  1. DENTON — The North Texas men’s basketball team had one of its best offensive performances of the year Saturday as they defeated FIU 72-57 from the Super Pit. The Mean Green (11-3, 2-1) had four players score in double figures against the Panthers (6-7, 0-2), led by Tylor Perry’s 20, and shot 50 percent from the field as a team (23-46). “How we played offensively today shows what our potential can be on that end of the court,” said senior Tyree Eady who scored a season-high 11 points against FIU. “We were confident shooters today and made our free throws.” UNT made 11 3-pointers Saturday, its most in 10 games and shot 52.4 percent from deep. They were 4-of-5 in the second half. They were 15-of-18 at the free throw line, which tied a season-high percentage at the charity stripe. In addition to Eady’s season-high scoring output Saturday, junior Rubin Jones who is still not 100 percent since having offseason surgery, also scored a season-high against FIU as he finished with 12 points. Jones was also a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line Saturday. Senior Kai Huntsberry got out of a shooting funk Saturday as he scored 18 points. His highest scoring output in eight games. “To win this conference we know it’s going to start with defense,” Huntsberry said. “But we all know we can be better offensively than we have the last few games. “ UNT had the strong offensive performance Saturday despite junior Abou Ousmane going scoreless for the first time in 45 games. Villanova in the round of 32 of the 2021 NCAA Tournament was the last team to hold Ousmane without a point. Saturday, Ousmane got in foul trouble in the first few minutes of the game. North Texas hits the road next as they travel to Western Kentucky on Thursday to face the Hilltoppers. Tip is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network and the Mean Green Sports Network, presented by Learfield.
  2. I think portal teams could request a medical report or xrays etc. if truly interested. I think the bigger issue is does he fit in Eric' s offense? They seem to like the scat backs.
  3. They will be recruiting more on a national scene now with their big win over Michigan. Will give us more good football players in DFW and the state. I hope they beat Georgia as well!
  4. You're a good fan and I always look forward to your postings.
  5. I have Youtube and miss seeing the Astros games. May check it out.
  6. The article appears to have been posted 15 hours ago. Could be misinformed.
  7. Eady looks fantastic today!
  8. We're 8th in the conference in FG percentage. That stinks. Hopefully we can heat up.
  9. First team: Jaylen Smith, Sophomore, University of North Texas (Hamilton, Ont.) With dynamic special teamers like Jonathan Sutherland and Nolan Ulm already on the first team in positional roles, our kick coverage spot will go to Mean Green linebacker Jaylen Smith for a second straight season. The six-foot, 210-pound teams demon made five tackles on specials this year, while also seeing an increased role on defence. He finished the season with 15 total tackles and two tackles for loss in 14 games. read more: https://3downnation.com/2022/12/30/abbotts-2022-ncaa-all-canadians-defence/
  10. Jalen Guyton is a wide receiver for the Los Angles Chargers, the Dallas Cowboys signed him as a undrafted free agent after the 2019 NFL draft. Guyton has given modest performance over the years but will he rise through the ranks to become one of the wide receivers in the league? Here is everything you know about his contract details, net worth, personal life, and career. Net worth and Sponsorships The 25-year-old’s net worth is estimated at around 2 million dollars. Being at the growing point of his career he has a long way to and if he dominates the field and catches the media’s eye with his impressive show on the field, he will land high-paying sponsors which will contribute to skyrocketing his net worth and fame. His current numbers will increase by the end of his current contract. Career from early days to the league Originally from Texas attended Allen High School where his football career ignited. He was productive and efficient on the field making him one of the top-performing players in his class. Not much is known about his time in High school so it can be said that he was a star player with stellar statistics and received offers from top-tier schools in the country. Being a three-star prospect out of high school He committed to playing college football at Notre Dam University initially. Entering through the doors as a freshman at Notre Dame University he was kicked out of the program and later spent a year at Trinity Valley community college after which he transferred to the University of North Texas and became part of the North Texas Greens football program he wanted to dominate the field so he spent as much time as he could on the field and was hell-bent on improving his play. His statistics during his freshman, sophomore, or junior season is not known but he did really level up his standards in his senior season. read more: https://www.mediareferee.com/jalen-guyton-net-worth-girlfriend-cars-salary-contract/
  11. When do we find out who we play or do we play every team every season? I am interested in the Navy and Temple games. Also wondering if we get to play SMU at the Hilltop or back at home.
