Sucks to be #2 ULL , or even #3 ASU for that matter... but it's all roses for #4 FAU. Jeez... so much for setting up the possibilities for a total of 3 bowl tie-ins as announced earlier this year (New Orleans, Papajohns.com, and Independence). I guess it was just a "feel good" announcement for the Sun Belt at the time, especially when those that deserve to represent the conference (be them because of better records of tie-breakers) are skipped over in favor of last years Sun Belt champ. I was really getting excited about the possibilities of LaTech playing ULL. But this is just one more reason for the Sun Belt to dislike LaTech. Especially the Belt teams in LA (ULM and ULL). One can only hope FAU travels well to their Motor City Bowl in Detroit, and kicks the snot out of Central Michigan. Not so worried about Troy, against Southern Mississippi. I think they'll handle themselves in this match-up and will represent the Sun Belt well. Go TROY ! ! !

Any one know what this is all about? I know Casey was graduating, but didn't hear anything as to why we're losing Stickler. Or maybe I must have missed something. Edit: Ok, I did miss something... Stickler is graduating too it looks like. I found the same article on the DRC site, but it had some modified wording in this regard, and also more info after the article.

I mentioned this same thin in an earlier post, glad to see I'm not the only one who thought this was a bad decision.

Not only that but the last play of the first half for NT made no sense. With a few seconds on the clock (7 I believe it was), and the ball at midfield and the wind at your back, why not take a shot into the end zone, or maybe attempt a 20 yard play to the sideline, either one will give you an opportunity to put up some points. Instead, a running play is called and Dodge is content to go to the locker room down by 3. I'll admit the team played well through the first half and deserved a bit more of confidence boost that that. Also, I question playing Phillips late in the game. I understand that he is an outgoing senior and Dodge wanted to give him a series of downs to work with, but when Vizza and the offense are clicking and making plays and driving the length of the field... why not keep the momentum going and not disrupt any progress that is occurring. Instead, Phillips went in and the first play was a hand-off to Montgomery that was not clean at all. I just question the decision and the timing, especially since Meager was given the opportunity during the second possession of the first quarter.

That is a good question, and one I think should have been considered. And would have made more sense, especially since the weather that weekend was MUCH better in terms of temperature. Even the time of the game (1pm) would have been good as it seems all of our games are schedules for a 6pm start time (beats me why this is), but a few early games would be good. One other question I'd like to ask, because I am dumbfounded by what I saw, is with regards to the merchandise stand within the stadium. If I were a betting man, I would have had bet that many of the fans who attended the game were COLD. So, why not stock the stands selling merchandise/apparel with a huge amount of sweatshirts, hoodies and long sleeve t-shirts for those fans who were unprepared for the weather conditions getting cooler as the game continued. I walked by the stands on the alum side (hoping ot buy a sweatshirt) and they only had PINK sweatshirts left. What!?! PINK!?! This was the perfect opportunity to get some sales for winter items on fans, especially since this might have been considered a possible "Black Saturday" (which might be why the Athletic Dept. decided to schedule this game today as opposed to 11/15). Regardless, my point is that a bit of forethought and preparation on the side of the folks running ht merchandise stands could have been a wind fall on sales of NT apparel for those fans that were cold. I counted at least 20 folks who walked up to the guy selling the merchandise and asked about sweatshirts. He graciously pointed to the PINK sweatshirt he donned and said, "This is all we have left." To which the common reply was, "No green? I can't do PINK."

Hey, that's my site! Regarding this Alabama game... I had found at one point information that we were slated to play Alabama. When I find these nuggets of info, I try to make it a point to keep the URL of the source. I checked and I did not retain this URL in this case. I will most likely remove this game from the schedule on this site, when time permits. Apologies for any confusion this may have caused for folks on this board. I hope this helps clear up this Alabama "rumor" that was started.
