  1. I agree 100% with rcade.
  2. My preference is to have night games in September and early October due to the heat of Texas summers then change to afternoon games for middle to late October and all of November.
  3. I know that Todd Dodge will be back as our head football coach in 2010 but may God help us all if that man is back in 2011.
  4. I was very disappointed to read that Coach De Loach will be back in the press box for the La-Monroe game. I thought the turning point in the Western Kentucky game was when he came down to the sidelines and lit up the defense. He was LIVID and should have been. The defense played with much more intensity once he was down on the field with them. It is too bad that Coach Dodge cannot understand that.
  5. I am surprised at this change. Army can usually find games with teams in conferences pretty early in the season but once conference games start it is tougher for them. Whenever this game is played my family and I will be there. We made the last trip up there and it was a great one. I would encourage any North Texas fan to hock your wife's jewelry (if necessary) and make that trip.
  6. If that should happen we need to get the paramedics ready because several people will jump off of the back of the Fouts Field press box.
  7. For those of you in the Ft. Worth area and have Charter Cable.....it will be on Channel 281,
  8. I was working with his aunt at the time he was being recruited. After signing day she brought him to work with her one day. I asked him about North Texas. He said that he was never contacted by North Texas. I did not ask about whether or not he had an interest in North Texas. I thought it interesting that he was never contacted by the school.
  9. I hate to admit it but my first thought was "God, I hope it is not on TV anywhere".
  10. A high ankle sprain is a tough injury to overcome. He won't get over it this season. He is a tough kid and can play with pain. Mobility is one of his best assets. It will be interesting to see how much this injury limits it.
  11. The afternoon had been bright and warm and fooled some people into thinking that was the way to dress for the game. The lady sitting in front of us had on a thin short sleeved blouse. I knew she was in trouble. I offered to go to the car and get a blanket for her but she declined. By the start of the second quarter she had on her husband's jacket. I went to the car at the half to get blankets for my wife and grandson. I got one for her, too but they were gone by the time I got back. It was cooler than I expected but we have been to enough games that we go ready for just about anything.
  12. In order to have over 23,000 people in attendance you would have to have the student side completely full (it wasn't) plus the alumni side completly full (it certainly wasn't) plus an additional 3,000 people in the end zone seats (I doubt it). We sit above the walkway in Section E and there were LOTS of season ticket holders who are almost always present who were absent last night. I guess those were counted as being present since the tickets were sold. I hope it was just conflicts in schedules instead of a lack of interest in the game.
  13. I agree with SUMG that this crap is getting old and that I no longer go to the games expecting to win. I assume that we are going to lose the game, I am just not sure how it is going to happen. There are still two and one half years left on the Todd Dodge experiment. That could be a VERY long time. You know, the saddest part of this is that getting beat just does not hurt as much as it once did. At one time if we had lost a game in the fourth quarter like we did last night to Florida Atlantic I would have been furious. I would have cussed, fumed, tried to kick something and been really hot. Last nigt, I just picked up my stuff and drove home. That might have been the saddest thing of all.
  14. Todd Dodge will not be fired at the end of the 2009 season or at the end of the 2010 season regardless of how many games his team wins. Rick V has a tremendous investment in his hiring and will give him all the time he possibly can to pull the rabbit out of the hat. Those who want him gone before that are going to be VERY disappointed.
  15. Near the end of the game Vandy kicked a field goal that hit the left upright and went through to tie the game. In overtime Army kicked a field goal that hit the left upright and went through to win the game. It was fun to watch. We will have our hands full with Army's option running game.
  16. I did not see any moral victory on Saturday night. What I saw was a good old fashioned tail kicking. The other team had better athletes and seemed to play with more intensity - especially in the first half when the game was on the line. I am really tired of getting beat.
  17. I had posted earlier that I felt like the Middle Tennessee game was a "swing" game for our season. If we win, we go into an open week with a good feeling about the season. We would be 2-2 and easily could have been 3-1. We are 1-0 in conference play and head for La-Lafayette ready to go for he rest of the conference season. A loss would cause that first win over Ball State to look far less important. Before the game a good friend and I agreed that this game could go either way and thought a field goal would probably be the difference. At the half I was just sick. We had really stunk up the place. The second half was more competitive but Middle Tennessee looked a little less fired up at that point. In the middle of the fourth quarter the folks who sit behind us were leaving. The man said "Well, we are better than last year but we still have a long way to go". That one sentence might just sum up where we are right now. I am just tired to getting my tail beat week after week and year after year. We need to win some games.

  19. I believe that the game this Saturday is one of the most important games of the entire season. If we win we will be 2-2 in the month of September with the realization that it could easily have been 3-1. Our only loss will be to one of the best teams in the country. We will be 1-0 in conference play and will go into an Open week with good feelings about how the season is going. The trip to Lafayette will be one we look forward to so we can continue to show folks how good this season will be. If we lose we will be 1-3 for September with a very different feeling. We will be 0-1 in conference play and the trip to Lafayette after the Open week will be one we won't look forward to nearly as much. At that point the opening week win over Ball State will look smaller and smaller in the rear view mirror. We REALLY need to win this one, guys because I think it will set a tone for the rest of the season.
  20. One of my favorite phrasis is "Just get in the huddle and hush". I am glad to see the NCAA crack down on the lack of sportsmanship. I agree with 1999 that he should have come out of the game at that point to have a chance to explain to the head coach why we just got penalized 15 yards.
  21. Some of you other guys might not be afraid of lightning but old Huff darned sure is. If I see it, I am out of there and will listen to the game on the radio on the way back home.
  22. I enjoyed seeing us play good defense. We haven't seen that for quite a while. I enjoyed seeing our special teams look pretty good. We haven't seen that for quite a while. I enjoyed seeing us run the ball. We haven't seen that for quite a while. Those things give me hope for the future. I haven't had that for quite a while.
  23. I agree that improvement on DEFENSE is the key to the season. The old saying goes that offense sells tickets but defense wins championships. Texas Tech scores a lot of points but has not won a conference championship while doing it.
  24. Until this writer becomes our Athletic Director, University President, or Chairman of the Board of Regents I won't give a Rats Rear what he thinks.
  25. Ball State 38 North Texas 21
