Rogers is clearly a better runner but other than that one attribute I say Morris is much better!
-
Yes that is why I pull for them when they are playing anyone else!!

They have always had plenty of money they just never want to spend it. SMU and TCU always did.

Morris Named AAC Offensive Player of the Week
meangreenfaninno posted a topic in Mean Green Football
DENTON - While making his debut for the Mean Green on Saturday in Mobile, Alabama, junior quarterback Chandler Morris ripped apart the South Alabama pass defense en route to a 52-38 road win to open the season and earn American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors. Morris helped account for UNT's first five touchdowns while completing 32 of 41 passes for 415 yards and three touchdowns. He also added a pair of rushing touchdowns to his ledger. His 32 completions and 415 yards were the most by any player in the conference in Week 1. The effort was the second 400-yard passing game of Morris' career (his first at UNT) and he became the 10th player in program history to pass for 400 yards or more in a game. Joining Morris on the weekly honors list was his top target on Saturday, senior wide receiver Damon Ward Jr., who set career highs with 12 catches for 230 yards. He also found the end zone twice, including a 54-yard catch-and-run touchdown late in the third quarter that gave UNT a cushion after South Alabama had closed the game to a two-point UNT lead. His 230 yards was one yard shy of tying the school record for most receiving yards in a season-opener. -- GMG -- https://meangreensports.com/news/2024/9/2/football-morris-named-aac-offensive-player-of-the-week -

