QB Cam Ward speaks on Morris to UNT
ExADofficeIntern replied to Jonnyeagle's topic in Mean Green Football
Oregon has TE who is like year 9 of college football.. waivers can be had if you know the system -
^ive said this time and time again and 1000% agree… when the student base is 50/50 on campus or commutes you can not view it as a student base for 44k… only 22k (and that’s probably an over estimate) live on campus or in Denton. Then this is a liberal arts college, what do we expect. If we do 50% of the 22k, saying it’s a 50/50 split of the on campus students that like/love football, that’s only 11k (that number is likely way above actual %). If we want to start filling apogee, put a descent team out in the field.. we saw this the year we beat Arkansas. After we did we had homecoming, and blew it to LAT , the stadium was nearly packed. we are a few pieces away.. Morris seems to have a bettter grip of the HC spot to SL (not his fault for being a new/1st HC). Morris it seems can develop/Find QBs. Let’s hope he can keep said QB from NIL deals, and a few WRs that can catch the ball. ^agreed along with that facts that game times, locations, weather, also play an impact…

Breaking: North Texas to Hire Jon Cooper as OL Coach

That has to be the account is used by a family member or agent of the coach… that was said on this board when we Fuentes was thought to be the top target -

I feel like once they release/announce something in terms of AC expansion they will get a few more donation to come in… I know I’m waiting, after working in a damn closest with 3-4 other people it’s vastly needing to be expanded. Do OU coaches want to come here after how a few of them were upset with SL getting let go? -
I’m going to ask a very basic and dumb question here, but I feel it hasn’t fully been stated… Yes, Coach O (the UNT Coach O) has ties to DFW and the state, he has helped many kids/families get kids off to college for sports but with that being said… Family/personal connections can get you so far on the recruiting trail, what else can he bring that will help us close on these potential hotbed or recruits? yes it’s great to connect with ABC recruit, but will that personal connection help us best out a UH? SMU? MEM? Or random service academy, who have had successful seasons being ranked, beating ranked teams, bowl games, and NFL Success?

Breaking: North Texas Hires Gary as DL Coach
ExADofficeIntern replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
I assume these are guys that Caponi is picking to be on the staff, and it’s not Morris going out bringing in guys and saying Caponi make it work without any say? I figure I know the answer to this, but I haven’t seen it… if Gray were to be hired away by a P5, would UNT get any type of buy out? I figure it’s unlikely but I’m hoping with a young staff, these guys move on quickly because that means we are having success -
SL lifted this program from the flaming dumpster fire that it was after the Portland State season into a job that other national media views as one of the top G5 jobs.. yes his coaching performance leveled off, because of his own doings, but the school also did not help at times either. We see EM taking less salary to add to assistant pool, was SL ever offered this (who knows)… is the funding for football increasing because of the move up into the American (mostly likely)… SL has left EM a much better program amenities, roster, and just overall view from fans… when SL was hired we all would have taken him producing maybe the 2 best QBs in program history, 6 bowls, 2 championship appearances, and a move up to the American (even if it was blind lucky). We can all agree that SL shot himself in the foot with some of his hires, but the program is vastly better condition today than it was when he got hired.. EM has likely gotten a boost as well moving into the American that SL didn’t fully get, but I will say this again… we all day 1 would have taken what SL did in a heartbeat

I will say this… if they did do a 40-50$ plate dinner just for a Saturday night of Morris doing a general QA with the podcast, that would be ideal… the AD office if smart could even have select “limited apparel” on show and I bring this up since multiple people have posted about wanting jackets, shirts etc.. have some rep there take down orders and sizes (if the stuff isn’t in a spare room in the belly of apogee which I know it is) and I’m sure you could make about a gameday worth of sales. make some money and it’s better deal for school than the garage sale they do at the spring games in the past -
I would like to just say something that has not been said… SL did the best with what he had, WB and NS put money into the program that was vastly needed compared to what the program was doing under TD and DM… JM/NS have put more into it now ever before. SL set the foundation that Morris is building upon now. We need to remember this, that it was a SL turning the program from the Portland State blow out into program that solid foundation, that is going into the American

I would like to get in on this as well… just to add another idea to this as well… have the event/events held at DFW area mean green alumni businesses. I would also like to think at said events you could see us (if that’s a fair term to use) do some donations that could be used donated for specific projects/programs -

I wish that they did this and I think you would have more donors if little things like this were done. I also think you could attract donors (even people who may $40-50) for a Saturday night dinner up at Apogee just to hear Morris, his staff talk scheme, recruiting, etc… I have long thought AD office should embrace this and even do offer to let the GMG pod come up and do shows live (if they were up for it). -

If this is the case, that’s truly sad… and a bad look for the program(AD office and booster side). there are plenty of ways to rise extra money to go get a coach that is very much needed. -
Breaking: Iowa States Matt Caponi New Mean Green DC
ExADofficeIntern replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
While I agree i would prefer a seasoned play caller, let’s allow him to add his staff.. I’m sure a few of them will ex coords or vet coaches.. also, I like to think with him being the DB coach in the Big12 he has held some say in gameplaying -
I have no idea from WSU/UIW… never watched any of them but it seems and kind of sounds like the TE spot will be looking for guys similar to Kyle Pitts types playing style, which I honestly hope is true.. I know that is a freak of nature but I think you can find guys who get overlooked in TX to potentially grow into that type of role

If I’m changing up defenses, I hope our new DC is considering bringing these guys in… just having an idea of the defense he will likely run will greatly help.. even if they are rotating pieces, having knowledge of system and term knowledge will greatly help guys new to scheme -

ExADofficeIntern replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
i think this could be an ideal and great set up for our defense… believe there is more talent to pull from for LB/Safety in the state of TX I agree, and I will point out playing in the Big12 you will have a week or two that need to be overlooked and doing it vs a CFP team that’s in top 4 in country is a good team to do it against. Also does not hurt that TCU had a Heisman Candidate at QB and a WR who could be a 1st Rd pick, and was lead by an OC we considered for our HC gig Safety is a TX kid as well… 6-0 200lb safety… have not looked at the tape but I would have interest potential.
