I agree with this 100%. Only a soft team gives up at 21-point lead to lose a game.

Sheffield dropped some passes, but this loss isn't on him. He wasn't sending in bad plays for the offense, or playing on the defensive side of the ball, or kicking field goals tonight. When a team has as many issues as we had tonight, the blame falls squarely on the coaches.

I could never cheer against tour team, but..... When this big of segment of our fan base is reduced to cheering against our team's success, it is past time for our AD to step in and fix this sh!t. We have to have a change at head coach.

With the exception of Cobbs, I agree. It is time to clean house.

1. In two season, Morris has been phenomenal at finding QB's and having them put up insane passing numbers. The problem is that no other facet of our team comes close to looking elite in the AAC. Our receivers are okay, but they drop way too many passes. 2. Morris isn't even good enough to remain here as an offensive coordinator. Every defense with a pulse has shut down his gimmick offense. Morris is so locked in on his pass happy scheme, he has no answer when our offense needs to line up and play smash-mouth football and fight for a yard. Plus, sometimes he goes for it, when a real OC would punt. 3. His attention to defense has been appalling. Sure he finally fired Caponi, but a bunch of us regular non-football coaching fans knew Caponi was a fraud last season. Why couldn't Morris see it? A real coach would have seen it and addressed it before it reached this level of embarrassment and incompetence. 4. The best hire he has made on his staff was Cobbs, and that was probably because us fans on this message board pushed for it (Cobb has done an amazing job of patching our RB room into something respectable). 5. Tonight, Morris was outcoached by an interim that might not be ECU's head coach next season. Think about that. In short, I'd keep Morris here next year, but only as the QB coach on someone else's staff. As a head coach, Morris is shaping up to be another Littrell. He beats bums, and loses to any team that will actually post a winning record. I have no interest in watching more of this crap for two more year, while the AD waits to afford a new coach. What a waste of a 5-1 season.

I used to think Texas ties were an important factor to consider when hiring coaches, but now I couldn't care less. It seems we have looked for Texas ties for at least the last 20 years, and more times than not, we got burned with bad hires, especially on defense. So, I don't care if the next DC can even spell Texas. I want a guy that doesn't run a 3-3-5 and has proven he can get it done at our level. Preferably at a program with less resources. That's my two cents.

Respect to FAU for cutting their losses and having standards. I love to see actual accountability.

Johnson has had a fine season at LA Tech, but I question the caliber of opponents LT has faced. I think NIU's Benedetto defense has faced some tougher competition and had more overall success. As far as current G5 defensive coordinators go, no one has matched his defense's success statistically against a similar level of competition.

After doing a little research, it is my opinion that Benedetto needs to get the job. The dude runs a 4-2-5, and this season his defense has not given up more than 28 points in any game. That includes NIU's 16-14 win over Notre Dame, and NIU's 24-17 loss to NC State. Benedetto's defense is only giving up an average of 284.4 yard per game and 18.5 points. for comparison, if UNT's defense didn't allow more than 28 points in any game this season, the Mean Green would be 7-3 right now. And that's with Morris' questionable discissions like passing up points, onside kicks after the first drive of the game, and not having a jumbo package in goal line situations.

Let's go totally gangsta, and make a statement with this hire. Let's send notice that North Texas will not tolerate losing to the likes of UTSA. I think we could get this guy as our next DC.............. I'm glad Caponi is gone. His firing is long past due. My problem is that most people knew during Morris' first year that Caponi wasn't the answer for our defense... except Morris. Morris let Caponi go into his first season at UNT without the players to run his 3-3-5 defensive scheme, and so UNT finished dead last in defense that season. Morris allowed Caponi to continue force feeding us the 3-3-5 going into year 2, and Caponi brought in a bunch of transfers, but the results have still sucked, even after we implemented more traditional schemes. And to make things worse... Morris has a habit of passing up points and going for it on 4th, which hasn't been successful against teams that can actually win games. Plus, Morris has no jumbo package for short yardage situations, which makes it easier for defenses to scheme against us on 4th down attempts. All of that to say, Morris is also a big reason why our defense sucks. Morris' decision making tends to place our defense in tough positions. Who is going to rein him in.

No, I remember the OU debut. But that was against a highly ranked OU team. This was UTSA, and they had a losing record this season.

Agreed. Cobbs is legit. After losing his entire running back room, he took a transfer wide receiver and turned him into a beast. Porter was our offense tonight. If our other coaches were just half as good at their jobs as Cobb is, we'd have a conference title team.

As far as results... No. Getting curb stomped by an FCS at homecoming is still worse. But from a coaching standpoint... it was absolutely worse. Never in my life have I seen worse coaching at the college level, than the job Morris did in the first half. Just putrid.

Morris has not built a tough team. UTSA has a tough team, not us. That's a big reason why they won. Our team is soft, and I think that's a big part of why we suck. I blame our coaches for that too.

Caponi never should have been back for this season. Morris did the worst coaching job I've ever seen at the college level in the first half of this game tonight Based on these facts, Morris needs to be fired. If Mosley can't afford the buyout, then he needs to be fired too. This shitshow must end.
