  2. That's exactly what I was thinking.
  3. Yeah to me it's sort of the big UNT lie. They claim we can't afford it but yet schools with much less resources like UTSA and La Tech and others can? To me I have always believed that UNT doesn't want it because it would force them to run a tighter ship in the AD office and maybe not have as big of a bench. Do people realize we have by far the biggest AD budegt in CUSA? Not sure about the AAC but I'd bet we are up there. The sad thing is with our location we would immediately be a top flight competitor in the AAC. And yet we just shut down shop every spring and summer like Wally World. Countless donor opportunities are being passed up and more importanly connections to the students, fans and donors. BRING BACK BASEBALL!!
  4. But the fact is none of the young people that care about being engaged socially want to go there. Take UTA for instance. That school used to have a vibrant campus and greek system etc. It has become a suitcase college with no visible identity. UNT has done a good job of making it more of a college experience and the growth of Denton has been good as well. You really can stay in Denton over the weekends now unlike a few years ago when you had to head to Dallas to have fun.
  5. I think both of the twins would have been on the list as 1st teamers. We've had a high amount of portal defections and it is hard for these publications to monitor the turnover. For instance, Trieb may be a stud but noone knows about him. I also could say the same about Gunnell.
  6. DENTON, Texas – North Texas Athletics will partner with Trey Athletes in its first Athlete Transition Program, a career development opportunity designed specifically for college athletes. "We are excited to partner together with Trey Athletes in this ground-breaking program that we believe will provide immeasurable benefits to our student-athletes," UNT Vice President and Director of Athletics Wren Baker said. "This is truly one-of-a-kind programming that will prepare our young people every step of the way for the next stage after college." Trey will work with UNT to provide graduating student-athletes who belong to a racial or ethnic minority group and/or who are first-generation college students internship experience for Summer 2022. To prepare, student-athletes will attend career development sessions covering topics such as: · Choosing your career · Resume and cover letter writing · Interview preparation · Workplace best practices After these sessions, Trey will then match the participants with area businesses in their preferred field or industry. Throughout the internship, student-athletes will continue to receive support through advising, as well as build peer-to-peer relationships through group sessions that promote engagement and discussion around the shared experience. "Trey Athletes is thrilled to be collaborating with UNT Athletics on our pilot program," Trey co-founders & co-CEOs Rebecca Feickert and Brian Reynolds said. "Together, we're committed to developing the diverse and talented young athletes of today to be tomorrow's changemakers." Trey Athletes is a Dallas-based nonprofit positioned at the intersection of college sports, education, and racial equity. The organization's objective is to unlock the untapped potential of college sports by creating successful post-college outcomes for all college athletes. After incubating at Harvard Business School, and since launching in Dallas in Fall 2018, Trey has worked with nearly 600 athletes, parents, and coaches representing 80+ zip codes across DFW. As proud fellows of both the Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation as well as the United Way's Social Innovation Accelerator, Trey won the 2020 Audience Choice Award for DFW Social Innovator of the Year. In 2021, Trey launched a virtual programming series, including speakers from the Big 12 Conference, Dallas Mavericks, and US Paralympic team. read more: https://meangreensports.com/news/2022/6/2/general-north-texas-announces-partnership-with-trey-athletes.aspx
  7. I thought Roy Orbison would have been a decent choice. 2nd would be robocop.
  8. I don't know much about him but I know I love him. And that may be all there is to know.
  9. I feel sort of guilty for doubting Littrell these past few months. Even my wife said earlier that I seemed much happier and had more of a hop in my step lately. Not to put the cart before the horse but I feel like we have a chance to compete for the league title now if everything falls into place.
  10. Agreed but gosh he’s got so much talent if he could just stay healthy!
  11. That’s why II think he should be an immediate starter!!
  12. Shouldn’t we be adding the new Nebraska transfer WR to the projected starting lineups?
  13. After visiting five colleges in the spring, Denton (Texas) Braswell cornerback prospect Dylan Smith is close to scheduling his summer visits. "I have been talking with Arkansas and Colorado about getting out to both of those schools on an official visit," he said. Smith plans to check out Boulder for the first time in June. Houston, North Texas, Oklahoma State and SMU were the other programs Smith visited this spring. He has received a total of 14 offers throughout his recruitment, with all of the aforementioned schools included in his list of college options. Indiana, Kansas, Louisville, Nebraska, Stanford are some of Smith's other offers. His older brother Cam Smith is currently a redshirt freshman cornerback at Oklahoma State. https://247sports.com/college/colorado/Article/Denton-Texas-Braswell-cornerback-Dylan-Smith-plans-to-visit-Colorado-Buffaloes-Arkansas-Razorbacks-this-summer-187444356/
  14. Good win but should have never been so close.
  15. I agree with you. Also would add that the state used to pay a much larger share of the cost in years past. The politicians in Texas have shaved the budget down to dangerous levels.
  16. Best to Kason. Never really understood why he was not given a chance here.
  17. Mike Brey doesn't want to hear complaining from well-compensated coaches about the NIL landscape, and wants to see everyone "shut up and adjust." Every day there seems to be a new quote from a college football coach about how unhappy they are with the current state of NIL. It took a good 10 months, but after allegations of coaches tampering with players and NIL incentives being offered to get guys to transfer or players saying they need more NIL money after a standout year or they're threatening to transfer, the NCAA shared a few days ago now that they're going to start cracking down on NIL rules. The NIL has been a huge adjustment for coaches, especially those that have been around the game for decades, but like it or not, this is the future of college athletics and there's no putting the toothpaste back in the tube. Notre Dame men's basketball coach Mike Brey is one coach who has gone on the record sick of hearing the bickering from his coaching colleagues in basketball and football. "Coaches have got to stop complaining," Brey shared with ESPN yesterday during the annual ACC spring meetings. read more: https://footballscoop.com/news/mike-brey-on-coaches-complaining-about-nil-shut-up-and-adjust
  18. The NCAA is moving forward with the understanding that any deals struck over the past 10 months that violated its NIL policy may not be pursuable from an enforcement perspective, but is instead focused on preventing recruits and players from choosing schools based solely on who can pay the most. (Which, in that case, good luck.)
  19. It appears that UNT now has their NIL partner selected and in place.
  20. Jim Niesh bio link Appears to have ties to Learfield IMG who I believe UNT has done business with before.
  21. Interesting look at UTSA’s newly formed collective and where the money is flowing: https://runnersrisingproject.org/utsa-nil-tracker/
  22. Why is Wren sticking with this?
