The crazy thing is that it happens other places as well. Good players only have one shot to do their business and the NIL opportunity is always going to be there. Bigger schools have the issue of losing players to the NBA. I have seen that occur at places like Texas quite often with players like Mo Bamba only being there one year.

There is no friendly way to say this, so let’s just rip off the band-aid: UNT isn’t exactly the national standard when it comes to athletics. The Mean Green are nothing to scoff at, mind you. You’re doing something right any time your athletic director can stroll into a room and deliver an elevator pitch including 16 Division I teams, 130 conference championships, and arguably the baddest defensive lineman to ever play football. Nevertheless, despite being founded 110 years ago, UNT has all of four national titles to its name. Those championships come in one sport, too: men’s golf, during a colossal four-peat from 1949 through 1952. Several friends have shared the opinion that it was somewhat disrespectful for Mac to be wearing red and black and posting Texas Tech rah rah videos so quickly after winning the NIT. I have mixed emotions but feel like he could have waited through the weekend or maybe given us another week out of respect for the NIT and UNT friends and fans.

I would be more interested if they did win but would consider if they lost as well. I just have a big day at work tomorrow.
