  1. There's a number of ways the ACC could implode. The FSU to B12 route is about the most improbable you could imagine. It just doesn't make andy sense on many levels
  2. He makes it further clear it's just idle speculation elsewhere I couldn't immediately find, but here's something
  3. This is just silly clickbait. Even the quoted origin of the story Ross Dillinger clarified that it was just speculation about all possible outcomes and it's the most unlikely possibility. He rated "ACC kicks out lowest performing schools to make an 8 team conference", which is similarly contractually ridiculous
  4. Memphis is a post-apocalyptic wasteland city. No market at all. They add nothing to a conference, unless you think that giant AI data center Elon is about to build will flip the whole city. Invest in slums today.
  5. Everyone is paying for play in reality. But they all conform with the technicalities of the laws/rules by doing things like requiring the athletes to do certain interviews or events to justify paying for their NIL. Trying to back collect would break the technicality.
  6. It can't be pay for play. So you are paying for their image. Them transferring doesn't retroactively remove value from, say, the commercial they did last season.
  7. Sure, I'd love local, like a SWC. But that's not an option. If we want to be players in college football we have to take what's available. And it's not like flying to Navy, Temple, etc in the AAC were all bus trips. All conferences are spread now. You just have to get familiar with StatusJet.
  8. It's weird how defeatist this board is. You're closer than you've ever been. Anyone ahead of you in the state has moved up, except, very debatable, UTSA. You're next up. Get really buddy buddy with the PAC leftovers.
  9. I will defend it as an excellent analysis
  10. There's a great book on this topic worth reading if you're interested. Whitford's book focuses on what SMU did in a vacuum, but Blewett's book looks at what is happening around SMU, compares penalties for similar infections between UT/A&M and everyone else in the conference, connections between UT and the NCAA, etc.
  11. Apparently you did not study the lesson of the great musical psalm by Reba: "Fancy". She could have accepted her fate and wallowed in poverty (G5) like the rest of her family, but she treated the men "real nice", whoring herself out and escaped crushing generational poverty to live a good and affluent (P4) life. As Bud Fox said, "There's no nobility in poverty"
  12. 1. I live in Denton, I like to keep tabs on the local team. 2. It is definitely more interesting than ponyfans. Anyone not crazy left for the pay boards years ago. Most are on On3 now.
  13. Are you trying to justify it to me or to yourself?
  14. Grown man hosting a pool party for a bunch of teen boys?
  15. I don't think we had the Dream Team out there playing for us https://x.com/RGIII/status/1806181763615498630?t=FgYB4UJj1gEaQr0hx0nc_g&s=19
  16. Look at the comments. That's not what people are saying. That's what some really low quality clickbait hacks are saying. Look at all their videos. It's laughable. But even their argument doesn't make sense. "Broke SMU bought their way into ACC". If we are broke how did we buy our way in? What? And what does it even mean to "buy" in? We aren't spending out of pocket and we are making more than we made in AAC. That's a fan argument, not a journalist argument. The B12 didn't take us because we added nothing they don't have. Dallas is covered with TCU and partially with Baylor and Tech. It was much more advantageous for them to go elsewhere and add new markets. We would only add competition for existing schools locally. I wouldn't add us either if I were them. It's the same reason UNT was never going to get an invited into a conference with SMU until it was obvious we were leaving and a DFW backfill was needed.
  17. Give me a break. Every "level playing field" has just been a tool for the top schools to keep everyone else suppressed w.hile they absolutely aren't on the same level field. It's still not level, but at least you CAN move up if you can marshall the resources now. We've gone from feudalism to a free market. The aristocrats still start with most of the money but there Is a way. I might also remind you, the annual NIL values aren't so big YOU couldn't be leveraging it if you could mobilize your billion alumni and a few Denton businesses. UNT is the perpetrator not the victim in NIL failure.
  18. Will P4 teams still be allowed to play lower division conference schools like AAC or SWAC?
  19. SMU isn't making much more than teams in the American I'm told. Are they your peer?
  20. I can't wait for Gordon Gekko to dismantle and sell off the Big 12 in pieces. "Why do you need to wreck this conference?" "Because it's wreckable, all right?"
  21. A bunch of people used to dealing with academics and rich people giving you money for their own hubris get involved with some of the most greedy profit-oriented sharks around......what could go wrong?
  22. You'd think you'd want to expand your fan base by enticing locals
  23. I live in Denton. No word on the Houstonite
