  1. Former Kansas City Chiefs running back Abner Haynes has been honored by the University of North Texas with a new Unity Plaza. When you think of all of the great running backs employed by the Kansas City Chiefs over the years, it’s important to remember that the all owe something to the franchise’s first great back—‚literally the forerunner for them all—in Abner Haynes. Haynes was the first star running back of the franchise, going back to the days in which the team wasn’t the Chiefs and they were not yet located in Kansas City. Even with the Dallas Texans, Haynes was establishing himself as a beast in the backfield after winning the AFL’s first ever Rookie of the Year award in 1960. From there, Haynes would command the attention of defenses with a hearty 4.8 yards/carry average. Nearly 60 years after he was traded away from the Chiefs, he’s still No. 6 all-time on the team’s rushing yards list with 3.814. read more: https://arrowheadaddict.com/2022/06/24/former-chiefs-rb-abner-haynes-honored-university-north-texas/amp/
  2. Yes this is a great idea and I would be willing to chip in as well.
  3. I see your point but Tommy has been injured and not really done much either. He should have received a mention.
  4. NONo no! He has gotten bowls with 5-6 wins. That is not acceptable in year 9!
  5. Interesting to see him donate 1 million dollars to a very worth cause. Make me wonder has Seth ever donated to anything or joined the Mean Green Club and at what level? Excited to announce Dana Holgorsen will contribute $1 million to Houston RISE in support of the Football Development Center. 💻: https://houstonrise.exposure.co/football-development-center-fdc
  6. I would think he is no longer a walk-on and may be a preferred walk on on scholarship. Regardless he's earned his stripes. And I am impressed to see him working so hard. Kid has extreme passion.
  7. Car rental prices are through the roof in Vegas right now. I am probably going to try a ride sharing program due to the cost. This was a good article on why it is happening. Why It’s Impossible to Rent a Car Right Now Three June days exploring the roads around Rome in a rented Fiat 500: $276. An SUV for a long weekend in July in Orlando: $455. A week in August touring the Algarve in a family-friendly automatic: $845. But costs aren’t the only problem—there simply aren’t any cars to rent in some destinations. What happened? The pandemic, the chip shortage, and the war in Ukraine, for starters. But this isn’t just a short-term shock; the car rental market could be changed forever. That’s likely to mean permanently higher prices, an influx of electric cars, and the appearance of Chinese brands—and perhaps even the rise of peer-to-peer car sharing as a mainstream alternative, if enough people are willing to share their cars with strangers. Things started to break down in early 2020, when lockdowns around the world resulted in the car rental market falling off a cliff. Almost two-thirds of Avis-Budget’s rental business at airports vanished, with revenues company-wide sliding 41 percent year-on-year in 2020. At Europcar, 2020 revenue was down 42 percent, and Hertz's revenue fell 46 percent before it filed for bankruptcy—though it has since restructured and recovered. In response to the mayhem, rental companies sold off their cars. In the UK, fleets were slashed by 30 percent, according to the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA), a car rental membership organization. In 2019, Hertz had 700,000 vehicles globally. In the first quarter of 2022, that collapsed to 481,000, according to a company spokesperson. Europcar’s fleet size numbered 293,000 vehicles in the first quarter of 2020 but plunged to 187,200 in 2021. That move made sense as the industry’s two key markets, businesses and vacation travelers, were stuck at home, explains Yusuf Allinson, an analyst at market research firm IBISWorld. “There’s no point holding onto depreciating assets that were not generating money,” he says. But as lockdowns eased and travel recovered, car rental companies couldn’t restock, thanks to a chip shortage that stalled manufacturing, a problem exacerbated by complex supply chains that rely on parts made or assembled in Ukraine. The ensuing shortage of cars in rental lots more than doubled prices. Over Easter, car rental costs were up by an average of 135 percent across Portugal, Cyprus, Spain, Greece, Italy, and France versus 2019 levels, according to consumer organization Which. “You’re buying the car for more, you’re fueling it for more, there’s more demand—it’s very logical for prices to increase,” Allinson says. read more: https://www.wired.com/story/car-rental-pandemic-shortage/?utm_source=pocket-newtab
  8. I really really do like Littrell. He seems like a good guy that would be fun to play golf with or have drinks with. He has represented UNT well off the field. He never cheated or has never done anything to demean UNT. Never heard a coach, player or parent complain about him once. I just don't know if he's the guy we need here to get things to the next AAC level. I'm really sad to say that but the bar has been raised. My heart wants him to stay and do well but my gut says he just isn't the right guy and we need to go in another direction.
  9. I think that was the original plan and then they decided to just wrap up Texas and not leave anything behind for the Mountain West to add. Just my opinion but seems to make sense. Remember, Houston used to be Cougar high and faced all the same prejudices we have faces in prior years and now they are looking pretty good. their time in C-USA and American played a part in that. It's a very good opportunity but it is up to us on where it goes from here.
  10. As I recall he had some health issues that were pretty serious and RV fired him anyway, maybe while he was still recovering or even in the hospital? I remember that Mattress Mac got plenty pissed off about it and threatened to pull his million dollar donation from us. Not saying what DD did was right but he was plenty sick and angry at the time and probably felt betrayed by how it played out.
  11. To me this just speeds up the timetable for @Wren to get this football ship righted. If we don't we are going to struggle mightily against these new AAC programs.

  13. That's exactly what I was thinking.
  14. Yeah to me it's sort of the big UNT lie. They claim we can't afford it but yet schools with much less resources like UTSA and La Tech and others can? To me I have always believed that UNT doesn't want it because it would force them to run a tighter ship in the AD office and maybe not have as big of a bench. Do people realize we have by far the biggest AD budegt in CUSA? Not sure about the AAC but I'd bet we are up there. The sad thing is with our location we would immediately be a top flight competitor in the AAC. And yet we just shut down shop every spring and summer like Wally World. Countless donor opportunities are being passed up and more importanly connections to the students, fans and donors. BRING BACK BASEBALL!!
  15. But the fact is none of the young people that care about being engaged socially want to go there. Take UTA for instance. That school used to have a vibrant campus and greek system etc. It has become a suitcase college with no visible identity. UNT has done a good job of making it more of a college experience and the growth of Denton has been good as well. You really can stay in Denton over the weekends now unlike a few years ago when you had to head to Dallas to have fun.
  16. I think both of the twins would have been on the list as 1st teamers. We've had a high amount of portal defections and it is hard for these publications to monitor the turnover. For instance, Trieb may be a stud but noone knows about him. I also could say the same about Gunnell.
  17. DENTON, Texas – North Texas Athletics will partner with Trey Athletes in its first Athlete Transition Program, a career development opportunity designed specifically for college athletes. 18. I thought Roy Orbison would have been a decent choice. 2nd would be robocop.
  19. I don't know much about him but I know I love him. And that may be all there is to know.
  20. I feel sort of guilty for doubting Littrell these past few months. Even my wife said earlier that I seemed much happier and had more of a hop in my step lately. Not to put the cart before the horse but I feel like we have a chance to compete for the league title now if everything falls into place.
