I upvoted this and you are correct. However, for a job of this magnitude and what this program needs to do he doesn't have the FBS head coaching experience necessary for this difficult job. If this was 7 years ago when Seth was hired that is a different story in a weaker conference. At the end of 2022, nobody on this board was ready to take a step back to make a step forward as a program. We also aren't that demanding; we would have been content with a 4-4 record today understanding the coach is new. We would then be looking at losing our next 2 games versus UTSA and SMU. That would set us up to have bowl eligibility on the line for the last 2 games. And those games are winnable. I and many others believe there were better Head Coaches and Defensive Coordinators available especially if you pull the trigger on Seth last season earlier.

I do credit the effort of the players but there was nothing special about what they did. Memphis didn't run enough in the second half. I said earlier that they should not have 25 pass attempts or more if they managed the game correctly. They had 4 attempts on that last drive to get them to 28 attempts.

If you can't count on defense to stop the offense short of the endzone starting from their own 25 with less than a minute left you don't have a defense. You have a scrimmage partner for your opponent's offense. Because when they need a play they will get their best player one vs one in the middle of the field with a chance to make a play. 🤷🏽‍♂️. I shouldn't be a question whether the DC is fired or not come the end of the season without drastic improvement. If anything you might want to bring in his replacement next week and have him audition on the job as the "assistant" DC. Maybe another 3-3-5 guy and if nothing works scrap the scheme and staff at the end of the season.

And for once and for all I wish we could put to bed this notion that some how given our terrible past is an excuse for what is going on today. Too many programs spending less than us and in a shorter time span have gotten much better results than us. Oh and Bean the guy Aune/Littrell kept on the bench beat started for the team OU today. On the bright side it looks like they have some life in them today. At least I can root for a spread cover.

We have a good Air Raid OC as head coach learning on the job. Not great just good. He is only a better evaluator of QB talent thus far in comparison to Littrell in my opinion. That isn't a criticism of him it is a critic of the hiring philosophy. Just once I would like to see them hire one of best available DC in the country as head coach. We get talented players here just not great coaching. But we are paying great salaries. 🤷🏽‍♂️

We are better than the very worst of FBS and paying the staff here way better than that with nice facilities everywhere. The level up in all things UNT from the early 90s till today has been great but winning in football has lagged far behind. Now look at basketball winning the NIT with Superpit falling down around them. 🤷🏽‍♂️

We were FCS/I-AA until 1995. So being a bad FCS with seats all over the stadium under $30 and nothing sweet about our suites is not a fair comparison. We are bad considering what has been invested. What you are talking about isn't just bad it about not even really having a program that deserved to play FBS level games at home.

I think if people removed positive bias for all things UNT I think most would agree at best it was a good idea but poorly executed. I would have rather they put that chesty eagle logo on the field and went with an interlocking NT on the helmets. And changed it up for the last time they used it with green helmets, white NT letters and stripe down the middle. I am not a stickler for tradition but this tricking up the uniforms needs to be executed better and that is the bottom line. There are too many great old school uniforms and helmets to roll out a tricked up bad combo. 🤦🏽‍♂️ Just look at all the existing historical designs they could have selected for the helmets. Seems kind of anti-KISS not just not to tweak one the best 3 options in our helmet history 1. SOW 2. Flying Worm 3. Interlocking NT And if they really want to turn up the NT

We have much large pool of people who would care IF we WON more often. We are almost celebrating “moral victory” over a small school that has no tradition of winning (their all time winning record is 0.455 and ours is 0.500)

Kind of disappointing but somewhat expected. Academic elite small private schools aren’t a TV draw. The only time they would be is if they are viewed as a legitimate threat to get a spot in the playoff. But the number isn’t a good reflection on our program either. I am very critical of our program because the only way to reverse the perception of it is to win big and consistently win 8 games a year minimum. So yeah we can celebrate beating an undefeated UTSA team to get to 6-6 but that does nothing for our program long term. Too many losing or right at 0.500 seasons preceded it.

I agree. I wanted Army vs Navy and championship weekend to switch places in the CFB schedule as soon as 3 conferences started having conference championship games. Now it makes even more sense. An Army vs Navy game with spot in the AAC championship game on the line way more intriguing. A “meaningless” rematch of an AAC championship game a week later doesn’t make sense. If the schedule was switched, Army vs Navy still gets the FBS stage all to itself that weekend preserving the tradition. Also all the conference championship game qualifiers get a week rest and we might get better games. In my opinion the lack rematches in the regular season is part of what makes college football unique and more passionate than NFL.
