  1. I understand Caponi wanting to hire guys for the Iowa State staff, since they already understand the system, but I'm skeptical of this guy's actual coaching experience with LB's.
  2. This makes the most sense. Texas Tech plays tonight, so if he's going to be the new OC, maybe we hear something tomorrow or Friday.
  3. Because of the nature of recruiting and content development, I wouldn't be surprised if Morris stretches that money further and has a few extra part-time positions that work in shifts. Recruiting and social media posting isn't a 9 to 5 job.
  4. Sure. Mosley wants to turn dirt on the athletic expansion. It is the top building priority within the athletic department. Most of the other building projects will remain stalled until this expansion is completed. If you've ever been inside the AC, you know how short they are on space and resources to accommodate all of our athletes. The new master plan should be released early in 2023, and it will have the redesigned (all of those new off the field positions need space) and expanded athletic center as the top priority. Hope that helps.
  5. Ha! I have no clue. Maybe after New Year's. I'd think Caponi will have a big say in who serves on that side of the ball.
  6. Nope. No one told me anything about the next hire. I was just guessing.
  7. I guess Christmas isn't over yet.... When was the last time a North Texas coach hired so much of his staff from the likes of Texas, Alabama, & USC? Never! What a great time to be a Mean Green fan!
  8. You should start a thread with a poll and maybe we could glean some information from the results.
  9. Hey jayD, Can you add the S&C coaching position to your list? I know it's an off the field position, but it's going to be an important hire too. Thanks! Can't wait to see how this staff fills out.
  10. I got no problem with this. Mooney was a good kicker for us, and players should support their coaches. Mayes is certainly a great coach, and had Morris chosen to keep him I'd have been happy about it. Morris is obviously planning on using his TE's in a different way, and Mayes just isn't going to be part of that plan. No hard feelings. Mooney will get over it and all will be good.
  11. I think it is important to remember that coach O also knows the high-profile recruits that went out of state and have since decided to jump into the portal. If those guys want to come back to Texas, he's probably going to be one of the first to know about it.
  12. "O" how Christmas has come early. Merry Christmas and Go Mean Green!!! I can't wait to see how our roster looks after the February signing day.
  13. Good stuff. Thanks for posting this.
  14. True, but it's the better half of C-USA.
  15. I agree. Zach seems to be thriving as an NFL coach, and that is also good for UNT. Maybe someday he would want to return to the Mean Green, but after his NFL journey is finished.
  16. I'd think this means the hiring of new staff will continue after he returns from Christmas break. Merry Christmas Coach Morris.
  17. I'm sure the $1,100,000 for off the field staff is also an increase.
  18. Exactly. I have no doubt that Seth loved being our coach and cared about his players. I wish the results on the field had been different because I did like Littrell.
  19. I went to Littlefield last summer for a family reunion and stopped at that Allsup's. "Shallowater... Where pride runs deep" Got to like a town with a slogan like that. Morris seems like an authentic regular guy. His post-game press conferences should be fun.
  20. I know I spent 3 years railing against Seth being our coach, but I never had anything personal against the guy. By all accounts he is a decent man, and I wish him and his family all the best. I hope he has great success at Mississippi State, and I hope when he gets another shot at being a head coach, he will be successful. Congratulation Seth.
  21. For comparison, in 2020 UNT allotted $1,745,000 for their 10 assistant coaching positions (that salary pool was at the top of C-USA... and yes, I'm a nerd and keep stats on things like this). Having $2,400,000 for the 2023 staff represents a major increase in assistants' compensation. In 2023, UNT's assistants will be more in line with what our new peers in the AAC pay. Sure, Morris probably could have received a higher salary, but it is smart for him to spend that money on getting top notch assistants. If things go well and Morris wins AAC championships, then he will sign extensions for bigger paydays.
