I would like to see two junior college defensive tackles who graduate in May and enroll at North Texas for summer school. By doing this they can hit the weight room and get comfortable with the coaching staff before two-a-day practices start in August.

I am not sure that UTEP will leave Conference USA to go to The Mountain West. Their leaders have said how happy they are playing against other schools from Texas and how many alums they have in Houston and Dallas-Ft. Worth. It will be an interesting decision for them if they do get an invitation.

Babe on Channel 11 had a similar amount of time at 6:00 PM. He had some very positive comments and mentioned the new stadium. Neat.....

Coach Canales did a great job under tough circumstances. He will make someone an excellent head coach. Apparently, it won't be here. I just hope that we do not have to line up against a team that he is coaching any time soon.

Rick That is the way it normally works. Any legitimate company who wants to continue doing business with the major universities will make it a point to not hiss off the athletic directors of those universities by any underhanded dealings. Ninas has been in business for a long time and will want to continue to do business with them. He won't take a chance on burning any bridges.

Bob Tyler had been the head football coach at Mississippi State before we hired him. He was unemployed at the time. Thank goodness his tenure was only one year.

If McCarney is our man I would expect to see him stay at Florida through their bowl game. I have seen other situations where the new head coach at a school split his time between his current job and the one that is awaiting him. Often they will spend some days putting together a staff and doing some recruiting while remaining at their previous school. One nice thing about a situation like that is that each time that assistant coach is shown on TV there is a reference to "he will be leaving here to go be the head coach at North Texas following this game". That is not all bad.

I believe our home opener - and new stadium opener - is September 10th VS University of Houston.

If we are going to hire a coach who is currently a coordinator, let's hire the one who is currently our interim head coach.

I also watched it with the sound off and our radio broadcast on. It was pretty bad but it sure beat not getting to watch it at all.

I was told that we went away from afternoon games because of all of the kids activities at that time. The powers that be in the athletic department believe that our attendance would be hurt if we had to compete with them. Apparently lots of our fans have kids or grandkids who participate in Saturday afternoon events. I really miss the afternoon games in October and November but do not think they will return any time soon.

Guys we need to remember that Coach Fran would be coming from Unemployed.....not Texas A and M or Alabama. Over the long haul, Unemployed does not pay as well as the job at North Texas. He just might take it to get a fresh start. Who knows ? It is like asking a pretty girl for a date. She can't say "yes" if you don't ask her.

Remember.......he would not be coming to us from The University of South Florida. He would be coming to us from Unemployed. Unemployed does not pay that well over the long haul.

I hate it when anyone loses his job but this one really needed to happen. I hope that we will hire a new head coach with lots of experience at the college level. Experience at the college level is no guarantee of success, but it is a place to start from.

I was going to post my response but Stebo beat me to it. My guess is that if Levitt gets a job at a lower salary then his previous school would only be on the hook for the difference between the two.

My hope is that he will get the word on Monday but my belief is that his dismissal conference is still two weeks away. I sure hope that I am wrong.

I stayed until the end of the game because this one was my personal Fouts Field Finale. I will not attend another game this year. I just cannot stand it any more. I will be back again for next year, but this one is over for me.

No, sir, we do not need to do that. Hiring a high school coach with almost no experience at the college level to be our head coach was a mistake. We need to correct that mistake as quickly as possible.

I can't see why the Big West - or any other conference - would be anxious to get Hawaii. It is just too far out there and the travel expenses would go through the roof with no real advantage to the schools currently in that conference.
