  1. I can respect that. We are both going to hope for this best.
  2. Okay. He has one year as a high school coach. That doesn't ease my mind. I have no problem with him getting a chance at being a college coach, but that is what the FCS jobs are for. I believe we needed a D-line coach with some skins on the wall at some level of college football. But since the hire has been made, I just have to hope this Houston GA pans out.
  3. Disagree with me about the hire if you want, but there is no record of his ability. Being a GA at a couple of programs isn't enough of a resume.
  4. Jennings is a UNT guy, so I like that. But his secondary wasn't great last season at Texas State. They gave up around 244 yard per game in passing. Of course, that was still better than our secondary. If our front 7 can do a decent job, I think Jennings' secondary will hold up fine.
  5. Bennett's son-in-law was a bad hire too.
  6. Until Gary proves he can handle this job, I view this as a bad hire. The D-line job is too important to place in the hands of a guy that has never held an actual coaching position at any level. There had to be better options.
  7. Would a QB named Sanders be on that list?
  8. Exactly! It looks like the kind of crap UTSA would produce.
  9. But his defense got their ass kicked last night. Texas Tech put 42 points on Ole Miss, and his D-line gave up 242 yards rushing. I don't want that at UNT either. We need successful experienced coaches in charge of our lines. We should be able to poach an actual D-line coach from one of the successful Sun Belt, C-USA, or MAC programs. A GA from Houston should not even be an option.
  10. "DRC: FAU charges back from late deficit to stun UNT" is the wrong title for this article. It should read... "DRC: Everyone but Perry and Ousmane Played Like Crap, So UNT Lost".
  11. I have always been of the opinion that the lines are the heart of every team. As the offensive and defensive lines go, so goes the team. These positions need to go to talented proven coaches, not upstart GA's from other G5 programs. If Gary is the actual hire for the D-line position, then I officially have a problem with where this defensive coaching staff is headed. It's irresponsible to let unproven guys handle either of these position groups, and Morris and Caponi should know better.
  12. I think it makes UNT look like some kind of daycare. It clearly states we are a Tier 1 university, but then follows that by pimping how great our food is. This POS looks like some kind of community college ad. No insight into the quality of our programs, or how UNT develops the leaders of tomorrow. No comment on learning. It's just playtime at UNT. Absolutely terrible.
  13. Only the last paragraph in your post matters, and it is spot on. Mac has to get more out of every player not named Perry or Ousmane. FAU only scored 50 points. Regardless of the refs, this is a game we should have won. Time for some of those role players to grow up and contribute when they step onto the court in the big games.
  14. This better be a joke. Demerick Gary needs to go be a coach in the FCS or Sun Belt first. We can't seriously be looking to hire a GA from Houston to be our next D-line coach. That screams bush league. First our basketball team sh!ts the bed, and now this. Could my night get any worse?
  15. I don't mind our slow defensive style. I mind how most of our players missed everything they shot. Even with the refs on our case all night, if anyone else in a Mean Green jersey would have hit a few shots, UNT would have won this game.
  16. The offense is inept because 3 for the players on the court don't hit their shots. Perry and Ousmane can't produce all of the points.
  17. Absolutely terrible finish to the game. Perry did all he could. At some point the other players need to step up and make shots too. Mac should run the sh!t out of those guys tonight before they get to leave the Pit. The NET is going to punish us for the way we blew this game.
  18. I see it both ways. I can appreciate that Caponi knows and believes this guy can do the job, and apparently he can recruit. But, due to his lack of experience as an actual coach, it's logical that Mean Green fans question the hire.
  19. Who is this Littrell you speak of?
  20. jayD, We still need O-line and D-line coaches. Have you heard anything?
  21. Well, he was really successful as the DB coach at Iowa State. I'm actually glad he will be directly coaching our secondary. Hopefully it will be a strength next season.
  22. So Daivs will serve as the WR coach and hold the title of OC, while Morris runs the show?
  23. I understand Caponi wanting to hire guys for the Iowa State staff, since they already understand the system, but I'm skeptical of this guy's actual coaching experience with LB's.
  24. This makes the most sense. Texas Tech plays tonight, so if he's going to be the new OC, maybe we hear something tomorrow or Friday.
  25. Because of the nature of recruiting and content development, I wouldn't be surprised if Morris stretches that money further and has a few extra part-time positions that work in shifts. Recruiting and social media posting isn't a 9 to 5 job.
