  1. Good to see Craven still douching it up for clicks and impressions with his "411" 10 second takes! Bravo!
  2. Fear not, the Light The Tower Collective is on the way with innovate approaches to fundraising, like attending Garth Brooks Concerts and soliciting backers from the concert floor! Next concert, I'm sure they'll bring the big check to do the photo op with since UTSA wants to be flashy like that, making $100k+ announcements..... pffff, honestly 🙄! Not really how our collective likes to roll..... That GB Fundraising Concert was two months ago, but we're more discrete with the announcements, no need to be flashy like that..... Nope, not on RV's watch don't ya know.... We'll have none of that flash, pomp and circumstance, thank you very much! You can follow all of the updates here: https://twitter.com/LightthetowerMG i *Sarcasm has been sprinkled into this post.
  3. A very true and sobering fact!
  4. I see you and some others jockeying hard on here today for that family dinner invite 🔥 🤣
  5. Hear me out.... Counter the sun/leaving with drink specials 🤣🍹🍺 50 Cent well drinks (Dollar doubles) were very much en vogue most nights on Fry Street (Weekend were 5-7pm or 7-9pm depending on the bar) when I was in school. Pick a game when attendance is expected to be low, make it a "Fry Street Theme Night" and offer up 50 Cent well drinks (Dollar Doubles) only beginning when the game starts and ending after the third quarter, throw some Jell-0 shots in there for a buck or two, $1 PBR (I think Lucky Lou's had that one night a week). Keep it on the student side of the Stadium and the upper part of the wing so the family vibe on the shaded side can co-exist. You may not make a killing but it would be a rocking crowd!
  6. Second that! Love him too and the incredible work he's done. I would add that I wouldn't support upping his salary or trying to compete financially to keep him. I think there are a lot of quality options for hungry and innovative AD's that can continue the growth that has occurred here under Wren (full credit for a lot of things) at the same cost (salary, bonuses, etc). I also think it looks good that he would be going to an ACC/Power 5 program - it increases the value of how the AD position is viewed by potential candidates, that one could go from UNT to a Power 5 AD position. If he is an eventual finalist for the position*, I think he knows you can't bank on these things coming around all the time, strike while the iron's hot. *I don't think he will be but being wrong here would be a pleasant surprise as it would mean that UNT is seen in the industry, amongst others and industry leaders, as having made great strides in Athletics under his leadership.
  7. *Thinking optimistically* Who hates on patriotism? Relax and have a beer!
  8. We've had some badass patriotic helmets recently, one that comes to mind but can't find a picture is the American Flag Eagle on the white helmet.... post it if you've got the pic!
  9. The first time I heard of Jim McElwain was when he complained that the Mayor didn't know his name and felt this was a personal affront to him, his team, and the University. Going so far as to call out and embarrass the mayor on the field through the PA system in a moment that should have been about celebrating the team, he made it about himself. https://larrybrownsports.com/college-football/colorado-state-jim-mcelwain-angry-mayor-of-denver-name/240027 The second time was when it was reported that he made up death threats towards his family at Florida. https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2017/10/24/16528762/jim-mcelwain-florida-death-threats And openly complained about the out-dated facilities at Florida, he seems to have a penchant for rubbing people the wrong way with his arrogance. https://www.firstcoastnews.com/article/sports/college/florida-gators/column-the-real-jim-mcelwain-from-his-previous-stop-in-colorado/77-487495108 I thought his reaction to the Mayor mispronouncing his name and his press conferences reaction where he was genuinely upset by this revealed an over inflated sense of self importance. A football coach is important in the football world and by extension athletics department. Anything beyond that would be due to the work one does in that role in the community and might serve to gain an increased admiration for the individual but by virtue, being a head football coach, does not demand public officials know (or even have to care) who you are. Most know this and wouldn't be moved one way or the other as to whether or not someone or anyone knew their name or who they were, McElwain reeks of arrogance, deluded by an overinflated ego. I don't think with him it's a matter of being able to look past it, as much as it is an inevitable headache not worth taking in that there are many other comparable candidates by any measure without the baggage. TL;DR - My two cents: the dude's a prick we can afford to avoid with comparable and better candidates already in the emerging pool of potential head coaches.
  10. I haven't been to a game at Apogee in a number of years but if this is ADA related then it reeks of someone throwing their weight around with no clue as to what they're talking about. You can do the ADA required parking space calculation at this link: https://nwadacenter.org/toolkit/accessible-parking-spaces-calculator My guess (if ADA was the consideration) is that someone ran the requirements for thousands (or total number of parking spaces) versus the parking area itself and decided to just make this an ADA lot and satisfy what they believe are the requirements. Here's a calculation for 10,000 spaces: I would estimate that lot or area is no more than 300 spaces and it should be calculated by specific, defined areas, not the total parking spaces then it looks like this: I'm confident, although it's been a minute, that each designated area already meets the requirement with regards to number of designated ADA parking spaces. If we add and used an open field for parking on game days for example, which is not already a permanent parking lot in regular use, a calculation would then need to be made for that area and the appropriate amount of ADA parking spots would need to be added to account for the additional temporary event parking. I don't believe this has been the case.
  11. Compartmentalizing and multitasking are both skills I developed at UNT and sharpened as an Alumni..... Thus, of what you mention, both are possible immediately following a game.... Fear not, It comes with time and experience.
  12. That was a pro slide from Aune!
  13. Half time vibes be like...... Probably a recruit based off the lanyard/pass.... There's arguments to be made for/against the music here... Momma looks happy, welcome to UNT, gotta shoot your shot if you in that section, just sayin'!
  14. They're sitting is their way of silently protesting the inappropriate language in the music being played at the stadium. Don't ask, it's a new generation!
  15. INT was en Feugo! 🔥 RIDGE TEXADA
  16. Proof the announcers are hungover and did no research: "Aune is going to have to be more consistent if he's going to lead this team to a bowl game or better yet a Conference Championship" This is right up their with his earlier comment: "Right now I'm looking to see where the sun is"
