I concur. The crowd was fantastic last night!

I don't get the criticism of Stone from some. Not you specifically but perhaps others. He seems to give full effort and intensity when he is in the game. Is that not all we should expect?

I really hope that Rueben can play. We really need his assists.

LISTEN WATCH TULSA, Oklahoma – The UNT men’s basketball team is at Tulsa Wednesday for a midweek league game showdown. The Mean Green (12-9, 5-4) and Golden Hurricane (12-9, 3-6) are scheduled to tip-off Wednesday at 7 p.m. CT from the Donald W. Reynolds Center. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and the Mean Green Sports Network, presented by Learfield. Wednesday will be the 53rd all-time meeting between the two schools but the first since 2014 when they both were in Conference USA. UNT is aiming for its first win at Tulsa since 2006. The American Athletic Conference has been filled with close games this season. Nearly 40 percent of all American league games this year have been decided by four points or fewer and/or have gone into overtime. Only the MEAC has had a higher percentage of games decided by four or less. Five of North Texas’ last six games have been decided by two possessions or less. After Wednesday’s contest, UNT travels to Dallas on Sunday to face SMU. The Mean Green beat the Mustangs 68-66 on Jan. 25 at the Super Pit. Sunday’s game is scheduled to tip-off at 1 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on ESPNU and the Mean Green Sports Network, presented by Learfield. For more information on UNT men's basketball tickets, contact the Mean Green Ticket Office at 940-565-2527 or at ticketoffice@unt.edu. Fans can visit the UNT Athletics Ticket Office located at Gate 2 of DATCU Stadium between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The UNT women’s basketball team (17-4, 7-2 AAC) saw its seven-game winning streak snapped in a 75-67 overtime loss on the road to UTSA Wednesday night. The Mean Green struggled from the field for the majority of the night shooting a season-low 29% from the field for the game. Even with the offensive struggles, UNT found itself within striking distance late in the fourth quarter. After trailing by seven at the half, UNT found itself within two after back-to-back 3-point plays from Dyani Robinson and Tommisha Lampkin. At the 7:08 mark in the fourth quarter, Aniyah Johnson converted one-of-two free throws to give North Texas its first lead since the 3:51 mark of the second quarter. The Roadrunners would tie it up, but a Mean Green stop with 22 seconds left gave them a chance to win the game in regulation. Dyani Robinson drove to the rim, but a contested layup rimmed out. Tommisha Lampkin got a second look before the buzzer after an offensive rebound but couldn’t convert. From there, UTSA outscored North Texas 19-11 in the overtime period, handing UNT its first loss since December 30. Idara Udo posted a double double for UTSA with 14 points and 12 rebounds. The conference leaders in blocked shots, the Roadrunners had six blocks to UNT’s three, and held Tommisha Lampkin and DesiRay Kernal to a combined 3-of-23 on the night. UNT had four scorers reach double figures, led by Dyani Robinson with 18 points. In addition, Jaaucklyn Moore had 12, while Ereauna Hardaway and Shamaryah Duncan each had 10. The Mean Green will look to get back into the win column on Sunday when they travel to face Tulsa at 2 p.m. CT. Quoting Head Coach Jason Burton Thoughts on the game: “We didn’t come out ready to play. We talked about starting games the right way and we knew they were going to be physical. I think I said in the pregame talk that they’re going to be so physical that a lot of things are going to happen within plays and aren’t going to get called. They were willing to take some fouls to set the tone. They punched us in the mouth in the first half, got into our heads and we didn’t play how we can play.”

