This may/may not answer your question, but in the gomeangreen podcast, they mention that 247 rated the transfer portal players first. This resulted in delayed ratings for the players. (A couple of our new signees are not rated).

I like how they mainly recruit guys with 2, 3, or 4 years of eligibility. They limit the 1 year guys. Like you said, this method may be sustainable.

Right. Morris was supposed to come in from Alabama and tee it high. Fine got into a game pretty early season game (SMU?) and quickly flashed potential. He was fun to watch.

That’s wild to me. Isn’t that what Ruder did last season? I get he wanted to complete his degree at UNC (congrats to him), but I have to believe it hurt him as far as prepping for the season. So if they were to enroll during the summer, even that wouldn’t ensure a commitment? I guess I’m new to this transfer works. Thanks for your insight. Looking forward to the latest podcast. GMG!

I don’t think this team will need a Mason Fine type QB next year, but it does need more consistency/accuracy than last year. I’m hopeful that between the new guys and the returning crew that one will emerge.

This is how I felt before today, but this late push (5 solid signees) has me feeling better about the recruiting efforts of this coaching staff. Still have a few available slots to find some OL, DL, and DB’s. I’m cautiously optimistic…

Sounds consistent with what he said in December. There appears to be some good players still looking for a place to play. SL has had some success with later signees. Hope UNT can pick up some players that Can jump in and contribute right away!

I believe he said that will be his position. He played a similar role in HS and at UCA.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen the battle flag on the state of Texas. It’s a good look.

IIRC, not many schools wanted both of them. They wanted one, or the other, but not both. They’ve also bulked up since they’ve been here.

We had the best recruiting class in CUSA last year by signing kids early, so our response is to completely change the strategy?!?! It just seems strange. Here’s to hoping they have an inside track to some late signees/difference makers. GMG!

Rod Brown was a great addition last year! Bush should be good, too. It we end up landing these caliber of players with this strategy, I’m good with it. It’s a risky move, though. Hope it pays off. GMG!

It’s inevitable, right? That’s the G5 reality. Who’s the next man up, though? The challenge would be to hire within for some continuity, or look elsewhere. GMac is good stuff. Love having him on our side. GMFG!
