  1. I became concerned about our tickets after I read some of the comments that had been posted earlier in the day. I called the ticket office and spoke to a fellow there. He apologized for the problem and is sending them to me overnight by Fed Ex. There will be no cost to me for that shipment. On a side note, I asked if I needed to be present to sign for the tickets when they were delivered. My wife's family is having their Christmas event tomorrow afternoon and I was hoping for a positive response so that I would have an excuse to skip that wonderful affair. Unfortunately, the answer was that I did not have to be present for the tickets to be left at our house. Oh, well.......it was worth a shot.
  2. We have been season ticket holders since 1972 so coming up with one high was tough but I think the 2002 game against New Mexico State might have been it. It was two very evenly matched teams with a bowl game for the winner and nothing for the loser. Late in the game we intercepted a pass in the end zone to stop one of their drives. Fouts Field was electric that night. The invitation to the New Orleans Bowl after the game was also interesting but that is another story for another thread.
  3. The Channel eight morning show had a reporter at Apogee Stadium this morning. The reporter interviewed Eric Capper about the removal of the ice from the turf at Apogee prior to the high school double header scheduled for there for this afternoon and this evening. It showed a fellow in the background getting ready to start the removal. A few minutes later the same reporter interviewed Coach Mac about how to prepare a team for very cold weather - like the high school kids will experience today and tonight at their games there. They also talked about the Heart of Dallas Bowl game for the Mean Green. It was some good positive publicity for our school and our football program.
  4. In the late 1960's we were in Pampa. For our final game of the year we were scheduled to play Lubbock High School. I think there were three wins between the two teams. It came one of these things that dumped snow all over the area. One of our dads owned a construction company. He had some small road graders, some front end loaders, and some dump trucks. He got the graders to scrape the snow off the field (mostly, anyway) and got the front end loaders to dump it over the fence into the trucks. They hauled off the snow and we played the game. There were about 100 people there that night with about 90 in the press box. Conditions were miserable but the game was played. Pampa won the game but I am not sure that it should have ever been played. That picture of Apogee Stadium reminded me of how our stadium looked before the snow removal started.
  5. For those sitting outside it would have been miserable. It would not have been as bad as the old Ice Bowl between the Packers and the Cowboys in Green Bay, but close.
  6. Hey, you guys lighten up on the logo. It is my all time favorite. I still have a couple of caps that have that one on it. They are nice wool caps and keep my little bald head warm during the winter. Isn't it nice that we don't all like the same thing ? The world would be a dull old place if we did.
  7. SB Nation has us in Hawaii playing San Jose State. I sure hope that one is wrong. College Football News has us playing in the Heart of Dallas Bowl but lists Texas State as our opponent. I sure hope that one is wrong, too.
  8. That is exactly right. I had no idea how much fun it was going to be to be a grandparent. Our little eight year old grandson is one of the neatest kids in America and I'll bet every grandparent who reads this message board feels the same way about his/her grandchild or grandchildren. Ours comes to every home football game with us and has since he was six months old. It is a life changer, folks. I hope our new President enjoys grandparent hood as much as Mrs. Huff and I do. If so, he is in for a real treat.
  9. The Sporting News shows us playing Vs Ball State in The Little Caesar's Pizza Bowl. I am not sure how they came up with that one since this bowl game is not one that Conference USA normally goes to. They also show Colorado State Vs Bowling Green in the Beef O Brady Bowl. Since Bowling Green is not a Conference USA team that one also makes no sense to me. Strange..... Either they are very confused or I am. Maybe both.
  10. I was a dumb ole P.E. major at NTSU when that happened. I had a class at Fouts Field called "The Care And Prevention of Athletic Injuries". The lead trainer taught us how to tape ankles and other body parts. We had a test scheduled for that day. We were gathered near the gate on the northwest part of the stadium prior to class when someone said "turn on your radios, Kennedy's been shot". We listened in amazement at the news reports coming out of Dallas. Class was dismissed. We never did have that test. The whole country stopped for a week. The shooting of Lee Harvey Oswald occurred on live television then there was the funeral procession, funeral, and burial from Washington D.C. The football game for that Saturday was cancelled as were almost all sporting events. The NFL games were played, however. I read on another web site today where one person described the whole time as being surreal. I would not argue with that description.
  11. SMU Army New Mexico State Tulane SMU due to the publicity and proximity of the schools.......Army because we should match up with a service academy. We have never beaten one of them but we should have a great game, plus West Point is a wonderful trip.....New Mexico State because we have had lots of great games with them and found a way to win most of them.....Tulane because they are very beatable and a great road trip every other year. We should be able to win at least two of those each year and I think that was part of the criteria for this thread.
  12. I am an old retired coot so the word "production" is way back in my past. I get to check this web site any time I can convince my lovely wife to get off of our computer.
  13. I believe the fourth school is Nicholls State of the Southland Conference. I think the price tag to get them here was far less than for Idaho since they are a FCS school.
  14. Army of Dad is correct in that Interstate 35W is your best option. It will be VERY slow going until you get past the exit for US 287 to Decatur. I think that is exit 60. After that you can put your cruise control on 70 and be home free.
  15. I guessed 4 - 8 before the start of the season. We are a lot better than I thought and some of the teams are not as good as I had believed. In this instance it is very nice to have been wrong.
  16. When the season started I believed that our defensive line would be the weakest part of our team. I am glad to say that I was wrong about that. They are doing a good job and I hope it continues through the end of the year.
  17. I saw the segment and it was nice to see us get some positive publicity. Newy Scruggs of Channel Five has also had positive comments about Coach Mac. He is making a difference for us, folks.
  18. I believe it will be shown again on CBS Sports at 5:00 AM on Monday.
  19. The Sports Illustrated web site had a story about the Grambling situation one day this week. They have a real mess. I don't know all of the details but it seems to me that those kids deserve a lot better than they are getting from their university.
  20. He also puts us playing in the New Orleans Bowl against a Sun Belt Conference team.
  21. That would give us seven wins and a spot in a bowl game. I did not expect seven wins when the season started so I would take that in a New York second.
  22. One national web site (scoop.com) has it down as a possible "hit of the year". It shows it from the same three angles that had been shown previously but it gives us a little national publicity.
  23. Charter cable 290. It is not in HD but you will be able to see the game.
  24. The SB Nation web site shows us playing against Arkansas State in the Beef O Brady Bowl in St. Petersburg, Florida on December 23rd. They show Arkansas State as a replacement for the AAC #6 team. That would sure be a better road trip - and a warmer location - than Dallas on New Year's Day.
  25. Fox College Sports Central will replay the game at 2:00 AM on Sunday and Fox College Sports Pacific shows a replay on Sunday at 5:00 AM. Those times certainly aren't the best but if you have a recorder, you might be able to get it.