Women’s Basketball Announces Nonconference Slate UNT will play 12 games, including seven at The Super Pit, prior to the start of AAC play DENTON, Texas – UNT women’s basketball head coach Jason Burton finalized the program’s nonconference schedule for the upcoming 2024-25 season that features three games against major conference opponents and seven home contests. “We put together a challenging schedule with key road games at Santa Clara, New Mexico, and Power 4 teams such as Oregon and Houston,” Burton said. “It was also important to us to keep the rivalry game going with SMU who is now a Power 4 opponent as a member of the ACC. This is a challenging nonconference schedule that will prepare us for another good run in the American Athletic Conference.” North Texas will face Midwestern State in a home exhibition game Oct. 30 before beginning the regular season with a pair of home games. The season opener will welcome Alcorn State back to The Super Pit for the second consecutive season on Nov. 4.Later that week, UNT will take on Texas Southern in the first meeting between the programs since 1998. The first road game of the season will be an early test for the Mean Green going to Eugene to square off with Oregon. The Nov. 12 matchup marks the first time playing against the Ducks in program history and will be the first time UNT has played a women’s basketball game in the state of Oregon. The Mean Green will close out the month of November with three games in nine days prior to Thanksgiving Break. UNT will travel to Abilene Christian on Nov. 16 before hosting Northwestern State on Nov. 20 and wrapping up the stretch with a road contest at Houston on Nov. 24. December will commence with a road trip to New Mexico on Dec. 1 followed by home games against Tennessee State and Southern Illinois. The contest with Tennessee State on Dec. 4 will serve as the Denton ISD Kids Game welcoming elementary schools from around the area to The Super Pit. The Mean Green will then hit the road for a matchup with Santa Clara in the first ever meeting against the Broncos who are coming off a 25-win season and trip to the WBIT. The nonconference schedule will conclude with a midseason tournament inside The Super Pit with SMU and Chicago State coming to town. UNT will look to make it three consecutive wins against the Mustangs on Dec. 19 after sweeping the series last season, then take on Chicago State for the first time ever on Dec. 21. The remainder of UNT’s 2024-25 schedule will be revealed by the American Athletic Conference at a later date. North Texas vs South Alabama Prediction Thread
meangreenfaninno replied to jtm0097's topic in Mean Green Football
South Alabama -5.5 (-110) vs. North Texas My number is 7.5 here. Factor in North Texas losing one of the best defensive players in fall camp to a season-ending knee injury, and we have a play on the Jaguars. Sure, South Alabama is breaking in new head coaches, so maybe we see something out of left field because that’s how college football is in 2024 when it comes to offseason turnover. But South Alabama promoted their offensive coordinator, Major Applewhite, and that gives me a little sense of continuity. Worst line to bet: South Alabama -6.5 (-110) -
Real nice preview by Adam ----------------------- Here in the middle west, it is just about start-of-school time. The pools are closing, people are taking their end-of-summer vacations (my grandma was in town!) and like, buying backpacks and whatnot. The various European soccer leagues are beginning match day one. That means that college football is right around the corner. You might have seen that we wrote a season preview of the football squad. LINK: https://herosports.com/fbs-college-football-recruiting-rankings-g5-cpcp/ Our recruiting among the G5 should be in at least the top 5-10 with the combination of facilities and budget. This was supposed to be a strength under Morris and he just has not lived up to the billing it seems. Hope he can turn it around. The time has finally come for North Texas soccer fans as the Mean Green are set to take the field in a two-game homestand against SEC opponents the University of Oklahoma and No. 20 team in the country, University of Alabama. North Texas’ opening week comes five days after their two away exhibition games. The first match ended in a 2-2 draw against Colorado State while the second ended in a 4-3 loss against Colorado. Especially after their Colorado matchup, head coach John Hedlund said the team feels prepared and excited for their upcoming opponents. "Overall, I like the way we played," Hedlund said. "We did not have much rest in between games and they rested all Thursday. I didn't know how that game would play out especially since [Colorado] is [projected] to be fourth in the Big 12 [...] We just have to clean a few things up defensively that we are working on today [during practice] for OU and Alabama and I think we will be okay." Last season, Oklahoma ended with an 8-10-2 record tied for ninth in the Big 12 with Cincinnati. They began with a rocky non-conference schedule, losing to Samford, Gonzaga and Montana in a week-long stretch. After ending their season in the second round of the Big 12 Championships, Oklahoma secured multiple transfers including three forwards who each have four or more years of collegiate experience. "They brought in some solid players," Hedlund said. "A couple of them were already here [when we played during the spring] [...] We have seen most of their players. There are a few that we have not but I think it is going to be a good game." Senior forward Bailey Wesco, who transferred from Oklahoma following the 2022 season, will have a connection to her opponents. Wesco scored six goals in her first season with the Mean Green, starting 13 of 15 games played. "I am excited," Wesco said. "I did not have any bad vibes when I left. My coach, who was there, has left but my friends are still there. I am excited to see them and excited to play." read more: https://www.ntdaily.com/sports/north-texas-soccer-set-for-week-1-match-hosts-ou-and-alabama/article_d0a705f0-59ab-11ef-9fec-bbde8d2bc479.html

Conference ranking: 10th in American Athletic (+2000 to win conference) Teams ahead of them: Nevada (115), East Carolina (114), Western Michigan (113), UMass (112), Rice (111) Teams behind them: Ohio (117), New Mexico (118), Tulsa (119), Buffalo (120), Central Michigan (121) RJ's take: I know Eric Morris can coach because I saw what he did with Incarnate Word in 2021, including introducing the college football world to Cameron Ward, who was one of the five most coveted transfers of the 2024 cycle. His task is to bring UNT back to the back-to-back nine-win heights of the 2010s. With former OU and TCU QB Chandler Morris throwing passes to Blair Conwright and Landon Sides, the return of RB Ikaika Ragsdale — 890 scrimmage yards in 2023 — Morris has enough on offense to compete. Defensively? Totally different story. UNT ranked 131st out of 133 teams in 2023, 110th in 2022. North Texas' Win Total Odds: Over 5.5 (-145) Under 5.5 (+115) LINK: https://www.foxsports.com/stories/college-football/2024-north-texas-football-predictions-ranked-no-116-rj-young

I think Rodge was committed to UT and Mack Brown thinking Vizza was still here and then Vizza transferred out unexpectedly.
