Secondary’s Lack of Playmaking
Glory to the Green replied to BillySee58's topic in Mean Green Football
I can see that point of view. I see the offers going out to higher rated recruits (not sure about transfer portal, though). There appears to be a desire to bring in P5’s, but they only seem to bite on offense. -
Big Jim (battle flag) at half staff

It was like that yesterday, too. Yesterday May have been for the Queen. -
I remember talking to a Nebraska fan right after the hire. I believe his words were, “The Great White Hope.”

Secondary’s Lack of Playmaking
Glory to the Green replied to BillySee58's topic in Mean Green Football
I don’t see it as a negative. Mazin and Trieb have been good additions. He would have been another one. As long as the player contributes, it doesn’t matter where they were before arriving on campus. -

I think he would have been a difference maker. Like Mazin/Trieb, but in the secondary. Big loss for sure. -
I thought it was a decent showing by the students. Not sure if they bumped up the attendance.

DRC: Five thoughts on UNT's win over Texas Southern
Glory to the Green replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I thought there was a moment when Ruder was primed to go in (after GG’s pick). I guess the coaches reconsidered? At this point, I don’t care who gets the start, I’m just tired of seeing consistently overthrown/underthrown balls to our open receivers. It’s frustrating. -
I missed the SMU game, but it appeared the issues were mostly resolved from that game. We had a group of 7. We had a nice time.

DRC: Five thoughts on UNT's win over Texas Southern

He walks with a little limp. I wonder if that’s a new thing that’s affecting his throw? -
My game day experience was great! There were 3 blue lot workers at 4:30, parking was easy, tailgate/kid area was great for the kids, alumni pavilion was a cool vibe, food was good, and UNT won. Looking forward to the next one! GMG!

***OFFICIAL GMG TSU Vs. UNT IN-Game Discussion***
Glory to the Green replied to Coach Andy Mac's topic in Mean Green Football
I’d love to see our QB(s) and receivers get some in game reps. I feel like we should win (35 pt spread right meow). Let’s see if they can gain some confidence. First, a win. Second, some QB experience. GMG! -
IIRC, he struggled with his grades. Hope he has a great season and makes his way back to Denton. All the best, Caleb!

Glory to the Green replied to Coach Andy Mac's topic in Mean Green Football
I enjoyed the show, guys. It’s funny how different Mean Green fans have similar experiences. After our first really well attended game in Apogee, I remember griping to my brother about the lines, cell service, and parking. He then said, “I miss when we were bad.” 😂😂😂 -
Is this considered an SMU thread?

It’s Vegas. It happens.

The State of Mean Green Football, in Haiku

This one’s a bit more hopeful: TSU’s in town Mean Green’s bound for 2-1 The win streak begins -
I did. We ran for over 200 yards on them (Redzone was a different story). We had open receivers that were under thrown (they were also under thrown vs UTEP, but those passes were completed due to lesser competition). On defense, our running defense was okay. The passing defense left much to be desired. Mordecai is the best QB we’ll face this year. At times, his receivers made us look bad. UNT had its chances to make the game competitive in the first half, but consistently crapped the bed (offense, defense, and ST). I’m not throwing the baby out with the bath water, though. This team can still have a very good season. Will it? I’m not sure, but I hope so. I also hope the team learns from Saturday and uses it to fuel the rest of the season.

You’re right. It was the most spirited I’d ever seen a UNT fan base, though. Positive and negative. Regardless of the coach, I hope I’m able to experience it again. It’s fun when the games matter. GMG!

It may be my green glasses, but I don’t think this team is that far away from being competitive this year. I don’t know about next year, but this team is way too talented and there are too many quality coaches here to crap the bed again. I see this being a quality year. I think we’d need to GG or Earle, or someone else to get a true feel for next season. The QB is too important a position to not have a contingency plan. I’m not even sure I answered your question. GMG!

I’m currently backing SL! He’s coaching for UNT and I want him to succeed because it means our team is successful. But since we’re talking about it, Skip Holtz. That guy was a thorn in our side for the longest time. He did it with less, too. I’m team Seth, but if Wren goes in a different direction after the season, Skip would be a solid hire.
