    I should have chosen my words better. EVER is a long time. But if you've got to pull out examples from Dodge, McCarney and 2013, I think my statement still holds.

    I’m not sure the Chief of Staff has much to do with recruiting other than setting up things. Identifying talent falls at the feet of the coaches.

    I think this is the concern that @greenminer has. Turning those Tier 2 and 3 kids into UNT offers. What we want to happen, and I fully believe it will, is the D1 kid that has 5-6 D1 offers, chooses UNT. I believe O brings that skillset to the table and I'm excited to watch him and the staff turn it into reality.

    Noticed that Davis is going to carry the OC title along with coaching the WRs. We new the OC would likely be in title only and not a true OC. Guess this helps free up $$ to build the best staff possible.

    I would think his role will be more of fostering relationships and communication. Offers are still going to be driven by the coaching staff. His value will be as a very trusted source in the community. If UNT wants X player and he's sitting in front of the parents, they'll value the offer a little more.

    I think part of the challenge comes in how easy it is to say one versus the other, as silly as that sounds. All of the examples you listed as initials are very long names to pronounce, while their initials are very quick. North Texas vs UNT is nearly a wash and North Texas doesn’t have to be followed by an explanation.

    My crystal ball says the OC is going to be Emmett Jones. - it’s a step up from current position. - currently involved in a bowl game - TXHSFB

    I'm not a fan of 'let me tell you how good I am' type messages.

    It's natural to have those thoughts run through your head. After that grieving or 'what if' period is over, then you appreciate that a university that you loved, is taking the next step toward greatness. And he should, in part, know that he help get us here. Not because of his failures, but because of his successes.

    I realize we’re only seeing a bullet point recap of the contract details and not the actual contract, but I did notice there was no ‘buy-out escalator’ clause mentioned like what SL had. Believe the previous had a clause that if hit 7 wins, buyout went to 100%. That’s part of what put us in a pickle, IMHO.

    Starting to wonder if all these hires aren’t/haven’t been queued up all this time and announcing them daily to sustain interest and/or keep UNT in the news.

    We’re all clearly flipping out and doing fist pumps in the air. What do you think the other coaches on the staff are doing? They have to be even more excited and can’t wait to get to work.
