Another thing to consider is that this is the fifth year in the five year commitment that people made for Club level seats or Suites. I think most folks anticipated more in the way of wins and in the way of quality opponents in these past five years. It will be interesting to see how many choose to renew that commitment and how many say "no, thank you" for next year.

Although we live in Azle our grandson lives in Flower Mound and plays baseball there. In the Spring before he graduated from high school Ryan umpired a bunch of the games for Christopher. We got to visit with him several times. He was really excited about coming to North Texas. He is a good guy and one that we have enjoyed watching. We hope that he continues to develop and gets even more playing time this season.

I think you should have UNT90 as one of your guest hosts just to liven things up a bit.

We had a group of ten that sat down the left field line in the Lexus Level seating. The air conditioning inside was sure worth the extra cost prior to the sun going down at the start of the game. There were lots of green guys and gals there. The line to get the caps was VERY long but moved pretty quickly. After the game we were leaving the stadium and two people tried to buy some of our caps from us. One lady was very nice and one gentleman said that he had been trying to get anyone to sell him one with no success. Who knew that the Mean Green would be in such demand ?

I voted for Coach Dickey. I enjoyed being around him (one of the few on this board to make that statement), I enjoyed watching his teams play, and I loved those four trips to New Orleans.

Bill Vogel was one of the really good guys in the world. If there was an out of town athletic event he would load up a van full of UNT cheerleaders and hit the road. When that bright green van rolled in you knew that North Texas was there. I don't know how many miles he put on that van taking kids to events but it was a bunch. He continued to support North Texas athletics after he was not working for the athletic department. He would be at an event with his bright green jacket and cowboy hat. He was one of a kind and the world is a poorer place because Bill Vogel is no longer here.

I agree with UNT86. Army and SMU are great series for us.

My wife and I went to the meeting and were pleasantly surprised at the turnout. It was more than we had expected. The food was okay and lots of North Texas staff members were present. Most encouraging was the fact that there were a lot of younger guys there. That is good for our future. The coaches were about like always......very positive about the coming season. The best thing about it was that my wife won North Texas golf shirt that was given as one of the door prizes. She hardly has any green North Texas stuff.

MGB: Interesting report on C-USA football ticket sales
Huff replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
It will be interesting to see what happens with the Club Level seats at the end of the 2015 season. The initial plan was for five years. Those five years are up at the end of the season. The promise was that there needed to be a One Time contribution in order to purchase those seats. I am not sure that the athletic department understands that promises are made to be kept. The Club Level is nice but the product that has been put on the field during this five year period has not been good. It will be interesting to see how many people choose to walk away from the Club Level at the end of this season and what - if anything - the Athletic Department will do to keep that from happening. -
When I saw that post I got my hopes up because I thought he might be replacing John Nitardy. I am NOT impressed with that gentleman. Unfortunately he will be working under Mr. Nitardy's supervision. Oh, well.......hope springs eternal.

Yes. They took two today from UTEP.

For our family this one hurts. Our daughter and grandson come to the games with us. Since this is now on a school night they won't make this one. We were already probably going to miss the Halloween game and the Thanksgiving weekend game so this cuts our family football events to two. That stinks.

I don't see any way that TCU does not go with the other "big boys". They got left behind and wandered in the wilderness for several years after the old Southwest Conference broke up. I just cannot see them letting that happen again. They will do whatever it takes to stay with the other major schools.

Green Crazy in 1976 we played Florida State in the snow in Denton. It was Hayden Fry vs Bobby Bowden. Those were two pretty good coaches. FSU scored late in the fourth quarter, went for two after the touchdown, and won the game. Some video from that game was shown earlier on a different thread. You might look at it just to see what you will be seeing just in case we get another one.

I agree with MeanGreenHoops about it being a great trip. They do not have tours of the campus on football game days but if you go a day early or stay a day late it is well worth your time and money to do it.

Don't forget that the final of those five home games is the Saturday after Thanksgiving when all the students have gone home. This schedule is a really bad one.

Somebody needs to fly to Albuquerque...
Huff replied to foutsrouts's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
The only reason that I can think of for anyone to fly out there would be if this kid had a big, mean defensive tackle on his team. THEN we ought to have someone on the next plane headed west. -
My TCWho friends are convinced that the Horned Frogs would have beaten any of the teams in the playoffs. I think my Horned Frog friends need to put down their crack pipes and quit whining.

Remember that Conference USA said that they would completely reshuffle the conference schedule after UAB withdrew. I have not looked at the schedules for any of the Eastern Zone teams but we might be scheduled to open with one of them. I agree that opening with a conference game would not be good but it might be the only option at this point.

The story that UNT86 is thinking of is a good one but probably does not need to be told in mixed company or on a public message board. Thanks for remembering it '86. It caused me to smile.

I always liked Andy. I hope he will rest in peace.

Commencement Ceremonies Moved to Apogee Starting 2015
Huff replied to Cerebus's topic in Mean Green Football
I hope the weather cooperates better for this group of graduates than it did for our group. We were scheduled to graduate at Fouts Field in an evening service. We practiced at Fouts that morning then the weather changed and it rained harder than I have ever seen before or since. We moved our graduation event to Men's Gym. We sat in folding chairs on the gym floor with our parents and friends in the stands. North Texas was MUCH smaller in those days so we were able to make it work. The school is a lot larger today so the event would have to be broken up if moved to The Super Pit. Most high schools that I know have moved their graduations to an indoor facility due to the uncertainty of weather at that time of the year. I hope this works out but I have my doubts. -
Shaft's expectations for the program are pretty modest but sadly it would be an improvement over what we have seen in the past. We have had four winning football seasons in the last twenty years (2002,2003,2004, and 2013). Only one of those winning seasons has come in the past ten years so his hope that we would make it to a bowl game once every three years would be one heck of an improvement over where we have been. That is really sad isn't it ?

Give The Buick A 7th Ranked Scoring Defense....
Huff replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
I liked Coach Dickey and enjoyed watching his teams play. I am glad to see him find a place where he can be successful. -
Thanks, Cerebus, but I don't think either one of those would be worth the phone call.
