  1. I believe that Vito reported that he had his offer to North Texas pulled several days ago and is looking at Washington State among others.
  2. I am glad to see Spencer land on his feet. I think he is a good guy and a good coach. He will do a fine job for them.
  3. I sure hope Hank got a bonus check for doing that one.
  4. The Army series is a four game series starting in 2016 with two games in Denton and two games at West Point. The games at West Point are in 2016 and 2018 with the other two being in Denton. The web site FBschedules.com shows these games and others.
  5. He came on during the Nebraska Vs Michigan game to appologize for his comment. It was still funny.....
  6. There is no coach's show tonight due to the women's basketball game. This would have been a great week to shift the show to Tuesday.
  7. Amen, brother.......
  8. North Texas Vs Troy is now listed as being shown on ESPN 3.
  9. You have to love a quote from Pogo The Possum to start the morning. We will be here regardless of our conference affiliation. We have had season tickets since 1972 and have seen lots of conferences from the Missouri Valley to the Sun Belt. My focus is on supporting the football program of North Texas. We will be there if we have a home game against UT-Austin or Austin College.
  10. Are you sure that it is on ESPN3 ? I looked on their web site and did not find it.
  11. Another source said that Mizzou would be playing in the SEC East while the Aggies would be playing in the SEC West.
  12. I would love to see us move to afternoon football games after the month of September. I spoke to Hank Dickenson about it a few years ago. He said that there are lots of kids activities during the day on Saturday (football, softball, soccer, etc.) and the athletic department believed that their crowds would be less if they went to afternoon games due to the potential conflicts in people's lives. I did not really understand this until our little six year old grandson started playing in a Fall baseball league in Flower Mound. On any given Saturday there are tons of kids, parents, and grandparents involved in activities for most of the day. The little guy had a 3:30 game on the day of the Florida Atlantic game. Fortunately that game started at 6:30 so we were able to make both events. If we had been forced to make a choice, the grandson's game would have won out. As I said earlier, I would love to see afternoon games after September but I don't believe we will see it until near the very end of the season.
  13. I believe Marty is correct. Chuck Curtis was a darned good football coach and had UTA playing pretty well when they decided to drop the program. When UTA opened their "new" football stadium North Texas was the opponent. We were coached by Jerry Moore in those days. It was televised by ESPN. That network was nowhere near the big deal that it is today. It was a good game......and North Texas won. I would love to see them add football and get North Texas on the schedule. It would be fun.
  14. We got the same phone call. It is good that the Athletic Department is trying to get the word out about the change in game time. Earlier in the day we had received two e-mails from them. They are trying, folks.
  15. For those of you who have your cable TV through Charter, it will be shown on Channel 300. It is part of the Sports Package. We will be recording it since it conflicts with our grandson's little kid baseball game.
  16. We normally come up on I-35W from Ft. Worth but will be coming from Dallas this time. We have Green Lot parking. If the Bonnie Brae exit is closed I do not know where we will have to get off the highway to return to Apogee Statium. I looked on Google map and did not see an exit at Oak Street/Hichory Street. Do we have to go all the way to the Decatur exit and return ? If some of you Denton residents can help us we would appreciate it.
  17. FIU 35 UNT 21 They just have more talent, folks.
  18. It is still there. I believe it was renamed for Ken Bahnsen a few years ago. At one time it was the home for North Texas basketball. There was only men's basketball in those days. I have lots of good memories from games in that place. We didn't win many games in the 1960-65 period but we saw some very good teams come through there.
  19. I'm thinking the new name will be Brett Vito field at Todd Dodge Fiasco Stadium.
  20. I am really glad that Coach Dodge is at Pitt, too. That means he is not at North Texas.
  21. I'm not sure about the color code but the sections from the goal line to the 15 yard line have 246 seats, the sections from the 15 yard line to the 35 yard line have 296 seats, and the sections from the 35 yard line to the 50 yard line then across to the other 35 yard line have 212 seats.
  22. Mrs. Huff and I are planning to make the one at The Stockyards in Ft. Worth. That is always a fun place to go.
  23. Some of us old timers will argue that a man named John Savage should be on that list. John was from Detroit, Texas and played at North Texas from 1960-61 through 1963-64. In those days Freshmen were not eligible for varsity competition so he only got three years to compile his statistics. At that time the old Missouri Valley Conference was as good as any in the country. Cincinatti won two national championships and lost a third one in overtime during that period. John was a great player on some bad teams. One year he was selected as All Missouri Valley from a team that won only two games all season. John was selected as All - MVC for all three of the years that he played. It is hard to compare eras but he would have been outstanding in any era. I was sure glad that I got to see him play. 25. John, I am pretty much a cave man when it comes to technology but I'll bet with today's advances they might be able to send in the forms from cell phones, Ipads, or other such devices. Perhaps someone who knows more about it - that could be almost anyone - can enlighten us old fossils. Don Hufstedler
