  1. Solid Green Helmet. White Texas with Green SOW inside. Just make it happen.
  2. There are many others that don't trick up their uniforms all the time. If people vaguely familiar with your school/football program can't quickly recognize your uniform on TV it is a bad uniform. The most critical thing I can say about the combo is the helmets. If we are going to use the SOW in Texas logo match it with one on the field. Can we have any consistent branding? 🤦🏽‍♂️ Please let find something that looks good and wear home & away variations of it for all except 2-3 games a year.
  3. Just another example of late half ass moves by the leadership above HC kills this program. And when that results in having the worst defense in FBS overshadowing the 11th ranked FBS offense it is very hard to do the logical thing and be patient with a brand new scheme. Leadership has often put coaching staffs behind the 8 ball at UNT and the first time a coach has no excuses for mediocrity here he coaches 2 additional years. And coincidentally retained to the point to make replacing him and his staff rushed and difficult. 🤦🏽‍♂️ And let's say Caponi isn't terrible in the long run. That would be good but not great. I am no longer interested in waiting just be 7-5 which is what a good DC will likely help you achieve. I want a DC so good he is hired away to be a FBS HC or an NFL assistant job. A great DC would minimally have a defense rank above 100 with depleted talent in his first year. To excuse this performance so far you would have to tell me 4-6 starters on defense don't have scholarships. I don't think we have good option when it comes to Caponi. Unless the want to go out a grab a DC that should already be a HC 750k or more our defense won't be great next year.
  4. Having a consistent successful philosophy that is associated with your brand helps. And only mentioned the statues as a consistent trend of doing things late and half ass; like the transition from Littrell to Morris. 🤷🏽‍♂️.
  5. Exactly this, when I mentioned Wyoming as the flagship university of a state it comes with expectations but when you state is small in population you don't have the resources that help other flagship universities with drastically larger populations. I look at G5 programs that have started playing FBS level (or restarted) within the last 25 years. And our program just hasn't been run efficiently.
  6. You argument is all over the place. But chiefly bad point is that Navy is just as good or better than any CUSA team we played last year. Memphis had to come from behind in the 4th quarter to beat Navy. I will give you Temple without their QB is not good. Seth floundered for 3 years with no trophies of any kind and now we have standards for Morris with 11th rank offense in FBS in his first year? Yes Caponi is terrible and their recruiting to the defensive side of the ball may not be much better than open tryouts for students already enrolled. I find this debate laughable with what we lauded Seth over. Don't get me wrong I appreciate the expectations, but if we were consistent on this board no one would have been on board with Seth's 2nd extension and at least 1/3 would seriously questioned the first extension.
  7. The numbers say otherwise. Find me the FBS offense that doesn't have dry periods through out games and I will show you a national championship caliber offense. They are complete what you are talking about is elite offense. Complete mean balanced and good enough to put up points under pressure and they do that. They are 11th in total offense but they are "incomplete"? I wish the leadership above head coach had your high standards Seth is gone 3 season ago if they did.🤷🏽‍♂️
  8. I am very skeptical of your football IQ if you think that last year's Mean Green team wouldn't be 3-6 by this point in the season against this competition. Furthermore that "decent" team lost pieces and showed they could not develope a QB that can complete 60% of their passes let alone 65%. This years offense is complete and balanced. Only twice this year was this offense in a game were they didn't have huge pressure to score on every. That "decent" team was still below 0.500 against FBS competition. So he "nuked" the defense? Wasn't the defense bottom half of FBS last year also. 🤷🏽‍♂️ I will chalk some of your bad takes to frustration. This team is 2 plays away from being 0.500. I am not defending the Morris hire but that "decent" team was on the negative side of mediocre and trending flat or down.
  9. Because of bad decision thar reverberate for decades. That makes minor mistakes down the line more punative. I didn't mean say it was "easy". But building legitimately successful G5 program isn't hard given proper timely investment and consistency of not rewarding mediocrity. Leadership has not done that here. Extending Seth twice is emblematic of that. Every major positive move they have made has been a least 5 years late. 1. building decent FBS stadium late 2. Building large indoor practice staduim late 3. Hiring a coach with P5 experience late (and when they did, they did not surround him with a strong regional recruiting reputation *Coach McCarney) 4. Committed to more modern offensive schemes and passing late (actually took a step back in that regard to hired Mac). So now we should be in the 3rd generation of running variations of the spread not the second. 5. Extending Seth without anything to show for it except bowl appearances. Sorry but with only 5 wins against FBS competition and more than half of FBS teams going to bowls a lower bowl appearance is barely a step above a participation trophy. Can you think of a head coach top or near top in salary for their conference getting multiple extensions with salary increases without winning ANYTHING TANGIBLE? The facts are this program does A LOT OF STUPID 💩 that is first guessed by many on this board. This infatuation with the color black is symbolic of that. And not that it would have an impact on winning here are the other symbolic things that were a least a decade late or more 1. Mean Joe Greene Statue 2. Something on par with a statue honoring Odus Mitchell 3. And great but at least 20 years late. Link below All this is a pattern of constant pursuit of mediocity and maybe thinking it is "easy"
  10. Some of Dickey's defenses held their own against P5 offenses for a half. One game against a high ranked Texas of Mack's tenure stood out in particular. Dickey's team scoring 28 points on offense was an explosion.