  12. New North Texas Mean Green head coach Eric Morris announced a handful of hires to his coaching staff in Denton on Wednesday, including the addition of Texas LonghornsDirector of High School Relations Chris Gilbert, who will serve as the associate head coach/tight ends coach. It’s the first on-field coaching role for Gilbert, who spent nearly two seasons on the Forty Acres serving as a key conduit to high school coaches in the Metroplex in addition to building relationships with recruits, especially during on-campus visits. A graduate of South Oak Cliff in South Dallas, Gilbert had a long and successful history as a head coach in the Metroplex. After playing college football at Angelo State, Gilbert had stops as an assistant at Dallas Carter, Greenville, and Bryan before taking over at his alma mater in 2006. Gilbert was able to quickly turn around the South Oak Cliff program, going 9-3 in his third season. read more: https://www.burntorangenation.com/platform/amp/2022/12/28/23529869/chris-gilbert-hire-north-texas-mean-green-texas-longhorns-recruiting
  13. Is be ok with bringing in a guy like Gush.
  14. Jelly is pretty special. How many more years of eligibility does he have?
  15. I am loving Coach Morris’ new staff, but have a concern that they are all very young. Doesn’t he need to hire an older but wiser coach that could help him with experience?
  16. Merry xmas!
  17. Yes this! Would love to have us with a director of relations. That would help our recruiting a lot.
  18. No offense man but do you not understand that teams said the same thing about Houston and UCF and Cincy when they joined the American which was on the heels of the Big East walking away from football? They said all the good teams were leaving your league and so you suck etc... The truth is, Tulane is a top notch program in the top 20 and will likely stay there with Fritz at the helm. SMU is SMU but they have tons of money and history... UTSA could be big and they are consistently top 25.. UAB is stout year in and their basketball team may be the best in the league... I agree Charlotte and Rice are nothing special in football but each brings certain good aspects like Rice academics and Charlotte's location TV market... I think Memphis may be on the cusp of a P5 move.. You seem like you want to take away what the America has done which is propel teams into bigger leagues. They also are the only G5 conference that had a team in the playoffs which is big. Please stop trying to downgrade our new conference or at least be fair with your criticism.
  19. Arkansas is expected to host tight end transfer Jake Roberts for an official visit on Jan. 4. Roberts, 6-5 and 250 pounds, announced plans to transfer from North Texas and enter the portal on Dec. 20. He has since received offers from Arkansas, California, Baylor, SMU, Nebraska, Indiana, Oregon State, Rutgers, Tennessee and others. He was a consensus 3-star prospect in the 2020 class coming out of Norman (Okla.) North High School. He chose the Mean Green over offers from Air Force, Colorado, Eastern Michigan, Memphis, Tulsa and Missouri State. Roberts is humbled that he has received so many offers since announcing his transfer. “It’s been crazy," he said. "It’s one of those things, I thought I would get some interest but to have the level I have right now, it’s pretty cool. I didn’t have that coming out of high school. I’m bless to be where I’m at and have to make a really hard decision. I know I’ll make the right one.” He had 28 catches for 394 yards and 3 touchdowns this season. He had 43 receptions for 542 yards and 3 touchdowns during his career at North Texas. Because he announced his transfer during the dead period, Roberts will have to wait to travel to schools during the Jan. 4-8 window when transfers can officially visit schools. “The timeline is so much shorter,” said Roberts, who has two years of eligibility remaining. “Only a couple of weeks timeline now. It’s lot different than it was coming out of high school." Roberts’ recruitment will be hurried this time around, so now he’s in relationship-building mode. “I’m just trying to build relationships with these coaches over the phone, and another thing that makes it hard is the inability to visit right,” he said. “If I was able to get on campus, I believe it would make it a little easier but we just have the visit window from the 4th to the 8th is have to try and decide which schools I’m going to see and make a decision based on that.” He said he’ll likely limit each visit to one day per school. “I think four or five (visits). With my location, I’m within driving distances to some places like Arkansas and SMU,” Roberts said. “It would be tough. I’m going to try.” read more: https://www.wholehogsports.com/news/2022/dec/23/transfer-te-expected-to-visit-hogs/
