  1. UC San Diego coach Eric Olen could be coaching in San Diego next season, but it might be a league game at Viejas Arena against San Diego State. The architect of UCSD’s 30-5 record and NCAA Tournament berth in the program’s first season of Division I eligibility is a finalist for the vacancy at New Mexico, according to multiple sources close to the hiring process. The other known finalist is Andy Kennedy from Alabama-Birmingham. New Mexico went 27-8, claimed the Mountain West regular-season title and won a game in the NCAA Tournament before exiting against Michigan State last Sunday. Three days later, coach Richard Pitino was hired by Xavier of the Big East. The front-runner for the job was initially considered former USD player and assistant coach James Borrego, who has spent most of his career in the NBA and is currently an associate head coach with the New Orleans Pelicans. But the Albuquerque Journal reported Friday that the Albuquerque native withdrew from consideration, and sources said the search narrowed to Olen and Kennedy. UCSD gave Olen a new contract last summer that raised his 2024-25 salary from $270,000 to $345,000 plus an $85,000 “talent fee” (taking it to $430,000). Performance bonuses for Big West coach of the year and the NCAA Tournament appearance elevate it to $485,000. In addition, he is in line for a separate $65,000 “retention” bonus if he’s still at UCSD on June 30. What also makes Olen attractive, especially in an era where schools are trying to save every dollar for NIL payments to players, is that his buyout lowered from $712,000 to a mere $150,000 in his new contract. Kennedy’s would be substantially higher. link: https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/2025/03/29/ucsd-basketball-coach-eric-olen-is-finalist-for-opening-at-mountain-west-program/
  2. I like the idea of Rodney Terry. And you would not have to pay him too much because he has a huge buyout from UT. Dude can recruit.
  3. Head roll? haha you are funny. If you haven't figured it out by now, places like UNT are pass thru institutions. Jared, Prez Keller the players are all just passing thru until they can get a better gig and more money. There is no loyalty. But they will be quick to kick the fans in the nuts and blame us for all that ails them. Follow the money!
  4. I have watched the film and Irvine's big man will give Sissoku and us major trouble.
  5. Yeah right, cry me a damn river. "Let's do it for the Kids!" Yeah the kids that will bail on us in a second for a couple grand more in NIL monies? Where are "The kids" from last years squad. Oh yea I forget they bailed on us for more money... It's just another example of UNT greasing the wheel versus representing the alumni and universities best interests. Jared wants Ross to put in a good word for him up at WVA after Wren gets a bigger job is all it is.
  6. Most of them are graduating. The only big ones we lose to portal NIL are Jasper and Belo
  7. Is our having to wait for the Bradley game to be over?

  9. Seems like that would have been a reasonable accommodation from OState am I wrong?
  10. Big money donors - yes even at SMU - are getting fatigue from all of this spending of their hard earned money and no ROI. Especially tough sell at a G5 who already has the deck stacked against them.
  11. How do we match up with Texas Arlington? Anyone know if they are any good?
  12. I put a call into the AD to get an explanation and they tole me it was a mistake from some guy named Randy and they apologized. Not to nitpick cause I know people make mistakes but damn they act like they forgot to take the trash out. This shit is important. How we present our fans to the world is important to our image.
  13. NORTH TEXAS ATHLETICS COMMUNICATIONS – March 21, 2025 Forde Reaches World Finals in 60 Meters NANJING, China — UNT sprinter Julian Forde placed seventh against a world-class field in the finals of the 60-meter dash on the first day of the World Indoor Track & Field Championships in Nanjing, China. Representing his home country of Barbados, Forde clocked a 6.57 in the preliminary round, recording a career best time in the event. After a 6.59 got him through the semifinals, he wrapped up his competition placing seventh against some of the fastest sprinters in the world with a time of 6.64. A junior at North Texas, Forde is coming off an indoor season that saw him earn all-conference honors as the American Athletic Conference runner-up in the 60 meters.
