  1. Sorry to hear this. Are we still looking at adding baseball? Seems like we lose good kids to the fact we don’t offer baseball as an option.
  2. I mean like wow, we must have the highest exit rate of any program pertaining to NIL. I think UNT needs to focus on one and done guys that will graduate or whatever until these type of NIL and portal rules get addressed by our politicians.
  3. It is disheartening to see some of our very best such as @UNTLifer begin to question their commitment.
  4. Yes. He obviously wasn't happy here or he would have stayed most likely.
  5. Wow he would be great!
  6. Someone just posted Arkansas has zero scholarship players. Sort of puts things in perspective doesn’t it.
  7. I agree with @UNTLifer none of any of this is official in my estimation
  8. East Carolina leads the league in NIL donations? I am sorry but that seems like stinky dung to me.
  9. NIL deals seem to be changing everything in college athletics, from the talent level on the court to how long athletes stay at certain universities. They appear to revolutionize the way college sports are played. Between NIL and new transfer portal rules, student-athletes aren’t staying at one college for four years. Transferring has become so normal that schools like UTA have started refocusing their pitches to student-athletes currently in college rather than incoming freshmen. The decision was met with mixed reactions, and I initially supported it. Athletes were making their universities millions of dollars, and it felt right that they could now earn a piece of that pie, especially as many struggled with food insecurity and the ability to afford rent because they didn’t have enough time to pursue a job. UTA NIL director Holland Sutton said these deals help student-athletes pay rent, support their families back home or fund trips home to see their families. The money is often used for groceries or extra clothes. “I wouldn't say any kids are getting rich, but getting some of that extra money to be able to spend on things you need is really essential, and that's the good part about NIL,” Sutton said. 10. I fell very sad about how this all unfolded. Ross must be beside himself. His whole team is leaving him.
  11. I really don't know what to think about all this. Seems like our foundation is showing some hairline cracks.
  12. One positive here is we probably could enlist Rondel's help in landing him given they were teammates at TCU. I love also that he is from Duncanville.
  13. Good player and contributed a lot to this team. I wish him well!
  14. I feel like you underestimate the damage losing a star player does to a fanbase like ours. And Tyler wanted to be at UNT his whole life!
  15. Seems like we are leaving sort of a golden era of UNT basketball into the unknown. McCasland and many of his great players like Tylor, Javion, Mo, Geu, Kai, Drez, Bell, Reese, Ryan, Rosy, Mike, DJ and Jorden are gone now. We have no guarantee that this roster will stay as is. And half of the squad was basically sitting the bench and they deserve a shot to go play somewhere else if they cannot get minutes here. Ross is a good coach but can he recruit to the level that McCasland did? Will we stay primarily a defensive team or will we look to move more uptempo?
  16. I respectfully must challenge your statement. The announcers clearly had personal relationships with the LSU staff and they stated several times during the broadcast that the squad wanted to be there.
  17. Yes me too. And what is funny is we have a very good film department that should be able to do better.
  18. Sad for Perry, he could have done better with us had he stayed here. Tough loss for his team tonight against Iowa.
  19. Roadrunner Family: I am excited to share with you that we have named Austin Claunch the seventh head coach in UTSA men’s basketball history. Austin, currently an assistant coach at Alabama, had great success in five years as the head coach at Nicholls, including 90 wins and a pair of Southland Conference Championships. Austin’s hometown is Houston and we are so excited to welcome him back home to the Lone Star State. Austin has high energy, a relentless work ethic and a strong basketball IQ. But what really stood out to me is that, when we talked to people about Austin, what kept coming up time and again was his unique ability to connect with people from all backgrounds and build great relationships. Austin is completely aligned with my vision and our values as a department and as an institution. He will be a terrific leader of our student-athletes. I am confident that Austin will elevate our program to new heights. Austin will continue to coach the Crimson Tide through their NCAA Tournament run and will join us in San Antonio once Alabama’s season has concluded. We will formally welcome Austin at a public event at that time where you will have an opportunity to meet him. Please join me in welcoming Austin as the head coach of the UTSA men’s basketball program. Birds Up! Lisa Campos, Ed.D. UTSA Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics
  20. Why would we not want a full stadium? I do agree that they could beat us like Cal did which would not be helpful.