DENTON – The UNT men’s basketball team lost 82-79 in overtime to UAB Wednesday night at the Super Pit. The Mean Green (12-8, 5-3) led by as many as 17 late in the first half but were outscored by the Blazers (14-7, 6-2) 46-37 in the second half to send the game to the overtime period. “Give credit to coach Kennedy and UAB,” said head coach Ross Hodge. “Ultimately our inability to get stops without fouling in the second half was the difference in this game.” UAB attempted zero first half free throws but shot 24 free throws in the second half and overtime periods combined. The Mean Green shot 25 free throws for the game. UNT was led by sophomore Jason Edwards who scored a game-high 31 points. It’s the second game this year he’s scored over 30 points. He’s the first Mean Green player since Roosevelt Smart in 2017-18 to have multiple 30-point games. Aaron Scott added 20 points and CJ Noland poured in 17 points. It’s the most points Scott and Noland have scored in a conference game this season. Wednesday’s home loss ends a 17-game home winning streak by the Mean Green. They’ll look to start a new home winning streak on Saturday as they host South Florida at 5 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and the Mean Green Sports Network, presented by Learfied.

Yes Rueben being back will help but I also think losing CJ and Robert Allen will offset that a bit as well. Also Buggs didn't seem to be healthy last night either.

Dr. Phil giving a Go Mean Green shoutout

Love to see the support from Dr. Phil. -
Yup I can attest to this as well. My girlfriend's best friend wanted to come into town for the Cal game as he graduated from there. We were looking at $300 plus for average Holiday Inn type motels and the fancy places like the Embassy Suites were all book up.

I think this is a valid point.

Agree 100%. This basketball program has aroused some sports feelings I never thought I had. I look so forward to every game and the enthusiasm in the Pit has become addictive. I think we need to do everything we can to keep this nucleus together for as long as we can.

If you want to go a step further, UNT Dallas is way more Dallas than SMU. It actually sits in Dallas and benefits students who are in need, not some rich spoiled brats driving 150K cars at 18.
-
I don't think SMU is as good as we thought according to this and their fans that post here.

They also had some love for John Buggs Re: GAME THREAD: men's basketball at UNT http://www.ponyfans.com/phpBB3/styles/we_clearblue/imageset/icon_post_target.gifby EastStang » Fri Jan 26, 2024 8:53 am Take away that Williamson foul and we win the game. Their guy made 2 of 3 free throws. Where did that 3 point shooter come from late? Suddenly, he was draining threes. They play good defense as well. It was a great game to watch. Both of these teams will continue to be relevant in the AAC this season. UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

Re: GAME THREAD: men's basketball at UNT http://www.ponyfans.com/phpBB3/styles/we_clearblue/imageset/icon_post_target.gifby shadowman » Fri Jan 26, 2024 9:40 am Was at the game last night. Disappointing that there were not more Mustang fans. UNT's crowd and students really showed up. They had over 2,000 students at the game and they were loud and engaged all night. The Super Pit is a really nice arena, I was impressed and it got really loud when they were all cheering at once. As far as the game goes, that was a classic battle, very fun to watch. UNT is a very good team. Without looking at the stats, the one thing that stood out to me is that we did not get as many steals as we normally do. We had some high quality traps but they mostly handled it well and got several easy baskets/wide open 3s by getting it to the open man out of the double team. It really came down to UNT shooting lights out from the 3 point line down the stretch and we could not quite overcome it. In spite of all of that, we had a wide open three at the buzzer to win, it just didn't fall. SMU handled the high pressure atmosphere well. I was also at the Memphis game and this crowd was more hostile and more loud than Memphis, but the Ponies handled it well. Definitely the most hostile environment we have had all year. Was a great game and Phelps was so great last night. I definitely think we will build off this and can hopefully go another run and put a bunch of Ws together. In parting, I will say that the UNT fans were very pleasant. Despite being one of the few families there in full SMU gear, nobody was mean. A couple of frat boys did yell some insults at us in the parking lot after the game, but nothing over the line, and they were just having fun in victory. Was a great experience and a great game to see in person, except for the outcome. /cheers Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!

Odd why someone down voting me on this statement? -
I just don't get why you want to demean the attendance the day after such a great effort? I get that there were other well attended games but maybe we should give it a couple of days.
