has connections to Texas from his history, stop being so dramatic

I would assume he will bring in known OC/DC and he is an known UIW coach as well.. he has a history in the state, let’s hope Mosley and Neal give him a big budget to go get an solid staff around him.
