  1. So North Texas never won any championships or bowl games? Give me a break. "We only beat bad teams", could apply to his most visible win here; a historically bad Arkansas team that got rid of their staff later that season. He is a good man but a mediocre coach when he arrived, while he was here, and today as an unemployed OC still cashing checks from UNT. You can find numerous other post from me and others questioning is resume at hiring, first guessing the extensions, and lamenting that he wasn't fired sooner. It isn't "happy he was fired" that is coming from me it is an “I told you so”. And I think my sentiment is shared by others. You can be mediocre as a professional it isn’t an insult or slight when your record is below 0.500 against FBS competition, with no Bowl wins or conference championships. It is what the numbers say he is, which factored into him being fired here and now OU. He work hard here, I appreciate that. But he was also paid well best salary this institution paid a Head Coach at the time he was hired. He also got 2 raises. Now that this appendix of the UNT Book of Seth is complete can we stop fighting about a coach THAT WON NOTHING OF CONSEQUENCE HERE?
  2. Could not agree with this part more. This is like your kid coming home improving his grade from 35 (out of 100) on his math test to 55. Yes it is a big improvement but still a massive failure. Memphis stopped themselves with a few unforced errors. Our defense made some stops but I figure they hit 60 without their unforced errors. Last year's defense they get 60+ regardless.
  3. Memphis did exactly what they wanted to in the 4th quarter on offense. More than likely with a long field they get 2 or 3 first downs and run out the clock. Even if you do force them to punt after one 3rd down conversion you problaby get the ball inside the 20 with even less time than you got down 8.
  4. Even if they tackle 100% better when they are in position that still wouldn't be conference championship level defense. They get blown off the ball so often that being in position to stop a play before it is 5 yards down the field is rare. We might have won tonight with some better tackling and one less dropped pass, but we aren't beating teams playing like Navy, Army, or Tulane are this year.
  5. I agree but 2024 North Texas defense is historically bad and assuming it will stop anyone that relatively early in the game to give you a chance to tie it with a FG pointless. Never leave points on the table if you plan to have another pocession in the game.
  6. I am sorry criticizing this offense that shared the field with worse defense in FBS is just silly. 44 points or just 30 without two 75 yard plays. They were playing one of the better AAC defenses putting up those points. Always room to improve by sheez we don't have 5 stars all over the field like Georgia. Oh and don't forget without a missed field goal this game is over already with 52 points for Memphis and the ball.
  7. Nothing respectable about giving up 49 points and giving the RB his best day ever. That isn't Adrian Peterson out there.
  8. This CANNOT be a "moral victory". Anytime an opponent has a record setting stastical day it is NOT a moral victory. A game in which one part of your team played bad on a historical level it is NEVER a moral victory.
  9. Dear Offensive player in AAC If you need to have a career day in front of NFL scouts; invite them to come to your game vs a Caponi defense. Hell you might even use some your NIL money to help pay for their travel expenses. 🤦🏽‍♂️
  10. I say we need at least 10. If the coaches for Memphis are smart they won't get too conservative.
  11. So we will need about 52 to win this game. I am not mad just frustrated imagining if we had a top 75 defense.
  12. Wow, North Texas 5-1 vs 5-1 Memphis in a great game so far. Excuse me while I 🤮 smut ranked vs Standford (a well known national academic brand). But neither were on a single screen at my nearest Buffalo Wing wings but North Dakota State was. 🙄. Didn't stay long enough to order. I guess we don't have teams that play FBS on TV in the DFW area. WTH. 😡
  13. I don't like the music piped by the guy that should be known as DJ LP (short for Lame Poser) either. But you couldn't resist a an opportunity to take shot at "gay culture" or at least your perception of it? Just say you hope the crowd is consistently louder than the offerings of DJ LP at our next home games. Based on my beliefs LBGTQ+ community probably wouldn't call me a friend, ally or even tolerant but I don't relish being an A-hole towards them either. I will let professional comedians/entertainers make jokes and defend them from "being cancelled". But with these sorry unfunny, and unnecessary jokes referencing them when discussing a subject unrelated to them, I can see why some of them are way too sensative. But don't let me rain on your parade. Keep making "jokes" that might run discourage younger more tolerant alumni and students from hanging out inside the stadium with older loyal Mean Green fans and alumni.
  14. Anywhere else outside of maybe programs at small private schools with no history of FBS success would fans be calling Seth a good coach. Mediocre is NOT bad. Good would mean winning a few more than you lose when on field against programs with comparable resources. If he was at Rice, UL Monroe, UTEP, New Mexico State, Western Kentucky, FAU, FIU or Arkansas State an opinion that he was a good coach would be defendable. And it is no coincidence that some of those teams I just listed were the teams he had a winning record against. Any FBS program wanting good consistent good performances that hire him as HC will likely be disappointed.
  15. 🤨 Makes you think he thought the standard here was 0.500 and Vito was out of pocket for asking tough questions. Giving a guy multiple extensions and raises with no trophies would make many coaches feel that way. And maybe for the long suffering loyal fans it might be, but if you are building a program worthy of a large state research university and the flagship university of a university system it isn't.
  16. Seth and UNT administration apologist can make all the excuses in the world but his body of coaching work is mediocre. He hasn’t demonstrated he can develop a QB. We were stupid to give him multiple extensions. We were a good running team no defense when he arrive and the same when he left. We also paid him and his staff the most we ever had but below 0.500 against FBS competition, no bowl wins or conference championships. That IS NOT GOOD not even for UNT.
  17. You mean that ain't Vince Young's kid that was a 5 star coming out of high school?
  18. If you are making decisions like that after a by week when you THOUGHT your defense improved you have to fire the DC. Hell the AD should issue an ultimatum: you keep Caponi past this week and don't go to a bowl game, you sign a revise contract only guaranting 2025 season with an extra 200k.
  19. Were your expectations higher? Mine weren't. I thought they would play less sloppy and be within a score. We were favored by 5.
  20. And there you go, loser mentality. Give the administration an excuse to never try to aim high. You don't know what is possible until you ask and try. The worst that could happen is Sanders says NO. But if the local media coverage while you pursuit him would be positive; not to mention media the online rumor mill media.
  21. You are right but not even exploring it, bringing him on campus and really projecting how bringing him here would increase revenue and counteract the narrative that NT isn't serious about winning is aim low loser mentality. The AD of Colorado said in an interview shortly after hiring him "I had to figure out how to budget for him"
  22. Have you seen Travis Hunter and the QB? And he would have brought the most talented recruiting class UNT ever had with him. Moreover I am talking after his time winning at Jackson State. The year Seth should have been fired. You think all of the best players Sanders on Seth's last roster that Sanders may have wanted leaves? We would have better DB talent and DB coaching. Not to mention just hiring a huge name locally changes the perception of our motivation to win.
  23. Don't because it should respresent more than football. This program inspires zero loyalty with perpetual underachieving and aiming low all the time. I have UNT North Texas gear not UNT Football gear. I will always proudly respresent the University. Unfortunately since the first early extension of Seth, I have completely lost faith in the leadership's commitment to winning. So days like this don't hurt as bad as the used to. When they hire a coach actually ready and proven to be a successful Head Coach at a G5 program it will be FIRST TIME. That to me in addition to keeping Seth an extra year and not seriously pursuiting Coach Sanders means that day like today are totally okay with the administration just as long as we get the exposure. 🤷🏽‍♂️