  11. Nothing is no risk except taking a knee. There is also nothing really to gain by abandoning the run on your first drive. I am not saying you shouldn't pass at all that first drive but not a single rush attempt makes no sense.
  12. There there fundamental flaw in your comparison. 1. Wyoming is the flagship university of the whole state with only one FBS program in that. 2. MWC is the best and most stable of G5 conferences 3. Any potential replacements for an open HC position there may not want to live there. 4. Just the travel logistics of recruiting to Larmine, WY are 10 times harder than Denton, TX. There is nothing especially hard about head coaching in Denton except the well earned local apathy and history of poor investment. You hire an experience coach with buzz and set him up with a staff with strong positive reputations in Texas/Oklahoma/Louisana coaching/recruiting circles you will win here. Morris wasn't a "hyped" coach. And even without that hype, recruit halfway decent on the defensive side of the ball we win at least 2 more games by this point in the season with Morris at the helm. The truth about Litrell is that he just wasn't that good. Without a undervalued really short QB falling in his lap exceeding all expectations he never gets an early extension let alone 2.
  13. Wow, this so wrong it doesn’t warrant I thoughtful response. But I will try. 1. Morris has faced tougher competition 2. He has a complete offense with a QB who completes almost 65% of his passes most of the time in shootouts trailing. So Morris in a tougher conference has a team with only one glaring issue: Defense. Seth couldn’t fix the defense or QB position for over 3 years. He kept his job an extra year on the “strength” of a fluke rain soaked victory at home that favored the only thing that worked under him consistently; the run game. I absolutely would not be watching games, going to games or care enough to post here if Seth was still here. Maybe Rogers is successful here and gets the starting job under Seth. But I think Seth talks Aune into staying and if that happens I doubt Rogers is here or on the bench if he is.
  14. There was no point in keeping him expecting him to get better. He probably keeps Rogers on the bench if he was here and is the best thing introduced to the fans this season.
  15. I heard UTSA ran 3 straight pass plays to open the second half to go 3 and out. It like the Offensive Coordinators just barely want to cover the spreads.
  16. I am more concerned with over 200 yards rushing by almost every team we’ve played. UTSA got 184 yards the first half. I don’t know how they let us back in the game. I wasn’t able to get ESPN+ on the plane.
  17. I am about to board a plane back to DFW. I will let the up and down votes on this comment determine whether I spend $10 plane wifi service to watch the rest of this UTSA run focused scrimmage.
  18. Work called me in to handle problem in El Paso. And I miss all the 1st quarter. I am not sure what looks worse our uniforms or the defense. Why are we wearing black at home that is a color UTSA uses consistently? What is the logic? Ugly uniforms like UTSA will produce better play like UTSA? 🙄.
  19. Okay but the 124 better defenses in FBS today and they are dead last vs the run. It is bigger than the last drive. If the defensive side of the ball are so devoid of talent, size, speed, and play making smarts that is on the coaches.
  20. Hey nobody can fire an owner but as much as I dislike Jerry's leadership it is nowhere near as bad as Caponi is a DC so far. Hell I would bring in Jerry to be DC. He might be every bit as bad as Caponi but the carnival aspect of having an 0 experienced celebrity as DC would sell a few tickets. 🤣
  21. And 56% completion percentage and below 0.500 versus FBS level competition. Real world beater right there.
  22. If pass dominant Temple team had their starting QB for our game how much worse could the defensive stats be? I posted this so everyone in doubt knows that we’re aren’t exaggerating how bad the DC is out of frustration of losing these close games. NCAA’s official stats page only goes to 130. We are ranked 125 in total defense. I really think if this continues the DC should do everyone a favor and “resign” and take only 1/3 of the money owed him for 2024.
  23. k Looks very similar to Aune stats in some of his gamas and those games were not against top ten ranked OU with a great Defense Coach as their head coach. 🤷🏽‍♂️. Seth finally pivoted to run heavy game plans. I wonder what Bean's home run threat legs would have done for the read option looks they predominantly ran out of? Anyone that watched those games knows that the 3 headed running back monster perserved Seth's job for an extra season.
  24. I don't think anyone on this board expected our team to be in the running for the AAC Championship game. But we did expect to get to the last 2 games of the regular season with an opportunity to get to 0.500 and bowl eligibility. With this loss we will be lucky to get to 5-7.
  25. If you are thinking like that win a defense that has 9 or more starters out of 11 available in that situation it screams that you don't have a DC you believe in. The moment you think like that and you aren't facing a team that routinely scores 35+ on GOOD P5 teams your next thought is when should I announce the DC is fired or that we are bringing in a high profile defensive "consultant". (Really just an excuse to hire the new DC in waiting letting him try out for the job) So you go to OT in the bleed the clock scenario. YOUR DEFENSE STILL HAS TO MAKE A STOP IN OT TO WIN! 🤦🏽‍♂️. So if they can't keep a team out the endzone with 75 yards to go and 50 seconds what is the defense going to do on their own 25 without any clock to aid them?
